Albeit not in the Top 5 of his career, the THE STENDHAL SYNDROME is nevertheless a very good film, with some classic Argento moments ... Having seen it for the first time on DVD the other night, I was pleasantly surprised at how much gusto Dario still had at that point in his career ( 1996 ) ...
Although Asia was a bit young at the time to play a cop, her presence onscreen was excellent, and her character was very good considering that most of Dario's main characters are a bit thin ...
Ennio Morricone's score was ( as usual ) excellent, and the tone was very meanspirited ( even for Argento ) ........... Unfortunately, I watched the Troma DVD which looked awful, but from what I have read there is an import double DVD set that looks great ...
Will history show THE STENDHAL SYNDROME as Dario's last stand, or does he still have something left in the tank ??? .... and has anyone else seen any version other than the Troma DVD ???
