Y'know, I like Neil Patrick Harris as an actor, but I've never seen anyone try harder to shake the image he had as a child actor than him.

First it was "Starship Troopers," as a fascist mindreader
Then he played himself as a degenerate bastard in "Harold And Kumar."
Now this. Hell, I even remember when he played Bart as an evil thug on a Fox telefilm on "The Simpsons."

I keep getting the feeling he may be trying too hard sometimes.

I think to a degree, yes. Goran's creepiness own gets amped up when he's looking for psychos, and I think the writers/producers realize it. I loved how he empathised with Harris' character even though what the dude did was truly horrifying. BTW, I thought Harris was really good in that role.
