Looks weird but Russell is a can't miss filmmaker.

Great cast.

I've been waiting for this guy to put something out since I was blown away by Three Kings. I looked for a release date, but I couldn't find one. Anyone know it?

Last I read, it was October 1st in select cities. I too loved Three Kings, though I've heard this is more in the vein of Flirting with Disaster, a comedy of his you should see if you haven't already.

I've seen and loved Flirting. I know this is nothing like Three Kings. I also have a feeling this is nothing like Flirting.

Well, in terms of sardonic wit, this film will be more along the lines of Flirting With Disaster.

Also, I started a discussion thread for this film last week, prior to Nick's creation of this forum.

The poster was stolen from Rules of Attraction.

The poster wasn't stolen. Inspired or copied fine, and Rules of Attraction was not the first to ever use that design. It is Hollywood, designs and concepts and stories are constantly copied or reinvented. If anything, the Rules of Attraction poster looks like it could have been inspired by the editing of the original Thomas Crown Affair.

I want to se Huckabees, but I keep thinking, "this is the director Clooney knocked on his ass for being an ass." But, the concept looks highly interesting, so I will definately be there when it opens. Will be fun to see how they use the philosohpical concepts.

Now see, this I can get behind...looks funny, great cast and a an interesting concept (I'm a Buddhist so the interconnectedness of life fascinates me). Is it wrong that this looks better than The Life Aquatic? Should I seek therapy because I'm a movie geek and I think Wes Anderson is overrated and the trailer for Life is boring to me? Should I stop comparing the two films? I don't know...

Isn't it possible they're both good? Man, that would make me estatic.

This looks awesome. Quite an interesting concept. I hope it actually works.

Loved it, the cast was excllent and I loved the debates they got into, never found myself bored.

Agreed. it's hard to get bored watching this. the pacing is great and the dialogue is just really involving, kind of in the way Before Sunset was.

Devin may be mildly surprised to read this due to the violently allergic reaction I had to Waking Life, but I really enjoyed this pic. This is how I like seeing existentialism probed onscreen: Less didactism, more abstraction and entertaining performances.

"She called it Fuckabee's!"

Easily one of my favorite movies of the year. Was expecting to be slightly alienated by it and find it hard to "get in to" but it was great. I never thought I'd say Mark Wahlberg was my favorite part of a movie, but he stole every scene here. And his boots....

Two favorite parts

1) Tommy signing out their bikes in hasty get-a-way.

2) Jon Bions music swells to the picture of the polaroid and the discovery that the two main rivals are the same, loved that part.

Jon Brion should get a nomination for his score and/or for "Knock Yourself Out", amazing stuff.

What else has Jon Brion done? Between this and Eternal Sunshine I really love the guy, but am too lazy to research him.

Went into this film blind, knowing nothing about the plot. Fantastic performances by all, and like Devin, I left the theater with a smile. Just a solid movie all around. Was a bit curious as to how they were going to tie the movie up, and was very pleased with the results. Everything is a blanket, indeed.

Favorite scenes:

1. The mud sex
2. Mark Wahlberg's character in the Open Spaces meeting, talking about petroleum and cystic fibrous
3. The dinner table, with Jean Smart, Wahlberg, et al.

I always forget what an entertaining actress Lily Tomlin is.....she needs to do more movies.

I saw this today and loved it. Jason Schwartzman needs to be in more movies.

1) Magnolia
2) Punch-Drunk Love
3) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
4) I Heart Huckabees

Fantastic movie. Just worked perfectly. Not much more to say than that.

I loved it, it had the theater rolling with laughter. O Russell had just the right approach with this movie, if he'd taken a serious tone it would've failed miserably. It had one of the most unusual sex scene's in recent years and the whole cast was uniformly superb. I think it has to be right up there with Eternal Sunshine as one of the most uniquely visual movies to come out last year.
