First of all this aint Samuel its his mate. I cant register for some reason. Any way just wondering wat u lot think of the Gamecube. I bought one Of this guy from college £50 and a few games for Gamecube 2 pads, memory card, 8 games including. wind waker , smash bros, monkey ball , resident evil, mario party, soul caliber 2 , Mario sunshine, luigis manshion. And ive bought resident Evil 0 and viewtiful joe << Amazing. I know Nintendo are a controversial subject on this board. Just wondering wat u chewers thought of my purchase. P.s I know how much Samuel hates Nintendo
post #2 of 39
Really? Nintendo is controversial?

Super Monkey Ball is a game of pure joy. I've had more fun with my Gamecube than with my PS2. You'll get nothing but Gamecube love from me.

Lots of people dig Nintendo. Some just see it as not worth the investment because the system and games seemed to die off quickly. (In terms of the general gaming public.)

So far im in love with Viewtiful joe even though it kicks my ass. I take it into college with me for free periods, 4 way smash bros is pretty crazy the amount i paid for it is a real bargain. I think it works out at $80-90 n a few games whihc were jsut gathering dust.

So much for computer games improving your hand-eye co-ordination.

Ive ordered one of the wrestlemania games off Ebay will arrive soon. Are there any other fun 4 player games i should no about. My main console is the xbox so i dont know much about which cube games to get.
Meanwhile, I'm thinking of dumping my Cube. Everytime I walk into a retail or rental store and see four or five racks of Xbox and PS2 titles and see one tiny little rack of GC games, it becomes more clear to me it's time to get out. Zelda and Mario ain't enough to keep me around.

I'd be pretty pissed if i paid full price when they first came out, but it was cheap so im not really bothered. Resident Evil 4 will be a cool enough games along with viewtiful 2
post #10 of 39
metroid prime, skies of arcadia legends, super monkey ball, smash bros. melee, and wind waker have easily justified the existence of my cube....though it now sits ignored thanks to the ever expanding (and great) x-box library.
For the most part, I feed my Cube ports......games that came out on all three systems without the graphical flaws and slow load times of the PS2, and with more comfortable controls than XBox.....unless it's a special case (trying to play SSX, MK: Deadly Alliance, or Capcom vs SNK on the Cube is a losing battle).

Unfortunately, like mongycore's, it's been neglected since I beat Spider-Man 2 back in July, while the pile of PS2 games continues to mount. That'll change come November, with LOTR: The Third Age, Viewtiful Joe 2, Metroid Prime Echoes, Baten Kaitos, and Resident Evil 4 all coming to take a bite of my wallet...and I still have to find some way to sneak Paper Mario in somewhere in the near future....

Needless to say, Nintendo still owns a piece of my heart. There'll be no Big N hate from here.
If you or your friends have a GBA, Pac Man Vs is one of the most fun 4 player games ever. You only need one GBA.
I haven't powered up my 'Cube in months. I really only bought it for the Rogue Leader games anyway. But I imagine I'll pick up Prime 2 and RE4.

They should have made a sequel to Eternal Darkness, dammit!

Resident Evil 4 is the main one for me. Capcom are finally going to offer something different. The new combat system looks really good and allowes u to shoot out certain areas. Shooting zombie dick is always hilarious.

I'm yet to play Metroid prime but i hear nothing but good things. Its pretty cheap now so ill pick it up.
In the same boat. Had some fun with my GC, but PS2 got more love until I got the XBox. Now GC is ignored, PS2 played for SOCOM II, and Xbox for everything else.

It's sad. Nintendo has had the history of making great games. Unfortunately, they are killing themselves by ignoring online gaming, and I think it's safe to say they will be going the way of SEGA if their next console doesn't have a hook to bring people back.

Disgruntled Gamecube owner rant...

The gamecube was worth my money only because I have 7-8 friends who are maniacally obsessed with Smash Brothers. THat game is almost perfect. It has infinite replay value and is a very very deep fighter (it doesn't get enough credit due to its cutesy exterior).

Metroid Prime is fantastic.

Wind waker is one of the best installments in the Zelda series bar none.

Viewtiful Joe is classic

But outside of that, the GC stagnated for almost 6 months in my posession and I bought an xbox earlier this summer and god Do I love it. Nintendo's policy on third party titles and just its general attitude towards gaming has really turned me off of them, and I used to be the biggest nintendo mark out there. Anyway, you got it for cheap, enjoy it, but don't expect to continue buying games for it on a semi regular basis because it just doesn't get enough AAA titles.
Metroid Prime: Echoes will be excellent, I'm sure. RE 4 looks like a killer app. And of course the next Zelda.

That's it, though. Third-party support just utterly evaporated this year, and come to think of it, so did second-party support. Zelda's due out late next year, and I suspect it will be the official swan song for the system.

As long as i get another year out of it im happy. Smash bros and super monkey ball 2 will never grow old. Monkey tennis is probably better than most other tennis games.
Metroid: Prime is the greatest console game ever made.
It's too bad none of you are into games like Mario Party or Donkey Konga. We've played both games so much on our 'Cubes that I'm surprised we haven't broken them. Add to these games the ones already mentioned in this thread, and I own more GC games than Xbox games (easily).

I love my GC and wouldn't even dream about getting rid of it.

i like mario party. I thought that game in mario party 4 in the dungeon was crazy fun. Where one of u jumped on a platfom the other turned it. Never have my hands felt pain like it.

....you forgot to mention you have a bfg geforce 6800 gt oc stashed away somewhere.....
Oh man, that mini game was awesome. Dungeon Duos, I believe it was. I think we woke our hall counselor a few times playing that late at night.
i play Nintendo cuz i dont give a fuck about third party support.
I guess I'm odd, but personally, buying games even on a semi-regular basis would bankrupt me. But I digress, I have owned my gamecube since launch, and since I don't give a shit about most third parties, or whether or not a game is "kiddie" my cube has served me very well. The only titles on the Xbox that even interest me are Kotor and Burnout 3, only because I don't know whether the cube's getting Burnout 3 or not. I've played Halo, and had fun, but I don't think it or it's sequel are (or will be) the greatest games ever. Really good first-person-shooters, yes, but that's as far as they go with me. And, even though, according to some chewers, there's no viable software for the cube, I own around 30 titles. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but around $1500 worth of software seems pretty viable to me. And this thing's been out what? Three years? Anyway, I haven't ranted in a while, so that felt good. Rant over.
Seacrest.........out!!

I've had Cube since launch and got an Xbox this summer, and have nothing but hatred towards PS2. I've always been a loyal Nintendo fan, and that's because their 1st party games are always absolutely fantastic. Metroid Prime alone is enough reason to own a Gamecube. I still play Super Smash Bros Melee about 3 times a week with my friends at college and it NEVER GETS OLD. I can't imagine not playing it until a new version of it comes out on a next generation system. I just got Paper Mario 2, but have yet to play it, and I'll definitely be buying Echoes when it comes out. So as long as there are Zelda, Metroid, Mario, and other 1st party games for Nintendo, I will always be extremely interested. The Cube gets a lot of undeserved hate 'round these parts.

I'm like Otis. I've owned probably about a dozen or more Cube games, and enjoyed them all more or less, but I've returned all but one of them.
Why the hell would you return games? You guys must get pretty good trade in value on your games. The EB near me gives 5 bucks for most trade ins. I used to trade in myself, but I got fucking sick of EB making a killing off the games I traded in for chicken scratch. I continue to play every game I have to some degree, and refuse to get ripped off by trading in games for less than half their worth. I just don't have the cash-flow to be able to justify that.
been making some decent coin re-selling on ebay/half.com the past year for games not worth keeping around. and yeah, trade in rates suck ass.

....eternal darkness.....I'll have to track that bugger down sometime.

If I get 5-20 dollars on a trade-in that was just sitting on my shelf collecting dust, I consider myself ahead in the long run. My local Gamestop also often runs bonus weeks where you get even more credit for every three games you trade in. One time I took in about a dozen or so old games, and I got $170 bucks in store credit. So, if I can trade in a dozen old games I'm finished with for three or four brand-spanking-new games, count me in.
Well, hell, I guess I'm just unlucky with the shitty EB here. If I got the value you got, I could probably stand to part with one or two of my games, but, they'd have to be collecting dust first, and none of my games are. I just happen to get in a mood every couple of weeks where I go back to a game I haven't played for a while. Hell, I just recently ran through Resident Evil 0 again, just for the hell of it. I got unlimited ammo for the hunting gun by playing leech hunter, and had a fuckin blast. The last two games I traded in were Lotr:The Two Towers (which was pretty much made obsolete by Rotk) and MKDA (since my roommate also had it and I didn't pay a dime for it). I still got fuck all for trade-in value on them, but as I said, my EB just happens to suck donkey cock. And don't get me started on the morons working there.

There's a reason EB got bought out over here. And it's a good one. Compared to 'Game' (the shop that bought out EB in the UK) they are utter wank.

Ikaruga is reason enough to own a gamecube.
