CBS's SUNDAY MORNING ran a 10 minute piece on OPEN WATER today. Comparing its intial indie success to the original TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, including clips from both. Then stacked OPEN WATERS' miniscule budget roots up in comparsion to big budget shark films JAWS and DEEP BLUE SEA.

There were interviews with the films two leads where they discussed their fear of having to swim with real sharks, Peter Taverns (ROLLING STONE), and the filmakers Kentis and Lau. Kentis actually made another indie film prior to OPEN WATER. Something I didn't know. And he works (or did until this films returns) as a film editor.

Then Bill Geiss went to Point Pleasant, West Virginia in search of the Mothman. I've always loved Geiss's sarcastic humor and this piece was no exception.

He covered the annual Mothman festival. The town unveiled a statue of the creature and locals talked of their first hand experiences seeing the Mothman.

Highlights included one lady saying with all seriousness "We drink beer on the weekends and run around and chase the Mothman."

Sounds like my kinda town!
