Eyes Without A Face

I made the road trip up yonder to Hotlanta to see this masterpiece on the silver screen at the Landmark Theatres Art Cinema late last year. So I know first hand what's in store when this flawlessly restored print is released by Criterion in October.

I gained more love by the second for the razor sharp-hard shadow contrasts of the expressionistic cinematography that's worthy of seperate appreciation in its own right.

When I got home the next day I felt like stomping my old THE HORROR CHAMBER OF DR. FAUSTUS tape to bits.

With the release of this on dvd and THE MANSON FAMILY in limitied theatrical. Halloween can't get here soon enough! Anyone planning on adding this one to their collection?

I do.

Haven't seen it in any form until now and cannot wait for the Criterion DVD. They did a kick-ass job with ONIBABA ...

I really loved Onibaba and although I admit my ignorance concerning this movie, I will be researching it and the CC version of it as well

Edit: I remember reading about this last week. Haunting cover and the movie sounds right up my alley(SP?)

Great horror movie, the ending is more terrifying than it has the right to be, if you know what I mean.

And yeah, the photography in this is top-notch. Five thumbs up!

Hell Yeah!

I acually shot an Idol show a couple of summers back when he renuited with Steve Stevens and he's never sounded better.

If you get a chance to watch his STORYTELLERS he makes mention of stealing the title directly from as he termed "Some twisted French Film".

ONIBABA is fantastic! I love the EC comixlike unnerving revenge ending.

Now where's UGETSU MONOGATARI?

I will definitely get this movie. It's going to be a Criterion release and expensive, but this is a movie that is worth every penny.

A true classic, in every sense of the word.

You can pre-order it directly from Criterion for $20.78 + free shipping.

It'll be at least $30, or more, about everwhere else.

Will do, if these boards don't become a ghost town and he ever gets down this way again. Supposedly he is working on new material, which I'd be more than a little apprehensive about seeing as everything since REBEL YELL as Billy would gladly put it "Kinda sucked that way." Although CYBER PUNK had its moments. We'll see.
