There's no thread for this?

It starts tonight on Bravo... let's get some commentary!
Um-- can I nominate that the twins scene from The Shining be included in that list?

God-- I hate those creepy little girls!
This should be entertaning. I love countdown shows.
I'm surprised Bravo put Audition in the top 13. This might actually be a good list.
Cool show. I love the fact they showed the eye piercing scene in Zombie and Eli Roth mentions the shark wrestling. Good stuff. Can't wait to see the top of the list. They've mentioned some great flicks already.
I liked the show, cool interviews with people like King, Carpenter, and Savini. Thing I didn't get was all the interviews with people from piece of shit shows like The OC. They are talking these people not related to the horror genre at all and all they say is like so and so scence is scary. They did have the Coors light twins though so that was cool.

Anyone know if this will be re-aired?
I think one of the scariest moments is in the movie Halloween when michael Myers sits up and Jaime Lee curtis thinks she already killed him. that freaked me out. what a great scene.
It was a pretty good show. I could have gone without the comedians, non-horror movie actors, etc., though. I don't need Debbie Mentanopuolis telling me about her favorite horror movies. Oh well, that's just nitpicking.

They do have a good list so far. I think The Birds should have faired better, though. The same goes for Dracula. The list is pretty vaired, which I like. Some might not like seeing The Wizard of Oz on the list, but who wasn't scared of that movie as a young child? Any mentioning of Pacific Heights is cool with me. I will definitely keep watching this.
Nice to see "Alice, Sweet Alice" and "Black Christmas" get some love.
I just stumbled on this show by accident last night. Glad I did.

A little weird that after the countdown show on Firday, they hyped how they would follow it up with Exorcist 2. Nice choice.

So is the countdown 4 or 5 episodes? The Bravo TV website lists episodes "Scariest Moments in Film:
The 100 Scariest Movie Moments" 101 thru 105.
Did they just give away the ending to THE F*CKING VANISHING? I've been wanting to see this movie for years. Thanks Bravo.

Yeah that was pretty fucking stupid. Still looks like a good movie though.
Heh, not sure I haven't seen it either. Nice to see more of Fulci and some Argento make the early cut.

Nothing wrong with seeing Mindy Clarke, IMO.
What's the deal with Clive Barker's voice? I saw him on Real Time with Bill Maher like over a year ago and then it sounded strange, weak and scratchy and totally different than what it once was, but I just put it off as him having a cold or something like that. But last night I noticed it was unchanged and it looked like he had a tracheotomy scar on his throat. Was he involved in an accident or illness?
Saw this the other night and thought it was fantastic. As was said I found a few of the commentators to be pretty annoying (coors light twins what?) but the clips were awesome. Anyone else blown away that they showed the face blowing off scene from Beyond in it?

Oh yea, can someone ID the movie clip I saw? Heres a description

We see some kid in like a sewer area and the movies in black and white. Some shadow passes in front of the camera and then it pans out to see the kid looking around yelling for someone. The camera sllooowwwllly pans over to a wall and we see this creepy as hell Pazuzu looking kid pressed up against a wall. Out of all the clips, it's the only one that really gave me the chills.

Guillermo del toro was talking about it when I tuned in.

That would be The Devil's Backbone. It's a Spanish ghost story directed by Guillermo del toro. I haven' t seen it, but it is suppoused to be fantastic.
That's Del Torro's movie The Devils Backbone. A special edition DVD of it was recently released. It's one of the few supposedly excellent horror films that I have yet to see. I was waiting til I got completely bummed about this year's lack of good horror movies to pick it up and after seeing The Grudge and hearing about Saw, I'm ready to pick it up.

If this were released on DVD would you buy it and how much do you think it's worth. I'd pay 10 bucks for it. I hope they do release it on DVD so I can watch it again and write down some of the other movies that I've missed. They all seem to be of very high caliber so far. I'm very surprised at how good it actually is.

Am I the only one that thinks the Coors twins are kinda ugly?

The 100 Scariest Moments in Movie History

I've been looking forward to this show all week and so far I'm pleased with most of the list.
1. I am in love with Mario Bava, that clip of Black Sunday was phenomenal- I must have that DVD now!

2. Cronenberg is the shit! The Brood looks terrifying and just great.

3. I think I'm becoming a Euro-horror fan, between Fulci's Zombi and Demons, how can you not love it!

4. Romero will always be my favorite horror director, when he appeared on screen I applauded but damn if
John Carpenter runs a close second. The Thing is a masterpiece, watched it twice this week and it's
awesome.

5. I agreed with those who've said, "Who the Hell are all these people anyway?" There was one actress being interviewed and under her name it said "Gilmore Girls" They mixed these people in with horror greats like King, Romero etc. I know there are more horror heads out there that they could have interviewed. I am not a horror movie elitist by any means but seeing these little cutsy WB actors ruined the vibe for me.

6. "The Sentinel" is the creepiest thing I've seen so far on the list, that apartment scene was a "Holy Shit" moment for me.

7. I wonder if there will be more Asian horror on the list since it's so popular right now, I personally hope
Battle Royale 1 makes the cut- it is truly horrifying and disturbing movie with a message: Violence solves nothing; or something like that. I know Audition is own the list because they showed a picture of Asami holding a needle.

8. I can't wait to see what is #1, please don't let it be the Exorcist- for Christ sake it's not that scary.
I would like for Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) to be #1. That movie was clearly made to scare the shit out of everybody- and they succeded.

Fuckin A- Both of these men are horror legends. I am feverish in anticipation of Romero's forthcoming Land of the Dead. Where on the countdown did Night of the Living Dead appear? My guess is that they either referred to the "They're coming to get you Barbara" scene or the little girl eats her mother scene.

Sounds like they've had some decent scenes on the list. Maybe I should have watched it more. I turned it on once briefly and it was Deliverance (which, don't get me wrong, I love the move, but it never comes to my mind when I think horror movie) and the Coors Twins were talking. It was at that point that I gave it a pass and moved on.

They're okay in a really fake sorta way but there are two of them. They may be the stupiest and most annoying people on the planet though.
At least we now know John Carpenter is still alive.
The Devil's Backbone is awesome. I think it may be Del Toro's best movie, so make sure you all see it.

Yeah, I agree. By the way, its not actually in black and white, Del Toro just used a very dark, washed out color scheme. And yes, those Coors twins are both disturbing and stupid. The woman from Hellraiser is thier polar opposite, though, so it all works out.
I've really enjoyed watching this. Laughed at the clip they showed in Re-Animator. Really good and would be perfect if they didn't have the coors girls and a few other douchebags (Cabin Fever people).

The show has sold me on Fulci i'd like to see his work.
Who's that woman that looks like Natalie Portman's insane older sister that lives in the attic? I must admit she's kind of hot in a deranged Salem Witch trial sort of way.
Fulci is awesome. Start with Zombi.

I agree (although Cronos and Hellboy hold special places in my heart- and Blade II in my manballs) and was both surprised and satisfied to see it on the list.

Also...
It was fucked up that they revealed the ending to the Vanishing, which is one of the absolute best horror/suspense films I've ever seen.
God, both Steven King movie bits made me so uncomfortable. The hobbling in Misery and the tendon slicing in Pet Semetary both made me turn my head and just cringe.

Audition didn't look as bad as people made it out to be, though I imagine the build up is a major factor in it's creepiness.
I approve of Jaws as number 1. It's an extremely visceral experience which gets a reaction across the board unlike movies such as Exorcist where your own beliefs play into the fear a bit.
I would have had Halloween in the top 5 but all in all this was a damn good show.
Wizard of OZ and Willy Wonka are on there....

why?

I agree about the Exorcist, it's not so scary to me because real exorcisms (and this goes totally on you believing in them as well) don't look like a little doll spitting out pea soup. I really was suprised to see
Audition so far up on the list at #11; it is a movie that makes you squirm in the last 15 minutes. I can see why Jaws is #1, the movie seemed real and like Rob Reiner said, "It's not as if sharks dont eat people.
Overall the show was fun to watch and their are movies on the list that I've never even heard of like The Sentinel- that movie looks amazing.

Hey, there are some scary moments in both of those.
It's interesting reading the transcription of the Stephen King interview they did for the special in this months Fangoria. At least the first half anyway, it's "to be continued" the bastards. Anyway it was at Stephen's suggestion that they included Cujo. That's one movie I never felt was scary at all. Then again I haven't read the book either but crazed St. Bernards isn't my idea of horror, sorry Stephen.

There's a LOT they didn't show.

Anybody thought there were movies or moments that were missed on the list? I was very much expecting CARNIVAL OF SOULS.
They had CHITTY CHITTY, BANG BANG right?
The only glaring omission for me was Carpenter's The Fog. How that got missed and routine crap like The Game and Single White Female got in is beyond me, but overall, the list was pretty good.
Ive said this elsewhere, but I can't see why The Entity didnt make the list. Its one of the scariest movies I've seen. Hell, the soundtrack alone is scarier than The Game or Jurassic Park.
Yeah The Fog deserved mention over Single White Female and Cujo. There were some weak entries but some really good ones there nonetheless.

Exclusive interviews include:

- Stephen King
- Wes Craven
- Peter Jackson
- John Carpenter
- John Landis
- Courtney Cox
This reminds me of one of those "one of these don't belong" games.
I especially loved hearing Jackson and Landis.
It was a pretty decent list overall. As others on this thread have been saying, there were a few films that should have made the list and a few that shouldn't have, but all lists are subjective. The only list that will ever be perfect in one's eyes is his or her own list.

I never found Cujo very scary myself, so there is no way I would put it up there. Single White Female and The Game are also nothing truly special but whatever. It was too bad that Wes Craven's New Nightmare didn't make it because it is a personal favorite of mine. I also like Frailty, The Cell, Evil Dead II, Army Of Darkness, Hellbound: Hlellraiser II, The Phantom Of The Opera (Robert Englund version), and Dark City. Those are all films that I think should have made the list. Like I said before, though, no list is perfect. Besides, it was a fun thing to watch with friends for Halloween. We had some interesting discussions about the films. I hope they keep playing it, so I can tape it and always have it for future Halloweens!
Frailty, Evil Dead II, Hellbound: Hlellraiser II would have most certainly made my list. The Thing was like what 57 or somethin? Del Toro rightly said it was in the top ten.
I just watched the marathon of all five episodes, back to back. I am now offically thoroughly creeped out.
I thought The Ring was way too fucking high. It was vaguely creepy at best and they had it over Dawn of the Dead. Plus there was some annoying woman who kept sreaming "OH MY GOD THAT"S SO SCARY." She was like a fucking two year old. Halloween should have been higher too. I missed the last hour so I'll have to catch it when it re-airs friday.
