Hey...was just wondering if any of you Region Free nuts out there picked up the Region 2 special edition of Shaun of the Dead yet? Mine just came in the mail for me today from Amazon UK. I've had a fullframe convention copy of Shaun for the past month and absolutely love it. This dvd looks to rock..its packed with stuff! The menus are extremely cool and the outtakes are hilarious...there is tons more (including 4 commentaries) which im about to delve into... gonna watch the CAST commentary (with Shaun, Liz, etc...)

to anyone else who got it? what do you think of the disC?

I have it. Watched half of the director/writer commentary at 4.45am this morning. It's good stuff.

Got mine delivered on Saturday. Watched it Saturday night and again on Sunday morning. Brilliant.

Great commentary by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright. The outtakes are hilarious and the plot holes thing is cool as well. I have'nt found any easter eggs yet...

i listened to the 2nd Commentary with Simon Pegg and most of the cast and it was one of the better commentaries i've heard in some time...absolutely hilarious!

After reading Devin's interview with Edgar Wright I think I'll wait for the Region 1 release in (possibly) January. He mentioned that R1 would include some stuff that had to be cut from the R2 DVD to get a "15" rating in GB (some unPC alternate takes), plus some Land of the Dead cameo stuff.

I ordered mine from amazon.uk. It shipped on the 5th and I should be getting it in 3 or 4 days from now. And to say I can't fucking wait is a gross understatement.

I didn't really like the cast commentary. I dunno, I like ones that are funny, but ones that also inform at the same time, and that one really didn't for me. Plus I get annoyed when people take the piss out of other commentary tracks and then don't provide a decent one.

I liked that track. If it were the only one on the disc, I'd agree, but the Simon and Edgar track delivers all the informative stuff, the cast commentary is more for fun (what else would you expect with five comedy actors in one place?) while the track with Bill Nighy and Penelope Wilton is just awesome. It really is like listening to your parents watching the film - "Ooh, now that wasn't neccesary" and "He's a zombie now. He got bitten. Shame".

I haven't listened to that one yet. I agree it's made easier by the fact the Wright/Pegg one is so awesome.

It's weird though, watching Penelope Wilton in a zombie movie when I used to watch her in Ever Decreasing Circles every week. Surreal stuff.

A balatant copy and paste job from my post on the Focused Film Disscussion Board...

Amazing DVD, genuinely hilarious extras, like the afformentioned 'Plot Holes' comics, and 'The Man Who Would Be Shaun'. There's also an original, very long Shaun story comic on the DVD which provides an origin for some of the zombies in the film, and some hilarious outtakes and such. The 14 extended scenes are all fairly minor, but the commentry that compliments them is very intuative. I havent started on any of the 4 commentries or the many docs yet.

Amazing package, and despite all this, still a single discer. Makes you laugh at some of the Studio 2-discers with maybe one commentary on disc one and then two docs on the second disc. Here we have the film, 14 extended scenes, 4 comentries, about 4-5 docs, trailers/TV spots, TV sequences from the film in full, and even MORE other features I can't be bothered to type up. It's absoultely packed, with no loss at all in picture quality.

And I thought the cast commentary ruled, mucho witty banter within. If it's Production Details your after then the Director commentry is really what you're after, and thats still funny as well as being informative.

Ooooh, hot shit!!! Even though amazon.uk website estimated I'd get my disc between the 13th and the 16th it came today!!! How's that for a slice of fried gold?

From the UK to Pittsburgh in less than a week. Hooray!

I really hope this phrase becomes a "Groovy" for the new millenium.

Bill Nighy has the best comment on the entire disc.

(Zombie gets shot in head)"EAT SHIT MOTHERFUCKER."

It's a great disc. my fave things on it have to be the plotholes comics, the Joe Cornish diary and the Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg commentary (the others are good too). but I laughed the most at the Shaun and Pete pretend to be John Lennon and Paul McCartney outtake, and The Man who would be Shaun.

Finally sat down to watch this last night with a roomful of friends after we left the boozer. It was a crowd pleaser, to say the least. It more than lives up to the hype.

There`s a huge amount of extras on the dvd and ive only just scratched the surface of them

Watched this Saturday night, and man - I really loved it! I wasn't expecting much as I'm not a fan of horror-comedy movies, like the Evil Dead Series, Dead Alive (I know I'm a minority here in that respect), but thought I should see it as the original Dawn is my all-time favorite movie.

This movie was very funny, had some cool gore, and was obviously made by true fans of Romero's works. I even thought the zombie make-up was pretty good, far better than I expected for a comedy. I highly reccommend this film!!

I picked up a no frills bootleg while at Horrorfind Weekend in August. Had I known they were about to do a major release I'd probably have waited. Loved the movie though. I'll certainly be picking up the official Region 1 DVD when it's released.

In terms of cuts to get the 15 dvd rating - are these things that are cut since the theatrical release or is this exactly the same as the theatrical release?

Dogg.

The movie hasn't been cut for DVD at all. The only edit is the word "cunt" is bleeped out when its used on the commentaries and other special features. They got away with it once in the 15-rated movie (as did Being John Malkovich), but any more than that would make it an 18.
