Various and sundry DVD bargains thread - Page 2

www.deepdiscountdvd.com has their 20% sale going on now, 'til the 25. No pre orders or video games, but everything else! Woo! DVDTALK is one code, and I know there are several others. Time to rape the wallet.
USWEEKLY and USATODAY are two more codes for the Deep Discount DVD Sale.
I've already got two shipments in the mail, I might go back for a third this weekend.

Some highlights:

Danger Diabolik: $7.49
The Sopranos 5th season: $48.44
Kinsey 2 Disc Edition: $20.88
WB Controversial Classics Boxset: $45.48
James Dean WB Box Set: $39.44
Martin Scorsese WB Box Set: $40.56

Most single disc Criterions are in the $16-17 dollar range, the double discs are anywhere from $22-25.
Deep Discount upped the prices on some discs during the last sale.

For example, The Lone Wolf and Cub DVD series went up anywhere from 80 cents to $1.98 per disc.
If you wait later into the week, the 24 hour wait before email validation might take a little longer.

Otherwise, have fun with it. Deep Discount DVD is a great site and this is their effort to get new people into the mix.

I can't find the Scorsese collection on the website. Do you have a link to it by any chance?
Here's the link for WB Scorsese Collection:
http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=WBD039951

It's actually going to be cheaper than previously stated. It's going to be in the 33-35 dollar range with the 20% off.

Amazon's Big DVD Sale

Amazon is having a big DVD sale. I haven't looked through everything yet, but there's surely some good deals in there somewhere.

SUPERSALE also works through 6/25. I just got that e-mail from their website. I bought Firefly ($23) and the new Road Warriors DVD ($10) in the first go-round.
i have meant to make an order on one of these sales for a while now and i finally pulled the trigger last night. i ordered The first 3 seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Season 1 of West WIng and The new edition of American Psycho for a total of 114 not too shabby considering a trip to bestbuy for all that would be about 60 bones more. i am a DVD WHORE

Freaking Best Buy (my usually Tuesday lunchbreak destination) has Hostage for $17.99. I thought for sure it would be a$15.99 disc. Anyone know where the best price on this DVD is at right now (BTW, I prefer brick and mortar versus online shopping).

That's still cheaper than DeepDiscountDVD.com ($18.13). It has a MSRP of $29.95, not the usual $24.95. CC also has it for $17.99. The DVDs that usually hit at $15.99 are generally $24.95 or $19.95 MSRP. Sometimes CC actually has a lower price, although you might not see it on the shelf.

Any Canadians going out to get Constantine: A&B Sound is selling the 2 disc set today for $19, today only.

Now all I gotta do is avoid buying Dead Like Me season 2.

I mentioned this in the DVD Purchase thread, but I thought I'd throw it in here too-->

Best Buy is having a $9.99 sale on Superbit DVDs. I don't know if it's all of them, but everyone I've checked the price on in the last few days has been $9.99. It runs through September 3rd, I believe. I'm a Superbit whore, so I thought I'd share this with everyone just in case there were more like me out there.
Also, if you buy the new Tommy Boy: Holy Schnike Edition from Best Buy, you get a Tommy Boy (Chris Farley) mini bobble head, which now adorns my desk.
I'll tell you which Superbit disc is NOT included in the sale (though if you MUST purchase it I'm sure you could haggle a manager if the signs say "ALL Superbits" like @ my store):

The Brown Bunny.

Yeah, that one's a Superbit.

Just thought I'd let you all know that I was wrong about the Sept. 3rd expiration date on the Superbit sale at Best Buy. Last I checked, they were still on sale, and I have no idea when it's supposed to end. Grab 'em while they're hot folks!
Yup, the Superbit sale on the Best Buy website is still going on. I have heard about communication problems in the stores that may create problems if you try to buy in-store.

My understanding is that this sale will be going on untill the end of the year, but my recommendation would be to grab em while their hot.

I just got three Superbit titles (Desperado, Crouching Tiger and Blackhawk Down) yesterday for 36 bucks shipped. Nice!

DeepDiscountDVD is running a special on Anchor Bay horror DVDs and sets through October 21. The ad says up to 52% off.

They have these kooky DVD six-packs for $16. One contains devil/possession movies including Hell Night (because "hell" is in the name, get it?), Fear No Evil, Antichrist, To the Devil A Daughter and two others.

Yes, yes, but that is what this thread was designed for. I did miss it in your article somehow though.

It's a great deal, nonetheless.

I just picked up Gilmore Girls second season and Nip/Tuck first season (both Christmas gifts) for 18.88 each at my local Target. I saw the ad and all it showed was the WB dramas, like Smallville and One Tree Hill but at the actual store, they have a display of others I cannot remember right now.

# One Tree Hill Season 1
# Gilmore Girls Season 1,2
# Smallville Season 1,2
# Lois & Clark Season 1
# Friends Season 1,2,3
# ER Season 1,2
# Nip/Tuck Season 1

The Target deal is great but don't forget the rebates WB is doing for these and other TV box sets.
It'll make the Target deal even sweeter.

Buy two seasons get $10
Buy three seasons get $20
Buy four seasons get $30
Buy five seasons get $40
Buy six seasons get $50

Here's the form for the rebate. The full list of shows eligible for the rebate is on the form.

Also, I've read a few places that Circuit City will price match the deal at Target...and they have the PM 10% deal as well.
I had no idea about this and just stumbled on it at Target and got the first two seasons of The West Wing. Had no idea about the rebate, so that's even better.
wait are u telling me West Wing season 2 is 18.88? cause i just watched season 1 and it kinda rocked my sox off. I know i am late to the party on the west wing thing but that is beside the point? i just want season 2 horribly and i def didnt see it when i went to get Nip/tuck. is this TRUE?
I saw Season 1 and 2 of West Wing, picked 'em both up. Didn't see any other seasons.
I saw an ad at my local Hastings today that said if you buy "Batman Begins" there on Oct. 18, you get a coupon for 3 free rentals. The coupon has a value up to $17, so that would be like buying the DVD for $5.

You must buy it on Oct. 18 to get the deal though.
Future Shop in Canada has a promo that offers 2 SUPERBIT dvd's for $25 CDN. You can choose from any of 36 titles available in store or online. Here's the link:

So all those season sets that were $18.88 at Target? Starting today, Best Buy has 'em for $15.99. No excuses, people!
Yeah, I got both west wing seasons at wal-mart for 20 bucks a pop.

Anyone know how long that Best Buy sale's going to be for?
Probably for a week, or until they run out.
Amazon.com is also having a TV sale. i just got my much desired copy of West Wing S2 for 19.97 most of the other stuff is crap but if u want West Wing or ER check it out
post #81 of 859
Amazon has all currently released Law and Order box sets for $20. I hear SVU is pretty solid so I'll be picking up seasons 1 and 2 of that.

Free 30 day trial for Blockbuster online

Papajohns is running a deal right now where you can get a Free 30 day membership for Blockbuster online, when you purchase a pizza through Papajohns.com

http://www.papajohns.com/blockbuster/index.htm

I don't use Blockbuster online anymore but the last time I had a Free trial period with them, they extended it twice when I went to cancel it.
Free is free.

DeepDiscountDVD.com has their 20% off coupon sale going again. USATODAY is one of the codes you can use. I'm sure there are others as well.

EDIT: SUPERSALE is another usable code.
The current issue of People magazine (Sexiest Man Alive) has an insert with coupons for $3 off The War of the Worlds, The Island, and Madagascar DVDs.

Last day for this, folks. I placed two orders during the week, valued at around $160. I'm a sucker for a sale.
Trying to knock out some Christmas shopping and I see that Amazon is having a huge sale on FOX Television sets. They've got a lot to choose from and they're about 40-50% off the list price.
Target is advertising the 2-disc War of the Worlds, the tin case King Kong, and the Kong/Son of Kong/Mighty Joe Young set for $25.99 each, almost $14 off retail. Not sure if it's online only, but I'm dropping by the Super Target near work tonight to take a look.
My local Target had NEITHER the War of the Worlds 2-disc nor the tin-case Kong set.

I think God hates me.
Werbal, was it a regular Target or the superstore? My Super Target tends to have a much deeper selection on DVD titles.
It was indeed a super.
Well damn, now I fear for my trip....
Everyone needs to be aware that the King Kong limited edition tin at Best Buy INCLUDES the Son of Kong and Mighty Joe Young DVDs for $33.99, only $8 more than the cost of the tin alone at other stores. This is a Best Buy exclusive, and it's a damn good deal.
Thwarted. Only the single-disc WOTW, and no King Kong at all.

Save yourself $6 while you're at it. I took the Circuit City ad with me, and Best Buy honored the $27.99 price they had for the Collector's Tin.

Doesn't work for me. Our Circuit City bit the dust two years ago, so Best Buy won't honor their ad prices anymore.
Plus, that deal won't work for anyone (except yourself and your inept Best Buy) since The Collector's Edition Tin with Mighty Joe Young and Son of Kong is a Best Buy EXCLUSIVE.

Still, $33.99 (until Sunday!) is one of the best prices around for a four-piece slice of greatness. The Kong disc is slowly shaping up to be THE best Special Edition of the year, along with everything else Warner's is putting out.

What luck. Best Buy's ineptness benefitted me for once.

Saw that earlier and bought Rescue Me: Season 1 and NewsRadio: Seasons 1&2 for £20. Nice.

A great deal for UK people: If you have a SilverScreen store nearby, The Wicker Man: Special Edition is on sale there for just £2.99.
That newish Ghostbusters 1+2 combo pack is a mere $7.99 at Best Buy this week. There were several cool titles at that price, like the Monty Python/Holy Grail SE. Some good stuff for $10, too, like Shaun of the Dead.
