I just picked up a cheap paperback that seemed like it might either be good or suck. Xombies written by Walter Greatshell it's called by A.J. Mathews as "28 Days Later meets Lord of the Flies"

WARNING: "This is the Emergency Broadcast Network. The epidemic known as Agent X has contaminated all but the most isolated pockets of the country. A state of martial law has been declared. Stay inside. Barricade all windows. Lock all doors. The infected are considered to be psychotic and extremely dangerous. Trust no one. This is not a test."

Like I said it could suck.

I'm reading two books simultaneously right now. Neither of which is horror though both are plenty horrific. One is DOPEFIEND by Donald Goines, a painfully realistic portrayal of the lives of heroin junkies in the 70ies. The auther was an addict for most of his short life himself and he obviously knows what he's talking about. The oher book is GUIDE by Dennis Cooper, who reminds me a lot of Bret Easton Ellis. Good stuff.

I am reading Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris, and Nightmares and Dreamscapes by Stephen King. Me Talk is hilarious and I've always thought King's short stories were creepier then his novels, not as good, but creepier. So far my favorite has been The Night Flier.

Heh. I was looking at Xombies the other day in the bookstore. I had no clue if it would be decent or trash, so I put it down. Let us know how it is.

Just started reading Obsidian Butterfly but Laurell K. Hamilton. The cashier at the bookstore recommended the Anita Baker Vampire Hunter series so I decided to give it a try. Next on tap.....Vampire deSade by Mary Ann Mitchell.

Picked up Charlaine Harris's "Club Dead" at the library, the second in the Southern Vampire novels. The first one, "Dead Until Dark" introduces Sookie Stackhouse, a girl who's psychic and her boyfriend Bill Compton, a Vamp who's been around since the Civil War. In this world, Vamps live alongside humans and not all of them are nice as Bill is. In this one, however, Sookie is devestated to find him doing something he promised he'd never ever do...

I'm juggling a few myself.

Just started TWILIGHT ZONE SCRIPTS & STORIES of George Clayton Johnson, and skipping over to Raymond Carver's WILL YOU PLEASE BE QUIET PLEASE.

Of course my TBR pile looks unconquerable right now, and I've been itching to re-read all of Ligotti's stories continuous, so THE NIGHTMARE FACTORY looks good at the moment.

Lessee... I took a lil detour from my list and reread The Haunted Air by F. Paul Wilson. It reaffirmed that I need to start from scratch and read the entire The Adversary Cycle and Repairman Jack novels in the new chronological order.

But until then I am back to The Coldfire Trilogy by C.S. Friedman. It amazes me how much I have forgotten...

I love that story, and the movie isn't so bad.

Repairman Jack is awesome. I can't wait for Crisscross, do you know when it comes out?

Xombies wasn't so good so now I'm reading Abarat and it's just as good as anything else Clive Barker has ever written so far. One of these damn days I need to start reading The Dark Tower over from the beginning now that the whole thing is out. It's been so long since I've read the first the only thing I remember is a beach.

Just finished FREEZER BURN by Joe R. Lansdale. Before that was TALES OF HORROR AND THE SUPERNATURAL by Arthur Machen: Vol 1 and 1/2 of Volume 2. Now I'm reading MAD DOG SUMMER by Lansdale. Then I'm going to dive into CHASING OBLIVION by Harlan Ellison. Thereafter I'll be reading a lot of short horror stories in the month of October, probably some Lovecraft, Bloch, maybe a touch of King. On the distant front, MUCHO MOJO by Lansdale.

Right now I'm reading THE RISING by Brian Keene and then moving on the HOUSE OF BONES by Dale Bailey.

I'm reading "There is no death and there are no dead". It's a book about EVP and ITC. I got it to do research for a script / treatment I was going write. I'm still reading the book because it's interesting but as far as the project goes, I stopped on account of White Noise. Oh well, someone beat me to it

Not horror, but just finished "Masters of Deception" decent little book about some hackers from the late 80's....

Currently I'm reading King's Everything's Eventual while I give plasma two days a week. It's kinda creepy reading King while there's blood being sucked out of you. I'm just waiting in there for everything to go all apeshit with the machines just spewing everyone's blood all over the white walls...maybe I shouldn't read King while I'm there.
