The Hellraiser figures shoulda been....

McFarlane. I was thinking about how the Spawn figures are the best looking figures ever made with all this Spawn vs. Hellboy action and then I started to think about how crappy looking the Hellraiser figures are. Clive works with McFarlane on his line of figures so why didn't McFarlane get the rights to do Hellraiser. They would have been 10 times better at least. I was really pumped about the Hellraiser figures until I saw them firsthand. Ugly.

McFarlane didn't buy the Hellraiser license because it cost too much. The only way to make money on it was to do statues, prop replicas and several series of figures and he only wanted to do the original four Cenobites. That would have been fine with me. I'm a huge Hellraiser fan, but who wants the Cenobites from the DTV sequels on their shelves? I think several of the sculpts on the NECA figures are good because most of them were done by former McFarlane employees. Some of the paint jobs are pretty poor and you do have to look around to find a decent one. Other than that, I've been satisfied with them. NECA did a good job on the brass and wood Lament configuration and that is something that McFarlane would never have done. The Pillar of Souls and Leviathan are also very cool ideas.
P.S. The 18" Mezco Hellboy figure is the best looking figure ever made.

I think they should've given it to Hasbro. I've always wanted to see Pinhead with Soul-Seeking Rocket Launcher.

Speaking as someone who owns every single Hellraiser related figure, I think Neca did an amazing job. Sure, some of the paint apps are a bit sloppy, but Mcfarlane is guilty of that just the same. Anyway, if Mcfarlane had done this series, you wouldn't have the amazing add ins like The Pillar Of Souls, Leviathan, etc. Mcfarlane would have made one single series with the original cenobites and that would have been it.

Neca are doing a much better job of making what the fans want and how they want it. Have you seen Dr Channard? I can't imagine how someone couldn't be thoroughly impressed with that figure alone.

I have seen them all in person and I wasn't impressed with any them. In fact I couldn't be more disappointed as I've already made clear. They look cheap and as already stated have shitty paintjobs that McFarlane is not guilty of. They look like toys to me not artwork. Not something to be displayed. To be honest I can't see how anyone can honestly say they look good.

Well I think they look fucking awesome, and I don't have any problem with them seeming like toys. I've picked up my fair share of Mcfarlane toys and I can say for a fact that the paint applications aren't always on the spot.

If you have a problem with these figures just go get the model kits.
