Ok, so I have this problem, see. My roommates and I have a wireless network running in our apartment. The router is in the living room with my roommates desktop PC, and I connect to it in my room via my notebook PC. We were having problems getting connected to the router because it wasn't secured and anyone within range could connect to it. This was causing our computers to get kicked off of the network. So, I suggested that we set upour network so it would be secure and only the two computers in the apartment could get on it. One of my roommates (who I now know has no idea what he's doing with this type thing) tried to set it up enabling WEP security. Well, what he ended up doing was creating a separate network on the router, (so it's now trying to run two networks which is killing our ability to get a decent signal) and encrypting it. We finally figured out how to access the encrypted network, but when we did, we had no internet access on the desktop in the living room. We had a solid wireless signal coming from the router, but we couldn't go anywhere on the internet. If I sit in the living room with my notebook I can get an internet connection, but not in my room, which used to be no problem. So what we need to do (at least what we think we need to do) is to figure out how to disable one of the networks so that we have only one running on the router. Then we can just enable the WEP security on the one network, set a password and then we'll be the only ones who can get on it. I'm open to any suggestions, and if you know a good deal about wireless networks and how to set them up, I would appreciate it very much if you could help me out. Send me and email, PM or just reply to this thread. Thanks!
