Has anyone seen this yet? Fangoria gave it a pretty good review, and it sounds interesting. Opinions?

Start here.

I have not added it to my view list yet based on those reviews. However, I'm sure it will make it there eventually.

As I've posted on the many threads about this film I liked it alot. It has great characterization and excellent acting. The first 2 thirds of the film setup the characters then the last third gets into the supernatural. It isn't balls to the wall or anything but very enjoyable. Skip The Bunker.

I own a copy. I think it's a pretty decent little flick. It has high points and slow point. But it sounds and looks great. Some cool effects. etc...

Saw it, liked it. Could have been better, but it had some nice points. The uniforms and attitudes more-or-less fit in with the surreal late WWI period, where so many men had been torn apart in the same fields that the mud was full of rotting flesh and bones. Andy Serkis is once again far more frightening without CGI than with it. He has the makings of a new Peter Lorre, or at least his face does. It was easy to guess the plot twist about fifteen minutes into the film, but it was still watchable. It makes me want to see more WWI era horror pieces, and I believe I saw one at Blockbuster last week with a German corpse on the cover, Mauser still in his skeleton hands.

This movie is pretty bad. Everyone overacts. Andy Serkis plays this tough guy who likes to kill but it's so over the top it's pathetic. Crazy gun-ho guy dressed in animal skins who’s a psycho? That’s original. He was hardly threatening at all. Also, no actor in their role is believable. They looked, and acted, like they were right off the street of modern day London.
The camera work is amateurish. You never get a sense of panic or excitement that comes with most war films. The sound dubbing was done by a two-year old. Count the number of times you see explosions go off in the background and hear nothing. The battles sounded liked they filmed in an empty tin can. Just a really horrible experience to sit through this movie.
Rent "The Bunker" instead. It made sense, was well acted and was a pleasure to watch.

Rented it last weekend, and I've got to say that I dug it a lot.

Very nice indeed.

Very nice sense of paranoia, I loved the atmosphere, the constant rain and I loved the trenches and the WW I gear and uniforms.

2 bloody severed thumbs up.

Yeah, I already sent Trip a message about this awhile ago. But I did go ahead and pick it up and really really liked it. Think I'll watch it again tonight actually. I thought the end, although somewhat predictable, still managed to really work. In its execution it really wasn't about being a "oh wow" sort of twist, so much as it pushed the deeper message of the movie. In so doing, it still managed to be chilling, and that feeling was the "oh wow" part, you know?

OK, that probably makes very little sense. Hopefully those that have seen it will know what I'm trying to get at. I just don't want to let slip any spoilers or anything.

But all in all, a very effective, atmospheric and well acted movie. Andy Serkis is really pushes the creep factor. And while there are no real scares in the conventional sense, the surreal, unsettling imagery really gets under your skin. It's kinda like Geiger conjuring Dali.
