Remember the clip show when Homer had the heart attack?

Barney says something to the effect of "I can't stand seeing him like this," smothers Homer with a pillow and escapes out the window ala "Chief" from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

There's also a Chief-like character at the asylum in the Michael Jackson Episode. The doctors are all amazed when he talks to Homer, and he explains that no one's ever made an effort to talk to him before. I think of both of these whenever I see that movie.

Also, some of the early Mr. Skinner / "Mother" exchanges are very reminiscent of Psycho. I don't think the mother was an actual character until later on, but I could be wrong.

i just saw another one i forgot about, in the episode where bleeding gums murphy dies, he appears in the clouds at the end, then so does Mustafah from The Lion King, and he says:

When Homer goes to Klown Kollege, and he gets so obsessed with it, he makes a circus tent with his mashed potatoes and everyone at the dinner table looks at him weird - referencing to Close Encounters of the Third Kind with Dreyfuss making that big mountain in his 'taters. I had never saw Close Encounters before this episode, so when I saw it about a month ago, finally, I got a good kick out of it.

King Kong reference in the Tree House of Horror III with Burns in search of King Homer.

Not really a movie reference, but it will be soon.. Burn's building the Casino and him becoming like a Howard Hughes type, by having the tissue boxes for shoes, and long hair/nails and "inventing" the 'Spruce Goose".

Also, the cameos of Spinal Tap was greatness.

They did leave out a scene in the "$pringfield" episode that involved James Bond, Dr. No, Odd Job and Jaws at Homer's dealer's table. It can be seen in "The Simpsons 137th Episode Spectacular".

"When I first heard that Marge was joining the police academy, I thought it would be fun and zany, like that movie Spaceballs. But instead it was dark and disturbing. Like that movie Police Academy."

Am I the only one who wouldn't mind having Hank Scorpio as a boss?
That is my favorite episode of all time.

You are. I forget what episode she first appeared in, but she called Skinner "Spanky" and she got hurt when Bart flushed a cherry bomb down the toilet when she was using it.

In the episode "Brother from the Same Planet" (the one where Homer gets a little brother) they make the Psycho reference.

"Oh. There's mother now. Watching me."

"What's that, mother? No, I will not put on the sailor suit."

Creepy.

Jeez you guys must be scouring those boxed sets, huh? I haven't seen some (most) of these episodes in YEARS. Maybe I'll rent 'em.

Don't know about others, but I thought mine up, and then checked imDb for the exact quotes. I rarely buy TV shows on DVD. Also, the first 7 or 8 seasons have been shown here many times, so I've seen many earlier eps several times.
