Anyone else pick this monster up yet. It's an awesome issue with a great interview with Clive Barker. The very reason I picked up Abarat. Can't wait to check out the films of blood from his label Midnight Picture Show. They promise 2 a year. Just another reason I haven't given up hope on the horror genre.

It's the Sears' Christmas Wish Book of horror publications! Love it!

The interview with Clive Barker was probably one of the best interviews I've ever read in a magazine. Really deep stuff about Clive and the things that he's gone through. Jen really knows how to conduct an interview.

Yeah she asked some great questions. He really wanted to talk about his homosexuality.

I guess so.

...We had recently had the Halloween parade here in West Hollywood. My other half had gone as a demon, as a very well-hung demon...he depicted himself many shades blacker, he'd hung a thirteen-inch dildo from his groin, had a horse's tail, horns, the whole bit.
But it's cool and sad that it leads into his story about having to edit that from his intro for the Books Of Blood special edition, that there's still that kind of narrow-mindedness in this day and age, all in the name of not wanting to offend people, especially when it may affect sales. Which is weird, considering the source material that the introduction's for.

True. I think the man should write about whatever he wants at this point and in this day and age he should be able to be as open as he wants to be about everything but I got the impression he was forcing some of that out there. I think he may feel the hardcore fans just can't accept the fact that he's gay but I think that's bullshit. There may be some out there that find it offensive but I think the majority of people today are open minded enough to handle it. Except his editor and agent I guess which is really f'd up considering they are both gay as well. Maybe I read too much into it though it just seemed to me that just about every answer he had contained something about his sexuality. Still, I thought it was a great interview.

I remember when he came out in Entertainment Weekly. That took some serious courage and it did to a degree hurt his career.

I have no problem with the fact that he is gay but that it ate up a large chunk of the article bugged me. Being gay isn't all that interesting to me and certainly not what I look for in a Rue Morgue article. If I want articles on sexuality, I'll buy Diva.

Dogg.
