Just picked this bad boy up and am now commencing a weekend of Jason. Woohoo.
How much did it cost?
I got mine for $52 from Target. I really don't know why I picked it up, considering I can't stand half of the series. Oh well. At least I have every entry of each "Big 3" series now.

Picked it up Tuesday and have watched a few of the extras and part 1. What happened to the commentary? I thought there was going to be commentaries on them.

Hmmm, not sure about that. I'm about to get into part one and possibly two tonight. I've only seen a few of these and Jason X so for the most part they'll be new experiences.

Enjoy the movies, Floydian Trip. I got my set and plan on watching the first movie tomorrow night. Can't wait for some hack and slash.

Like you, I've only seen a few of the movies. The first one and the fourth one,and the one where Jason takes Manhatten. The others will be like to new to me.

That's what I needed some mindless killing.

Just got done with the first. I haven't seen it in years. I forgot Kevin Bacon was in it. He didn't last very long. That'll teach him to fornicate in a horror movie. Definitely one of the better kills though. The arrowhead through the throat from under the bed, very nice.

The lack of commentaries is probably due to them putting two movies on each DVD. I doubt there'd be much room left. I'm not overly impressed with the packaging. It seems like one of those "classic" box sets with like 50 movies for the price of one. The video and audio of the first didn't impress me much either but it is an old film.

Still it's great to have them all in one set like this. I have resisted buying the individual movies becasue I knew they'd eventually do something. Too bad they couldn't have put more into it.

Ah well, on to Part II........

I think the lack of commentary on part one is because Warner Bros have already done one for the foreign markets, which they distribute the film in. Paramount no doubt tried to licence that, and I guess WB said no, so they decided to go without, or maybe there's some weird legal thing about commentaries.
I hope this isn't a stupid question, but why are there only 8 Friday the 13th films in the box set?
After JASON TAKES MANHATTAN, New Line bought the rights to the series from Paramount, so JASON GOES TO HELL, JASON X and FREDDY VS JASON were all distributed and produced by New Line and thus aren't included because it's a Paramount collection.

Come back here and let me know what you thought about 6/7? Them and 4 are my favorites.

I remember a couple halloweens ago SpikeTV aired All the Jason movies one after the other in a marathon. I remember by Part III I couldn't stand it anymore. They all started to melt together in to one big orgy of bad dialogue and cheap scares. But I digress, I will also be picking up a copy of this sometime down the road but not right now. There are better horror movies I still don't have yet.

Shame, you would have missed the two best episodes (PART IV - THE FINAL CHAPTER and PART VI - JASON LIVES.)
Part VI is my favorite of the series as well. I like the Jason movies, but I don't know if I like them well enough to get the box set. Especially if it doesn't have Jason X. I had an absolute blast seeing that in the theater. I buy the set used if I find it online somewhere.
I'm not buying this set. I'm holding out hope for the day when a Friday the 13th boxed set has commentary on every film and each film has ITS OWN DISC.

I don't care if it costs more. Putting two films per disc... cheap Paramount bastards. They do DVDs probably worse than anybody now.

I can't wait to dig into this. First one is set for tonight!

I think Jason X is a very cool movie. It didn't take itself too seriously but had all the right elements in it to make it one of the best. Not that I've seen many, yet, but I don't see them getting much better.

I have to agree on Jason X being a cool, fun movie. My favorite sequence is the hologram scene where they put Jason back at the camp. Sleeping bag fun!

Just watched Friday the 13th! On to part 2!!!!!
That's funny, because I researched and wrote a ten page term paper on how unfake wrestling has become.

On topic, I'm too bitter about them being uncut to consider buying this. I have a nice copy of the original one uncut, though, and Mr. Bacon's death, among others, is great stuff! I've heard that parts 3,4, and 7 have bootleg uncut versions running about but I imagine somewhere in time there are unedited versions of the entire series. I could be wrong.

That hologram sequence made the movie for me. It was brillient. I also loved when Jason froze a girl's face and then smashed it into the sink. I felt like Beavis, muttering to myself, "Heh heh. That was cool!"

Just watched Part II and it was great.

It was great seeing the lovely Amy Steel.

As crappy as Jason Takes Manhattan is, nothing beats the boxing kill. That scene and Jason's new found ability to teleport is reason enough to see this movie.
I'm in the process of finishing it up watching Jason takes Manhattan right now but I have to say the highlight of any of the extras has been Kane Hodder's commentary on The New Blood.
