3. "Donuts, I got donuts, I got- Hey, I know you!"- Chief Wiggum before being run over by Snake in a scene aping Butch hitting Marsellus from Pulp Fiction, 22 Short Films about Springfield.

2. From the episode in which Homer becomes friends with Ned- Homer morphs through a bush a-la the T-1000, then later pursues Ned's Geo with two golf-clubs, mimicking the T-1000's hook arms.

1. Mr. Plow- After Homer and Barney agree to be friends and God melts the snow, the show cuts to two snowmen melting identically to Dietrich and Toht at the end of the Raiders of the Lost Ark. The perfect movie reference; short, estoric to all but film fans, and laugh-out-loud funny.

Homer tells the other softball team members that he has a magic bat, a la 'The Natural'. Their responses are classic: "Yeah, and I've got an enchanted jockstrap!" (Homer at the Bat)

Just reminded me of the other Raiders reference where Bart steals Homer's change and Homer rolls down the stairs in a boulder-like fashion.

Great stuff.

Amen. I was thinking the same thing.

Homer walking through the creche (I think) with all the babies silently menacing in reference to The Birds.
Yep, and then when they leave the Day Care Center, Alfred Hitchcock walks by.

And there were two having to do with "Spider-Man" in the episode where Homer becomes the superhero Pie-Man: The montage of him designing his outfit and the upside-down kiss.
I love the scene with Lisa and the dentist that mimics "Batman".

And, of course, the entire episode "Cape Feare" which naturally mimicks the film "Cape Fear" right down to the musical score (which later became Sideshow Bob's theme).

"Hey kids! Wanna drive through that cactus patch?"
"Yeah!"
"Yeah!"
"No!"
"Ohhh, two against one!"

Does the spoof of The Shining count? I know it's a little more than just a reference, but it's one of my favorite moments.
Can't forget McBain on a list of any Simpson's movie references as it takes quite a bit from the heyday of 80's and early-90's action movies (see Lethal Weapon and Die Hard for the two most evident).

MENDOZAAAAAAAA!
There was a reference to "The Muppets Take Manhattan" in the Paul Bunyan story where the guys are skating on a huge frying pan with butter pats strapped to their feet.

I Love You Dr. Zeus!!!!!
I third the Raiders reference of Bart stealing Homer's change-jar. Homer in the yard in his underwear with the rake just cracks me the fuck up every time.

The riff on "Patton" in Bart The General.
"Red Room. Red Room. Over there."

Rod even had the finger pointing, like Danny's whenever the voice took over. Priceless.

BTW, I wanted to say the "Raiders" thing with Bart, but it got snagged. So, I went to a backup.

The entire episode "You Only Move Twice" is hilarious to me, being an enormous Bond fan. My favrite part of the episode: Homer walks into the Volcano base to tell Scorpio he has to quit and in the background a girl in a white bikini backflips on, breaks a guy's neck between her knees, giggles, then backflips off. Genius rip from GoldenEye.

Also, the Goldfinger reference when Scorpio has "Bond" on the laser table and he esacapes, only to be tackled by Homer standing at the snack machine.

Oh, and Wiggum's Twin Peaks-esque dream from Who Shot Burns Pt. II is hilarious, as well.
oh god...great topic

the reference to The Great Escape when maggie leads the breakout from the daycare center

the charlie brown sing-a-long in the vampire bit in one of the early Treehouse of Horrors episodes.

oh and the entire episode with James Woods spoofing the Hard Way as a kwike mart clerk.

there is so many more

First season or 2, when Grandpa helps Bart plan a water balloon attack on Nelson with the help of the one-armed crazy military dude, at the end of the show, art's sitting on a table at the library and says "There are no good wars except The Revolutionary war and The Star Wars Trilogy". It's my favorite because it's the first reference to movies I remember them making. Another is when "Spock and Chewbacca show up with Mulder and Scully and the rest of the town in the forest to investigate the glowing Burns.

Oh man! This is one of the best episodes ever.

What season was this?
It was the second episode in season eight. Albert Brooks was the voice of Hank Scorpio.

I also just remembered Bart of Darkness from I think season six where they get a pool and Bart breaks his leg only to begin snooping on the neighbors with a telescope ala Rear Window.
"Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" Lisa is the bitter Bette Davis character who's jealous of genius Maggie as the Joan Crawford character in her nightmare.

Thanks. Albert Brooks was fantastic in that.

Yeah, that Rear Window episode (with Jimmy Stewart staring right back at Bart) is another gem.
"Homer, you'd be doing me a huge favor if you shoot someone on the way out."

Am I the only one who wouldn't mind having Hank Scorpio as a boss?
This one isn't subtle by any stretch of the imagination but it still killed be when I first heard it:

"It's like Speed 2 but on a Bus!" I believe it was Millhouse.
How about when Bart and Milhouse are camping out in the mall, and Chief Wiggum lets loose a tiger. The mall manager tells him to lock the doors to the mall. There are a bunch of olld folks outside trying to get in, and moaning. Totally Dawn of the Dead.
From 'Brother From The Same Planet:'

'TRAB PU KCIP! TRAB PU KCIP!'

'Millhouse, what have I told you about writing on walls?!?'
A few "Star Wars" ones-

Bart daydreams about his "Moon Party", with "R2D2 on bass".

Chewbacca is one of the aliens in a lineup, along with Gort, Marvin the Martian and ALF.

Martin's mom tries to sell a box of what she doesn't know is rare "Star Wars" items, which includes the alternate ending of Ep. 5 where Chewbacca is revealed to be Luke's father.

The immortal Ralph Wiggum line...

"I bent my wookie!"
My fave is the second episode to feature Homers estranged brother (De Vito) and he sits on the massage chair and it sends him on a 2001-esque trip
"Now excuse me while i kiss the sky"

it also has one of my favourite dialogue exchanges
"Homer stop thinking about your Ass"
"I tried but i cant"
The Bi-Mon-Sci-Fi-Con Main event:

"The Evil Robots form "Battlestar Galactica" Vs. The GAY Robots from "Star Wars."

I just love the emphasis that Harry puts on "Gay" in that one.

"Oh no! That sinister looking kid is coming to kill me! Help! HELP!-WUAH!"

And another great Hitchcock reference when Marge is recounting her fear of flying and she and her mother are chased by a bi-plane a la "North By Northwest."

Marge
: Do you think those things could also have contributed to my fear
of flying?

Zweig: [brusque] Yes, yes, it's all a rich tapestry.

Marge: Oh, well, thank you doctor. You've changed my life!

Zweig
: You know, Marge, we've really just begun to scratch the surface.
There's still the far more serious problem of your husband.

Homer: [walking in] That's OK, you don't have to make her into some kind
of superwoman. She can get on a plane, that's plenty. [rushes
Marge out]

Marge: Thank you, doctor. Whenever the wind whistles through the
leaves, I'll think "Lowenstein", "Lowenstein".

Zweig
: My name is Zweig.

Marge
: [whispering] Lowenstein...

I also like the less than subtle Barton Fink bit earlier on in that same episode. That, and the fight scene between Homer and Bart's "big brother" is just fantastic.

No one mentioned Itchy and Scratchy's "Reservior Cats" . . .complete with "Stuck in the Middle With You" . . .and Tarantino decapitation. How can it go wrong?

Foreshadowing to Kill Bill Vol. 1 .
The Spelling Bee episode was on today, and had the pitch perfect takeoff of "Requiem For A Dream's" shooting-up sequences whenever Homer ate a Ribwich.

Can anyone check if it was actually Tarantino guesting or just a good impersonator?

I also love the Itchy and Scratchy with special guest director Oliver Stone which is basically Scratchy getting shot by Itchy ala Oswald and Ruby.

The whole "see my vest" bit from the episode with the puppies. Yea, back when Simpsons mattered.

Bart, Milhouse, and Nelson exit a theatre playing "Naked Lunch" after sneaking in with Bart's stolen driver's license.

Nelson: "I can think of at least two things wrong with that title."
My absolute favourite reference (although it is kind of a referrence to a movie-like mini series) is in the episode Lisa's sax, where homer is watching television and you hear some jazzy music and then:

"you got damn fine coffee you got here in twin peaks, and damn good cherry pie"

then the camera cuts to the tv in which a tall man is dancing with a white horse next to a tree that has a traffic light hanging from it.

Homer: "Brilliant!!! hehehe. I have absolutely no idea what's going on."
-Burns trains Santa's Little Helper to become an attack dog by subjecting him to repeated viewings of awful doggy things, ala Alex in A Clockwork Orange.

God, this thread could go on for an eternity.
"Trilogy of Error"-An obvious parody of "Run Lola Run" with Lisa running to school with the soundtrack in the background.

This has one of my favorite lines from that season

Jimmy Woods: "Well I'm off to fight Aliens on a far away planet"

Marge: "That sounds like a GREAT movie"

Jimmy: "Yes.......movie"

And although it's not really a movie reference, the episode with Mulder and Scully had some great moments

Leonard Nimoy doing his "In search of...." schtick and then when he bails later the squeeky voiced teen sits in for him and ends the episode with "Keep watching the SKI'S"

James Woods: "Okay you're you, I'm me."

Jimbo: "I'm... me?"

James Woods: "Hey don't... jerk me around, fella."

Krustieloo Studios was based on DezzyLou

IN Flamming Moe Homer is in the Rafters Laughing like in Phantom of the Opera

Friday the 13ths and Delveriance in the camping episode
post #50 of 64
Homer: "We're back from the video store!"
Lisa: "Did they have a copy of 'Waiting to Exhale?'"
Homer: "No, and they said don't hold your breath."
