What horror flicks have you been watching or plan on watching?

This weekend I've watched several horror flicks and it aint over yet. I've watched Ginger Snaps Back for a second time and it got a little better this time around. I've also rewatched The Fly and The Thing. Two of my favorites along with House of 1,000 Corpses for the umpteenth time. I just can't seem to get enough of that movie. I plan on finally digging into the Dawn of the Dead deluxe edition, or whatever it's called, for the first time. I've been away in Minnesota for the most part since I brought it home and haven't had time. I also want to get to the Stendahl Syndrome after Boys post about it.

So what have you other horror freaks been watching?

This week it's been all Shaun. I've watched the UK Shaun of the Dead DVD three times and it keeps getting better with each viewing. I plan on getting into the extras tonight. I also watched Ginger Snaps Back and I was pleasantly surprised. I thought that the early word on that movie was that it wasn't any good but I liked it a lot. Beautifully shot and a great ending. I also watched In the Mouth of Madness last night for my Carpenter fix. It's still been a long time since I've seen anything good at the theater but the home theater has been playing a few great ones this week.

Yes. Thank God for the home theatre.

Who doesn't need a Carpenter fix every once in awhile. In my case it's just about every week.

The Bloodstained Shadow, Short Night of Glass Dolls, Jungle Holocaust, Zombi Holocaust, and Vamp.

Saw the Shaun of the Dead sneak and it kicked my ass and made me scream its name into the night. Plan on seeing it at least twice more, at night with packed audiences. The sneak crowd started out unsure (no real laughs during the first ten minutes) but by the end were laughing at every joke. There was even a good deal of applause during the end credits.

I also in the last week finally saw Dead Ringers (great) and Evil Dead Trap (it was cliched but had a few pretty good parts) and, while not horror, I'm halfway through Miike's "Deadly Outlaw Rekku." It's Riki Takeuchi getting glorious Yakuza revenge. Good stuff.

Watched The Evil Dead again last night. Rented Bruiser for the second time, and damnit screw all the haters I like that movie. Also just watched The Faculty for like the 6th time. Best of the "Teen" horror movies that came out after Scream. I wish a sequel had been made.

I began last week with Ingmar Bergman's HOUR OF THE WOLF, which is about as close to horror as he ever got, but was disturbing, eerie and bizarre nonetheless ... Excellent film, and really disturbing and bleak ...

Next up was THE STENDHAL SYNDROME which was really quite good ... Having previously only seen a bootleg VHS, the Troma DVD was ok, but I still would like to find the supposedly great looking import DVD set ...

And for tomorrow, I've got ALONE IN THE DARK which is one I've never seen ... Later in the week I'll revisit RESURRECTION ...

I've got my SHAUN OF THE DEAD screening tomorrow, right after THE FORGOTTEN (horror double feature?), and later this week, I'd like to rent something, possibly HELLRAISER.

I just wathced The Faculty as well, and I liked it. Since then I haven't watched any horror movies since then, but I did see Snathc(fantastic) and The Boondock Saints(also fantastic). I'm currently in the middle of Clear and Present Danger. I'm gunna rent Mouth of Madness this weekend since I've never seen it.

I might see "Shaun of the Dead" when it comes out. It looks HILARIOUS.
ding-dong ...

Actually, I watched WAIT UNTIL DARK ( not ALONE as I stated before ) ...

It was excellent, and there were scenes and bits of music that obviously had an influence on John Carpenter ... The score is great ( Henry Mancini ), and there were bits in which I was thought I was hearing some of the more subtle moments in the HALLOWEEN score ...

Audrey Hepburn was perfect, and Alan Arkin was excellent as the skiddish villian ...

I saw JU-ON on Sunday and it's been haunting me ever since.

At home I'll be watching "Halloween III", I just purchased it.

And I don't care what anybody says, I think it's great campy fun.

I still need to watch Ginger Snaps Back, damnit!

I re-watched Night of the Living Dead a few nights ago, I love that movie.

I want to pick up some silly campy horror soon, I'm probably going to pick up a few low budget monster movies and have myself a night.

Can't believe you still haven't seen it WG. What's up with that?

I reccomend The Relic. It has a cool monster, some pretty good gore, Tom Sizemore, and some atrocious dialogue. I love that movie.(book is way better though)

I love the Relic as well Jack but I wouldn't call it campy or low budget. I also think the book is a great read and is, of course, much better than the movie. Try The Reliquary as well, its sequel.

I'm tossin in The Brood now.

I was pretty underwhelmed by The Brood. I guess all the hype on here got me. I thought the first 3/4 of the film were all in all pretty boring with a decent little ending that didn't quite make up for the rest of it. I wish I had seen this when I was younger it might have had a different effect on me.

Well, I just made the mistake of renting both Mimic 3 and Wes Craven Presents Dracula 2. Mimic 3 really had some fun moments and actually had some unique direction for a STV movie. Still I found it wanting. Dracula 2 was utter shit. That's all I really have to say. As far as ratings go I give Mimic 3 a 5/10 and Dracula 2 a 3.5/10.

I too need a Carpenter fix so I watched THE FOG.

Also:

Dawn of the Dead Deluxe Edition
Resident Evil: Apocalypse
Final Desitination 2
Hannibal
Day of the Dead
Night of the Living Dead (Savini version)

Yeah, I've read all the books in that series. I really liked the newest one, Brimstone, but it really left you hanging on the end.

I liked both In the Mouth of Madness and Near Dark, but is it posible that Blockbuster carries an edited version of Near Dark?

I just bought and watched Sleepy Hollow. I hadn't seen it since the release in 1999, and I had forgotten how good it is.

Johnny Depp is fantastic in that. He's the only "pretty boy" actor who actually has talent. As for the film. I like how it manages to be a horror film, a mystery, and even a comedy of sorts.
