Not sure this qualifies for ALL TIME, but still: I just moved into a new apartment a few months back, and have been making semi regular trips with my mom to the mall and various shopping centers in order to outfit my new place with the essentials. Today I picked up some cool towels and a wash cloth (in 'garnet') from TARGET, from BED BATH AND BEYOND a CALPHALON lid thing for my skillet in order to prevent splatter when using high heat, some kickin new SKETCHERS from JC PENNY's, plus some YANKEE CANDLES (vanilla lime) in order to disguise the smell of my neighbor's loathsome cat. I also had been on the look out for some sort of decorative motion element for my apartment, in order to make things feel more lively. Initially it was my goal to seek out a little motorized indoor water fountain, of the kind found for 10-20 dollars at places like TARGET and RITEAID, ETC. However, while at the mall, my mom and I passed a sign that said "50% OFF BLACK LIGHT STUFF AND LASERS!", and immediately my focus shifted. I got it in my head that what I
really needed was a giant plasma ball, since I've always wanted one and this seemed like the perfect chance to have someone else pay for it. I convinced my mom we needed to go get the advertised 8" diameter model for $19.99. She headed in with me to pick it out, but unfortunately having not been inside a SPENCER'S GIFTS since high school (when one was last located at our mall - this new SPENCERS replaces a former HOT TOPIC, for some reason), I was oblivious to the fact that apparently plasma doodads are conveniently stocked right next to the giant wall of fetish sex toys and assorted kink equipment that SPENCERS seems to have added to it's inventory since I last stopped by back in the day. It was awkward, and neither of us could acknowledge the awkwardness or else it would have been even worse. I now have my ridiculous plasma ball (which is pretty great).. but in retrospect I wish I'd gone with something else for my impulse buy of the week
EDIT: ok it was worth it:
