Really, I've heard it was terrible.

If I remember correctly the reviews really bashed it right into the ground.

What is the general gist of it? Does it have any replay value?
I think it has replay value if you love being in the Evil Dead universe and as zombiebabe mentioned gettin destructive with a chainsaw. It's not perfect by any stretch but I get a total kick out of it.
Wow!

Robyn you're a real cutie! What is not to love, looks and a brain

This thread is getting more interesting by the minute.

(Sorry, couldn't help myself. Please don't hit me on the head, I'm already leaving. I'm chosing some other thread to discuss HORROR movies...)

I get paid to be sexy.

No really, I dream about what it would be like to be a famous author and basically get shit for free even though I have monetary income larger than most third world countries.

No seriously, I'm a computer programmer by day, horror movie nut and struggling writer by night.
I am in telecommunications but that is only so I can make enough money to feed my horror habit.

I have dillusions of writing a great horror script and someday making it in the business.

AG are you back or did you just come in here to make fun?

By the way, speaking of horror... did any of you read this weeks Rant?
I read it. Interesting stuff about the blood. How come movie blood never looks real enough? It always has that translucent, gluey quality.
The blood in Bones was the worst I've ever seen. Looked like paint. You're gettin the hang of it now Robyn. Good article. When you watch a horror movie can you tell how they made the blood?
Yeah that was a good article, finally some of that behind the scenes skinny that we've been waiting for. Ya did a "bloddy" good job.

I think alot of movies that have budgets , go for the real expensive fxs and most of the time recently, the blood is mainly CGI... which I think Sucks... I mean, the horror movies from the 70s is the type of blood that looks real (in my opinion)... maybe thats why so many of the films from then are classics.

I haven't been in this forum in awhile. Its cool to see articles from someone in the business. Welcome Robyn.

About your first article: its been no mystery to me for quite awhile that chicks dig video games, but its always nice to read and see such a gorgeous gal as yourself to be into video games as confirmation.

About your second article: my coworker bought some donuts this Monday. And in protest to her assertions that anyone eating a donut must wear the krispy kreme hats, I bit into a raspberry filled donut (know where this is going yet?), and squeezed the filling out (into the trashcan) while it was hidden from their view and next to my cheek. The texture was maybe a little to viscuous, but the color seemed close. But from their response the effect was pretty good. Bloody vomitus, baby!!!

True, and as Hellspawn said shite. I got the whole Argento thing but that doesn't make that steaming pile anywhere near a good movie.

yes, for some reason, sugar seems to be the key ingredient o good blood... in my opinion, sugar is the key ingredient to everything though... I have a sweet tooth

I agree on the sentiment, but unfortunately I don't think it's up to the director or the writer. I mean, Zhang Yimou is a respected Chinese director and has been for decades, but it took the might of Quentin Tarantino, someone who had nothing to do with Yimou's film, to get HERO released, and in its original version. The corporations (Disney, DreamWorks et al) come in and buy up the rights to movies like RINGU and consign them to the ancillary markets, while their remakes get the big push at the box office because they're unable to see the possibility of a little Japanese movie making money, and they don't want people to shy away from their remake because they've already seen the original. Thankfully, it seems to be changing a bit, but unless you have someone like Tarantino backing your film up, you have little chance against the studio system. Take for example the great movie INFERNAL AFFAIRS, a stunning movie which was released in the US with little to no fanfare recently, while when THE DEPARTED, the Martin Scorsese remake arrives, it'll be publicised to hell and back. Of course, that might also have to do with the fact that it was Miramax distributing it and not WB, who are producing the remake.

It seems the audiences are beginning to see the attraction of foreign movies now, especially the Asian contingent with movies like OLD BOY getting actual cinema releases when before they would have been consigned to a Tartan DVD release and eventually put out in the States by someone like Media Blasters, and in the UK, Tartan and others are doing well with cinema releases, but in the US, I can't see it changing much. Unless you have a CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON or someone on the Tinseltown power list backing your flick ala HERO. Shame, really. I'd have killed to see ICHI THE KILLER on the big screen.

Congrats on the honors, btw.

This year has bummed me out. After last year I guess I was expecting the flood gates to open but here we are in October and there is nothing. I'm not looking forward to The Grudge either. Now an American remake of Audition would be sweet but I doubt it'd be as hard hitting. The thing is Asian cinema is just as poor as American cinema and yet everyone raves about films like The Eye, at least I think that's what it's called. A boring ghost story with one or two interesting shots and a totally Hollywood ending. At least we have House 2 to look forward to next year and possibly the first film adaptation of a Book of Blood story from Clive Barker's studio.

I think The Machinist is the only movie this year I'm looking forward to now. That and the release of the Dawn of the Dead remake on DVD with some extra lovin. I'm not against remakes in any way all I ask for is good horror wether that be classic horror or gore or a good old fashioned monster movie. Something, anything. At least I have my DVD collection.

Congrats on everything zombibabe. I love your attitude. You deserve it all.

Well seems like im late to the party but congrats robyn! At the rate your going you'll be a bigger name in horror than vincent price and certainly prettier.

Is this a joke? Are you for real? 10 seconds with google would have confirmed this. That you can't be bothered to perform such a laborious task speaks volumes.

I was kind of surprised because it looks creepy but it also looks like it is The Ring also.
I take it no-one edits your copy, because that scans like shit. Do you even use a keyboard, or are you using voice recognition software, merrily wittering whatever inanities float through your pretty little head?

Quote:
I think all of these remakes are very disappointing and I personally think...
You personally think? Who do you usually think for? To be honest, I'm struggling with the concept of you performing anything more complex than blinking right now. Also, repitition kills sentence structure and pulls the reader out of the text.

Hollywood always pushes aside really great scripts
What? Moronic statement. What purpose does pushing aside a great script serve a film studio? Yours is clearly a nonsensical proposition. That means it's an idea that is absurd or contrary to good sense.

Quote:
and this thing where no one can submit scripts to a major studio without an agent in ridiculous but I guess it does help, I know I would be sending them anything I could put on paper considering I have no clue how they pick some of the films they do.
I'd love to read some of your film ideas, please post some.

In any case this is my rant of the week... HOLLYWOOD WAKE UP... WE WANT SOME GOOD BLOOD IN THE THEATERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What, all over the seats? But that would ruin my dress!

Quote:
I have to say Shaun of the Dead is the most refreshing film I have seen recently.... And yes, I went to the theater
How did it "refresh" you?

I like how your plug for some horror festival is as long as your "rant".

Congratulations on being high-pitched noise-wench of the lunar cycle, I'm sure the competition was intense and the hard work it required to reach such dizzy heights a taxing thing indeed.

Monkey, did you just read my mind?

I gotta warn you though, these folks here won't appreciate your comments...
