What's your favorite Brad Pitt film moment so far and why ?

Out of all of Brad Pitt's current film output as of 2004, what are your personal favorite Brad Pitt film moments, or film scenes from any of his films (that a character he played, was in) and please state why each nominated scene, is a great favorite.
I like him in True Romance smoking from that Honey Bear bong, which still cracks me up. Even when the guys come looking for Clarence it does not phase him at all hell he even offers them some and gives them directions. Plus I guess I like it for the fact that it is Brad Pitt in a role with like 2 min. of screen time.

I’m sure that others will mention 12 Monkeys and Fight Club so I’ll just stay with True Romance.
true romance was an incredible part for him, its a classic. i think the definitive awesome role for him was tyler durden though, and then i really love one punch mickey. so fight club, snatch and true romance.
When he speaks to the camera in Fight Club and the intensity causes the film to jump from the tracks.
"You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis."

Also, the ending of Seven. It's really hard to choose a favorite between those two.
How about all of the above?

I'd have to go with Mickey from Snatch.

The little bit in SE7EN when he and Somerset joke about shaving off a nipple.

Earley Grace in Kalifornia:

"Adele, what kind of cuckoo-brain carries a cactus in her purse? Huh?"
Mills (Pitt) falling asleep on Somerset's (Freeman) arm and waking up to realize what was going on. His reaction is priceless.

The mexican: after he shoots Gandolfini and raises his hands in victory "I Rule. I rule." Also this isn't really a single moment but rather an acting thing that he does: the stuttering hands. He uses his hands a lot and kinda points them outwards with the accented words in lines. For some reason It Rules.

Ocean's 11:

"And for God's sake, whatever you do, don't EVER, under any circumstances..."

Brilliant.
I like that scene in Meet Joe Black when he gets freakin destroyed by that car. That's a good one.
Have to say that Twelve Monkeys and Fight Club are my faves - not only were his roles and acting superb but the films themselves were great - the worst is probably his cameo on Friends
post #15 of 55
I generally like Brad Pitt, even when he's in crappy movies. But my two favorite moments of his both come from SEVEN, one light, one dark:

"Just 'cause the fucker's got a library card doesn't make him Yoda."

and

"What's in the box?!!!"

The latter is a fairly brave performance, as Pitt teeters dangerously on the edge of intense, heartbreaking grief and over-the-top scene chewing. I especially love the pathetic beats when he caves in with tears during his final rage against John Doe.
My favoirte moment would be either

His accident in Meet Joe Black was the first use of CG to sure that type of hit and it was phenomanel.

or

The moment when Bruce eats the spider in 12monkeys the look on his face is priceless..

Whats in the box? Whats in the BOX! is good too
post #17 of 55
Well, most of you have described a lot of my favorite Pitt scenes already. However, I bet I'm the only person who will say that one of Pitt's greatests moments, and I think his debut film moment, is him as J.D. seducing Thelma in Thelma and Louise.

Well, I've always believed that if done properly, armed robbery doesn't have to be an unpleasant experience.
SEVEN is full of 'em

"When a person is insane, as you clearly are, do you know that you're insane? Maybe you're just sitting around, reading Guns & Ammo, masturbating in your own feces...do you just stop and go, 'WOW! It is amazing how fucking crazy I really am'."

AND

"Oh come on, he's insane. Look, right now he's probably dancing around in his...in his...in his grandma's panties. Yeah, rubbing himself in peanut butter."

I'm also a big fan of the way he handed Ed Norton his card when they first meet on the plane in Fight Club, and pretty much of all of the chemical burn scene...
I think Brad Pitt doesn't get enough recognition for his comic acting. Examples:

The Mexican: "El Camino!"

Fight Club: The scene where he's riding a bike around the house, and eventually crashes it and flies off the bike.
I would have to go with his fight in Snatch. "You're pretty quick for a fat fucker."

"I like that scene in Meet Joe Black when he gets freakin destroyed by that car. That's a good one."

Then again, this was pretty great too because I don't have nearly as much adoration for Pitt as most here do, so seeing him crunched by a car was pretty fucking great.

"What the f*ck do I want with a caravan that ain't got no f*ckin wheels!?"
"Wackos everywhere, plague of madness:"
Kalifornia- "There's this door, this big ol' door...."

Fight Club- "That's three times you promised".

12 Monkeys- "Get outta my chair"!
"Dont condensend to me, man, I'll fuckin' kill you."

And the "WHOA! WHOA! WOULD YOU MIND NOT SHOOTING AT A VAN FULL OF NITROGLYCERIN!" Werbal mentioned.
I also adore "Heee's aaaaaaa nutbag" from SEVEN.

Glad to see The Mexican getting some love in this thread.

Yup, I agree with this. I didn't see 12 Monkeys for Brad Pitt, but the performance he gave definitely sold me on him. I've been a fan since. Fight Club and Snatch are awesome too.
Man was I right about people mentioning Fight Club and 12 Monkeys, however I can't believe that I forgot about Snatch. How can I forget

"and if I win I get a caravan, and the boys get a pair of them shoes"

In the film, the sound effect to this is a cartoon "boing" from the TV. Love that.

Also from Snatch:
"I reckon the hare gets fucked."
"What do you mean? Proper fucked?" *laughs*
It's only funny because Tommy said it earlier, but it's a cool moment.
Fight Club - too many to name them all...

"Flash back humor, cute."
"I give Jack cancer. I kill Jack"
"And this SHIT that came out of her mouth I never heard anyone say"
"FUCK Marth Stewart. Martha Stewart is shinning the brass on the titanic."
"Well you DID loose alot of conviences for modern living"
"is it a problem for you to ask?"

True Romance
Anytime Floyd is on camera.

Snatch - When they first introduce his character (not in that snazzy opening credits sequence but at the Pikey Camp), he's taking a fucking dump... at least, that's what it looks like he's doing.. and it's hilarious.
I'm going to break the "Fight Club", Se7en", "Snatch", "12 Monkeys" trend, all of them films I own and love.

But I also love his work in "Spy Game", especially his rooftop talk with Redford about the CIA and their job. Redford gets the best dialogue, but Pitt's righteous indignation turning to frustration and guilt makes for a pretty powerful scene. He's proven to be an almost better character actor than leading man, surprisingly, but with this and "Ocean's 11" he proved he can do the matinee idol thing damn well too.

Kalifornia: "I know that, ya idgit, that's a po-lice in a world of hurt, and this here's a mercy killin.'"
That scene is like the turning point in the film where everyone realizes that Early is a monster and they're all now his hostages, but it's an amusing point of transition. The film is, in turns, funny and creepy, attractive and repulsive, idiotic and clever, and in that scene, I think it's sort of all of those at once. Early is being violent and cruel, but there's a horrible, inane kind of wit he has, too, that I can't help but to laugh at.
I used to have his 'doors' monologue memorized, too. He says that stuff as he's walking along with Brian, and at the end, right after he says "wudn't there", he stops walking for a split second and does this bizarre laugh thing that I can't describe at all. But I love that bit. I grew up in rural Tennessee, so my friends and I thought Early and Adele were hysterical, and we always quoted the hell out of that movie.

I like Brad Pitt in Twelve Monkeys, but if you compare his performance with Dennis Hopper's in Apocalypse Now you can only conclude that Pitt copied his entire act, facial tics, wild hand gestures and all.

As Johnny Suede, in the courtyard with Nick Cave. O.K., not really, but they've all pretty much been covered here.

Yeah, actually, I was gonna say something a bit different in relation to this...

Tom DeLillo went on after JOHNNY SUEDE to direct LIVING IN OBLIVION, where James LeGros does the most transparent, hilarious Brad Pitt impersonation. There's a scene where he's arguing with the DP and the arguement gets violent, and it's apparent that LeGros is just using the DP as motivation to get into the scene, and he says something like, "Let's shoot the scene!" and turns around and the DP says something like, "I'm gonna kill you," and LeGros, back turned, kicks out his leg and yells out a celebratory, deep-voiced, totally Pitt, "Allright!"

Diva ain't alone. Thelma and Louise is his greatest moment, his ass never looked better.
Ditto to those that have mentioned Snatch. 12 Monkeys and Fight Club were both awesome, but Brad Pitt's Pikey character is fantastic, and the final boxing match is one of the best edited fights I've seen in the movies in a while. Brad Pitt at the top of his game without dominating the movie.

I don't know if I'd say he downright copied it, but yeah it had to have been one of Pitt's main influences with that performance. Because of this, I'm not nearly as impressed with Pitt in 12 Monkeys as a lot of other people seem to be. He's still very good though.
I still think Pitt's better in Kalifornia, Snatch, and Seven. Hell, True Romance too.

As far as my favorite Pitt moment, I'd probably have to say the little scene where Tyler picks up Marla in Fight Club, when the paramedics arrive and they haul ass. Something about this scene, the music, Tyler's little dance, smacking people's doors, it cracks me up every time. And he doesn't say a word either.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that hallway scene. I have to agree, that is one of those moments when Pitt's real charm and talent shines through. Everything great about him shows up in that wordless little part.
Personal favorites are Rusty Ryan in Ocean's 11 and Mikey in Snatch. Especially the end meet-up between Pitt and Clooney on O-11.

"Nice tux, I hope you were the groom."
"Ted Nugent called, he wants his shirt back."

Both lines were improved according to the commentary on the DVD. As much I hated HATED Brad Pitt when he first come onto the scene with his boyishly good looks and rock hard abs, he has slowly won me over with nutty roles and his solid acting. This guy's the real deal.
The freeze frame in O12 when he realises Catherine Zeta-Jones has stolen his phone.

Oh, and the smile he gives Zeta-Jones as he runs past her, the cops in hot pursuit.

Oh, and the line delivery (justifying getting back into crime): "I tried hotels. I'm better at this."

I'm crushing a bit, aren't I?

"Oh, I'll never leave Montana, brother."

If you're forgetting A River Runs Through It, let me remind you. Pitt can do the crazy anti-hero shit that everyone loves, but he's also capable of a pretty convincing character study.

Not until Troy, that is.

I remember trying to convince my girl friends to see this movie with me and they kept saying, "That fishing movie?" Although the male bonding plot didn't really intrigue me, I could appreciate the performances by all. Good film.
