The Passion of Darkly Noon

I saw this movie about three years ago on VHS and really enjoyed it. It has that nice Southern Gothic vibe about it. Are there any special features on the DVD?

The Reflecting Skin I saw about ten or more years ago when it was on TV. I didn't know anything about it but it sounded like it would be my sort of film. Bottom line is I loved it and lent out a copy of it to a friend of mine and never saw it again. It stands in my memory as one of the best films I've seen with it's atmosphere, visuals and offbeat storylines. (I won't give anything away since you haven't seen it).

I would love to pick this movie up on DVD but I don't believe it is available. The main reason is that I want to find out whether the film lives up to my previous one-and-only viewing. Sometimes, the mind can exaggerate an old opinion.

Highly recommended and I would love to hear your comments after you track it down.

Interestingly, at about the same time, Dust Devil was on TV and I lent that out and never got it back either. I remember really enjoying that movie too. Particularly a cool sequence where a house burns down. The music and a voiceover combined excellently, even on my old stereo TV. A 5.1 mix would be pretty cool. In DTS obviously...

I haven't seen this movie yet, but THE REFLECTING SKIN did little for me.

The kid was certianly in a awkward environment. The whole subtext of corruption amidst isolation and the surreal moments that it bread was thought provoking at times, but mostly meandering pretentions at the expense of the story.

Brendan Fraser's best movie. Saw it on tv years ago, I'm still mad at myself for not taping it. Why hasn't Philip Ridley directed anything after this?

I'm not sure how he claims that Dust Devil and Hardware are somehow linked!

Hardware is another movie I've only seen once and that was probably right when it came out. I didn't enjoy it too much at the time but then I was a young teen so I was most likely expecting some Terminator clone! It's a movie I would like to see again through older eyes.

Who owns HARDWARE? Wasn't it released briefly awhile back, then discontinued abruptly?

I don't get the connection between the two either, although there are vague apocalyptic simalarities, especially light in regards to DUST DEVIL.

Maybe Stanley is just trying to raise funds for a third feature and he's pitching it as such.

Oooh, I really liked The Reflecting Skin, nice moody, creepy movie. I will never forget, of all things, those poor frogs...

I'm glad I saw this post, The Passion of Darkly Noon sticks in my mind, because I remember getting a screener for it whilst working in video rental and I kept passing it up, it was marketed mostly, as I recall, as an erotic thriller type film, which wasn't something I was interested in (all I could think of was stuff like Return to Two Moon Junction or Poison Ivy).

I'll have to see if I can find this now - thanks again for the heads up ^_^
