Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas - Post Release Spoiler Thread

So today is the day, hopefully I'll find this game before it's over.

This page has updated with videos of playing arcade games, dancing, horse race betting, spray painting as well as playing pool, playing basketball, parachuting, 2 player mode and probably something else I'm forgetting.

http://www.gta2playerleak.tk/

And has anyone been able to confirm (seen pics, video, anything) that jetpacks are in the game? I can't wait to have a fat black guy with a pink mowhawk flying around in a jetpack while cursing like a sailer!
Great opening sequence, but the first mandatory, can't save until later mission is annoying me. BMX vrs a lincoln full of guns?
This game is THE SHIT!!!! I just pulled a drive-by while blasting Danzig then Faith No More.
I just beat the living hell out of den of crack addicts.

Awesome.

Love the intro with Chris Penn and Samuel L Jackson. Very "Training Day".
I've only barely scratched the surface and I played it for like 3 and 1/2 hours.

Holy shit....it's a leap over Vice City. A gigantic leap.
Anyone tried cheat codes yet? The weapon codes from Vice City seem to be the same, as well as the armor code, only it gives you money as well.
Can you post the codes, I've seemed to forgot them.

I'm on "Sweet's Girl" right now.

I was expecting the fold out map to be big, but damn...that thing is BIG. That opening mission where you have to race your bike around the city was great. Just riding the bike around is a lot more fun than i anticipated. All those details like skidding, shifting your weight, and the way CJ's character model animates when pedalling fast, everything just looks so goddamn smooth and realistic.

Words cannot express how fucking awesome it is to have an entire new GTA world to explore!! Between this, Halo 2 and Metroid Prime 2, this next month is going to be the best gaming month of my life! At least until next November when Elderscrolls 4, Wanda and Collosus and the Next Zelda come out.
What about all of the hidden arcade games?

There are ton of them in the convience store and in the Alahambra Club.
has anyone tried to get to the other two cities...cause much like the other games the bridges leading there are blocked for now...so I stole a plane and tried to fly over and BOOM 4 star wanted level and I'm getting rockets up my ass. I was in San Fiero for all of 4 seconds before being blown to dust.

The topography is awesome and makes for some really cool "insane stunt bonuses"

I don't know but I'm dying to find out just how similar the one game is to Tempest... of all the eighties arcade games they would imitate... one of my favorites!
I'm a fan of the "Let's Get Ready to Bumble" arcade game.

Other than that, I'm trying to find my way back to the hood. I've gotten lost in the woods. I hopped on a tractor and rode it into the local police station. Needless to say, they pulled a "Murphy" on my ass and blew me apart.
That sucks, guys.

Frankly, I'm a little overwhelmed by the game. So far, I've gotten lost twice. The map is so huge.
Also...found the double headed dildo in the rural police station, that was fucking freaky.
I've probably put about 5 or 6 hours in and feel like I've accomplished nothing. Maybe 10 missions and a decent amount of screwing around, but I'm still getting a feel for the neighborhood.

This game is so much better than Vice City. I popped Vice in to play over the weekend, and the city just felt so small, flat and boring.
I just got The Call from KB. I'll be joining you lucky ducks shortly.
Just found my first movie reference in the game.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day

You get to reenact the semi truck vs motorcycle chase.
Has anyone beat the dancing and the lowrider competition?

I suck at them both, and I would appreciate some tips.
Sounds like there's a ton of stuff to do in this one. Mine's been picked up. I'll probably get my hands on it tonight but won't be able to check itout till tomorrow night, as my PS2 is residing elsewhere right now. Oh woe is me. It's all good though. I've got other stuff to keep me busy in the meantime.
I've now beat all of the
Ryder and Big Smoke missions. Game is 8% complete.

I'm starting to think that Big Smoke is working with the cops.
You're a mark-ass bitch if you don't like this game. SO far it's a major improvement over vice city. The much improved third person controls alone make it a huge improvement. My muscle meter is almost full. Respect.
I'm low on cash. I pulled over, and stomped 3 random people.

Only the white boy had any money on him.

I can't possibly see how this game could be any better.
Wait, what's this I see in the manuel? the ability to place markers that show up on your mini map in game? To make getting somewhere easier so as not to get lost? Oh, glorious day!

There's so many impossibly steep hills that over lap each other in every direction that the only thing I can compare this new GTA landscape to is a huge rollercoaster. It makes getting around on the bicycle require some skill with the laws of gravity. You have to get a good head start racing downhill if you're going to make it uphill.
And I keep forgetting that I can basically climb over anything I see now. I'll assume I can't get over a fence and run around the block then shout fuck! Knowing I could have just climbed the goddamn thing!
I'm all of 2 hours in, but it's pure sweetness. The vehicles feel nice and smooth, everything is just tip top.

Is anyone else getting a Winona Ryder in Reality Bites vibe from the Radio X DJ?

But that's probably good for your exercise rating (or whatever they're calling it) right? See, it's not all bad.
Smoke may be one of my favourite characters in any GTA game.

The animations for the body language makes it seem as if the graphics are lightyears ahead of vice city. What a difference such a thing makes.

I've heard dancing is a rhythm game, like with the lowrider bouncing. Maybe you have to lock on/ interact with her or something? I'm not that far yet.

I'm on the mission where your shooting stuff while Smoke drives the motorcycle. I'm barely starting to get aquainted with the city. This game is epic.

Here's something I never saw in the cast list....from SlashDot:

"When you play the game this week make sure and tune in to WCTR News to catch Anchorman Richard Burns, TV's Wil Wheaton. "
You have to hit the right directional arrow to have a positive reply for the woman at the beach. Do it two or three times, and it'll take you into the dance off.

It's hard as hell.
Favorite moment so far: After blasting a bunch of Ballas, and drawing the attention of the police, I pistol-whip an old lady and steal her car. As I punch the gas, "Been Caught Stealing" by Jane's Addiction starts up as I lead the cops on a long chase. This game is incredible.

I've tried it 3 times. What the fuck. I got to 3800 out of the required 4000 once...grrrrrrr. I've always been garbage at rhythm games. I rented Space Channel 5 once, couldn't even get past the first level.
I've beaten everything so far but the Beach dance off and the lowrider competition. I can't advance because some programmer has a fucking boner for DDR.

This is shit.
You didn't even pass the first try with the lowrider? I did it, talked to my sister's boyfriend, and got the hell out of there.

I just got a 7440. I found it's best to concentrate on timing with the bassline, and not getting them in the exact center of the circle.
Well, more gushing I don't think is necessary.....all that could be said is summed up in three simple words: Believe the hype.

That said, in the spirit of Anderson's earlier post, Movie Reference the 2nd: The bit near the beginning with Ryder trying to stick up the Pizza Place, and the Pizza guy going "I know it's you Ryder....again?!" is straight out of White Men Can't Jump.

I'm two hours in.....I've slept with a prostitute, beaten a guy who rear ended me then had the nerve to tell me to get out of his way, cut a swath through 10 Ballas with a chainsaw, and have frantically driven through the city trying to rid myself of the owner of a house who saw fit to jump onto my car and beat it with a baseball bat after doing a drive by on her lawn.

I love this game.

Oh, no. I'm having one hell of a time with the dancing and the lowrider section. I've spent the time elsewhere working on the side missions and buying properties. I can't progress any further on the game until I beat these two missions.
I know I posted this on the other thread but seeing how after viewing this all with a CD case blocking incoming text to prevent spoilage [I too think Big Smoke is up to something] I must ask: Did they take out the Secret packages? If so are the graffiti spots supposed to be the SA version of them?

This game is so fucking overwhelming.
A fuckin great game experience so far. So I'm on this drive by, right? And it starts raining. And the DJ on KJam breaks in to tell me it's raining, and it's going to get worse, so drive careful.

A fucking weather alert. On an imaginary radio station. While I'm knockin down gangsters, and the homies in the car are bitchin about my driving and someone can't stop eating the drive-thru chicken we just picked up. Considering all the work it takes to put that kind content into the game, that's some top-shelf production value.

It's amazing how different this game feels from the first two. I hate to admit it, but I never really got into GTA3. It was fun for a few hours, cruising around and seeing how spectacularly I could crash or entering the Tank cheat and taking on the entire LCPD, the Feds, and the National Guard. The story did nothing for me, though. THIS is on another plane... You can play it sand-box style, see what happens if you run down the street shooting everyone that twitches or trying to get your '74 Plymouth to jump three 18-wheelers. For the first time in a GTA game, though, I'm really getting pulled into the plotline. It's actually a decent RPG built on top of the world's finest gangsta simulation.

I rented it from Blockbuster (last copy, ha!) Now I'm gonna have to buy it. Shit.

EDIT: Yeah, the graffiti is the new package mini-game. I like it... makes more sense in the game-world.
Picked it up on a whim while I was buying DOTD 04/Original Ultimate Edition from Best Buy.

Really fun game so far. I am on the train robbing mission, but I have done really well in the dance clubs and weight rooms. Looking forward to this HUGE game. This is Fable done right.
Put about 8 hours into it and still feel like I haven't done anything. I'm still reaching parts of the first level that I've never seen. I saw the airport once but haven't ventured back there. There's just so much to do. I was so excited when I first saw the Fortune car. It's almost exactly my old Ford Thunderbird. I fuck people up and I don't give a shit, "because I'm gangsta!"

Apart from the graffiti spray spots, there's supposed to be oysters? scattered around in the water and horse shoes on land. Also, I heard something about 50 some pictures that you have to take before you get 100 percent. I'm really curious what the reward is for 100 percent?

Try leaving the controller alone and watch what happens. The camera shifts around and focuses on random people walking by, as if CJ were paying attention to them, it's weird.
Holy shit. You can pimp. I ganked some vato's car, and what doth appear in yonder upper left hand corner? "Press R3 to start pimping." And I did. Amusingly enough, the john I picked up for the girl was at the airport.
This game is fucking awesome....Maurice is freaking hilarious...

Any advice would be appreciated. I've tried going back to the club and learning some moves. I've done the whole timing to the bass.

Nothing is working for me.
I've played like 10-11 hours. I'm a a few missions into what you might call the 2nd phase of the story. The rest of the game world is....insane. I found a parachute, can't figure out what the fuck to do with it.

I really wish you could zoom in on that map on the pause menu, or am I just retarded and can't figure it out. Figuring out if your on the right road to get to your destination out in the country is pretty confusing at times. Then you end up trying to take a shortcut to get back on track...and you tumble down a cliff and die, like a 10 minute drive away from a save point. I'll probably be able to cope, though.

You are the whitest person I know Anderson. ;-)
Don't worry, I'm having trouble too. I needs some flava in my steps I guess.

When you hit Start, just press X and it'll show the zoomed-in map with a legend that you can turn on or off. Along the bottom are the controls for the map-view which include zoom, pan and waypoint features.
