Anyone have any input on this? I play most FPSs that come out but I recall this getting mostly shitty, dismissive reviews, and passed on it. I noticed in the X-box "best of" segment in XBN that they gave it a 9. So who do I believe?

I've also been mildly curious about this one especially now that the price is at 10 to 20 dollars at most electronic retailers. For that price I figure you can't really go wrong...Unless it's Triggerman ::shudder::

I picked up a used copy a few months ago and only played it for a few hours before getting too frustrated to continue. There are some AWESOME ideas at work, but the wretched control saps most of the fun out of it.

I haven't played both but apparently Riddick covered a lot of the same ground, but in a far better way. The main difference between them being that Riddick had 3rd person sections, whereas in Breakdown everything is in third person, whether it's eating, drinking, throwing up in a toilet or rappelling down a building.

the game is pretty bleh, half of it feels like a first person rock climbing simulator. nice plot though.

It's interesting. I haven't played a lot of it yet, but it definitely seems to have a pretty cool story and is kind of weird in its own way. I've only played a bit of the beginning and wasn't really feeling it, but it definitely got more interesting once your character get some of his weird powers. Makes the hand to hand stuff pretty cool. I'd say it's worth $10-$20.

Do you get to drop an 18-wheeler on JT Walsh during the final battle?

Slater nails it. There was a demo on an OXM disc a few months back, and, while you could really appreciate what they were trying to do, and the game looked great, the controls were just too bloody awkward to be useful.

Thanks for the input everyone, decided on a 7.99 copy of Baulders Gate instead and having a blast with it.
