I can't wait. I'm watching this tonight after the kids go to bed and I'm all ansty for it. I haven't seen this movie in years and years. I finally tracked down the DVD at Tower records and I just love the cover. I was going to make a post with my reactions after seeing it again but dammit I just can't wait.

Is this movie about killer snakes, giant killer snakes, or killer snake-men?

None of the above. I'll get into it later.

Me either. I do believe the last time I watched this film was when it aired as a movie of the week on network television sometime in the late 70s. I've been anxious to pick up a copy on DVD for myself.

Everything goes better with Strother Martin.

I'm sad that I never got to see this. I will have to track it down.

This movie was made when TV movies actually rocked. I remember seeing this when I was in Junior High and loving it.

Just got done watching the DVD and I swear it is different than I remembered still a great movie though. For 1973 the effects are nicely done for the most part. Jack Sssssss, with 7 s's, is about a mad scientist, the aforementioned Strother Martin, who is on a quest to develop a syrum which genetically changes a man into a snake. In the opening shot we see one of his failed attempts, his first assistant, being loaded on a truck and taken to a carnival where he will reside in the freak show as the snake man. We get to see him eventually and eerie is a good word for it. The new assistant is Dirk Benedict and we follow him through the course of his changing.

I'm not sure if this movie would go over so well with the younger audiences of today but to me it's a great piece of nostalgia. The transfer looked fine and the audio was adequate though there are no special features. Strictly bare bones. I hope others watch this who have seen it before and can tell me if I'm just remembering the movie wrong or if it is indeed a different cut.

I'm glad to finally add this puppy to my collection.

Do you find that happens often with films you haven't seen in awhile? I do. Sometimes it's just a matter of a word or two of dialogue I remember differently. Other times it may be complete sequences that I could've sworn happened another way. I usually chalk that up to having watched a film once as a kid and not watching it again until years later. Maybe it's selective memory and I remember the film as I wish it had been.

Yeah deliberate alot of it is just the way I remembered it as a kid like I had the ending completely wrong in my head and I chalk that up to my own imagination changing the story over the years. There are little bits here and there that I swear were different though but then why would they change the film after all these years for a DVD release. It's not as if there was any gore or anything like that. I guess it's all just me.
