Place them here.
So all the pre-release, post-release discussions will be held in here now rather then in the main sewer?

Good idea. It could work as long as everyone follows it.

I think so too. I think it'll make it easier for us to link to ONE THREAD about a film from our articles too.
So what do we talk about in the Main Sewer?

That's become a bloated catch-all and it's out of hand. I think that we'll find plenty to discuss. I just think that focused discussion on specific films should have some sort of organized place for them.

I agree. Maybe the CHUD.com Main thread could focus on the majority of the CHUD article threads.

It'd die a quick death were that the case. I just think we should see what happens.

I may have worded that wrong. I was quickly out the door on my way to pick up lunch.

What I mean was that we could keep the threads dedicated to the CHUD articles in the CHUD.com Main forum and the Post/Pre release threads in this new forum.
But don't most of the main page articles pertain to movies that are released or going to be released? And in that case, wouldn't we talk about those developments in these focused film threads?
I think there's still mileage for other stuff, like the various articles coming up about films/directors that don't really deserve discussion threads, such as Dev's one about SW 7-9. It's also the place I think for some other good stuff, like maybe discussing directorial careers, something I don't see a lot which I think would be cool. I mean actual discussion, not 'put your favourite Spielberg flick here'. I remember HAM's amazing retrospective on Raimi, and that kind of thing would be great to discuss.
My main problem is that now we'll need a separate forum to discuss all of the movies I see at a Carmike theater.

You know, the unfocused ones.

I know that there's stuff on the main page that won't fit in with this new forum, but there are so many forums and so many members that I think splitting things up further will only cause more of a mess.
This is good. It will make it easier to find older discussion threads too.
So, no more pre and post release threads?
Great idea, Nick. Some films have so many threads that it was hard to keep track of what and where you might've read one thing or another. Consolidation was key.

I don't usually start threads but I did with a Batman Begins related one - DC's BATMAN BEGINS Panel @ Wizard World. For future reference, would something like that be fodder for CHUD.COM Main or Focused Film Discussion?
Nick I think this is a great idea but it's truly unfortunate that it had to come to something like this. I'm sure your cranium lobes are in knots trying get things to smooth out around here. Geeze!! I don't know how you do it!! You're a better man than I.

Music to my ears.

pre- and post-
spoiler- and non spoiler-
appreciation- and derision-

Just one thread per film, or would there be cause for more than one thread? Specially about the spoilers.
Maybe, as are on an Internet Movie Web-site, the notion of 'non-spoiler' seems a little redundant.
Is there already a thread discussing Versus?
Great idea to open a forum like this. The Main Sewer has kinda become a free-for-all now.
Haven't noticed much of a difference...people are still starting the ole' post-release, pre-release discussions in the main sewer.

So far, 3 separate topics across the boards have been started on Exorcist: The Beginning.
And there is about 5 (probably more) for Alien vs Predator. I haven't seen it, but I imagine itdoesn't deserve more than 1.
I think we should keep the pre-release, post release though. A lot of chewers, myself included, leave overseas. This means the films are often released a long time after the US. For example Chronicles of Riddick. This is being released here in the UK this weekend, 2.5 months after the US. Having a pre-release (no spoilers) thread has allowed myself to be mostly spoiler-free.
Oh ok I did weaken and go into post release just to gauge the reactions, but it's nice to have the choice to remain spoiler free. Also, I'm sure a lot of US chewers don't see the film on the opening weekend.
I'm sure the people who post soley for attention will still post multiple threads, but hopefully this will remain serious movie discussion.
I can't see a huge problem if the thread goes slightly off topic by discussing, for example the director's previous work. People can always bring it back if need be.
Maybe people should put in the title - the only, or the official, xxxxx thread.

I keep seeing Pre-Release and Post-Release threads popping up every day in the Main Forum. If there's a way for you to keep threads with those words in them from being started, perhaps that would be the only way to get people to realize there's a whole new forum for film discussion. That, or having someone with admin rights scour the first few pages of the Main Forum and moving these threads to the Focused Film Forum.
Well... I'm think it will take some time for people to realize that they need to make a thread for one movie ahead of time to over the pre and post aspects. I'm still a fan of the "post" threads, because of the avoidance of spoilers.
Why was the Revenge of the Sith thread moved? Batman is a franchise, and Batman Begins comes out after Episode 3, yet that thread remains here.

I'm one for not telling those on the main forum about this board at all. If they can't find it on their own let them stay lost.

Yeah, I think this is mostly due to Devin starting one when he posts a new article about a movie on the front page. Not blaming him, just giving a reason. I'm not sure how to avoid this, because that is the best place to find out about news on the front page, but it does tend to bloat the Main Page, like everyone says. It could be as simple as having Devin start posting his links to movie discussions here rather than there, saving someone having to move it here when it gets too busy.

Actually, I've always had a problem with the number of forums - I mean, do we REALLY need a separate DVD forum discussing reviews? And how is "focused discussion" different than discussing a film that's "on video or in release" - especially when that overlaps with, well, the DVD section.

You want fewer threads eating bandwidth, make forums less redundant. It's not like the DVD forums or release/video/focused are swamped with responses and topics anyway. A little streamlining might go a long way.

My nickel.

Main Sewer gridlock

I'll hazard a guess that I'm not the only one who rarely ventures past the Main Sewer board because I lose patience trying to locate topics in the sub-groups, let alone trying to find them again later.

Part of the problem, that's me...

Figured I should use my first post for something like this...

I'm guessing that Red Vs Blue Season 3's DVD is prolly not something to post in this one? Granted, its been out as web episodes now, but since S3 is about 2h and 10 minutes, it might constitute a film...

(EDIT: I should ask... if not this forum, which one?)
Didn't want to start a thread without checking if it a discussion was already going on about the movie I want to discuss...
Stranger than Fiction?
I did a quick search and didn't find a thread dedicated to the movie, so let me know if I can start one up. I think it's going to be a really good Fall film, and it's getting a lot of Oscar buzz, so it'd be a good addition to the board, IMO.

Is there already a thread for the animated TMNT movie? I found a large version of the new full trailer and I haven't seen any news on it.

http://www.reelnow.com/play.php?video_id=243

the largest version I could find. The HD will probably show up on apple by week's end.
