MYTHBUSTERS on Discovery - Page 2

Is it me, or did we lose a new episode during the Olympics? I swear there was supposed to be a new one, and I turned it over and it was some How It's Made marathon or some crap.

This was the first one my DVR picked up in a while... so if there was one, my DVR missed it. The last one I had prior to this, was the one where they tested gas consumption with road rage and if more people died from splinters than cannon balls.

The latest one (I think) was them debunking the "Landing on the Moon" haters (that I believe someone already mentioned) and one about viral videos that I still haven't watched yet. Some really cool stuff was done for the Moon landing one, like taking them up in a zero G plane to simulate the moon "walk" itself. And they did the "ping" from an observatory here on Earth to some device that had been placed on the moon during one of the missions. I believe Penn & Teller also did that same test on an episode of "Bullshit!" when they addressed some of the Moon Landing non-believers.

So season 7 started off with quite a bang! Cool episode called demolition derby. Among the many destructive myths tested there was one involving a rocketsled and a pulverizing car:

If the actual scientific process were this awesome, I would say something snarky and overly critical about how Adam and Jamie test these myths. However, I like to think I'm better than that, so I'll just say:

That was fucking awesome!

Mythbusters moves to Monday nights... tonight at 9 ET, they test the 'cannon' that Kirk builds to defeat the Gorn in "Arena." Should be a good one.

awww...the cannon was busted.

I'd love for them to do more James Bond and MacGyver myths.

I didn't know that it was gonna be one of six they did in one show, but yeah.. bamboo cannon? Busted. The re-enactment of the Star Trek scene was quite amusing.

POTUS TO BUST MYTHS!

The President will be going on MYTHBUSTERS, and has requested that the show revisit the infamous Archimedes Super Laser "myth" (Given the antikythera mechanism, I highly doubt that it's a "myth" at all, just for the record). The show has covered this previously, but I like that Obama is choosing a topic from classical history that might get more youngsters to read about Greece

In all seriousness, I also wonder if it's a topic of interest for him because of our military's recent developments in the field of lethal combat lasers.

This is pretty cool. Regardless of political affiliations, Jamie and Adam have to be pretty jazzed about getting the freaking President on their show. It's really great to see how far a couple of special effects nerds have come.

What are their political affiliations? Are they republicans? Or were you just saying it would be an excellent 'get' for any TV host?
