Clockwork Orange (Two disc Blu Ray Hardcover) - $19.99

And at Target:

American Psycho (Blu Ray) - $5.00

12 Monkeys (Blu Ray) - $7.99

Amazon.com has the bare-bones Criterion Essential Art House sets 1, 3 and 4 for $29.99 each (down from $99).

Not sure why the deal excludes set 2. Maybe one of the included films is out of print?

WB Store is having a big TV on DVD sale.  Stuff like seasons of Tales from the Crypt for $7.99 each, the complete series of Flash for $10, Birds of Prey $9, Robot Chicken seasons for $10, etc. They're not Bluray, but they're cheap.

Target's clearance rack can usually be pretty random but I picked up the Treme season one bluray for $20.

Barnes and Noble's 50% off sale is back again, just when I thought my wallet was safe.

And I was just sitting here thinking I've never seen Diabolique.

Awesome. Anyone know when the sale is up?

The Superman Anthology blu-ray is $55.99 at Amazon.

Saw Spider-Man The High Definition Trilogy for $25 at Walmart yesterday.

Most of the Black Friday prices have surfaced.  The notable ones that I'll try to snag:

PULP FICTION, Blu for $4 at Target

FAST FIVE, Blu/DVD/DC for $10 at Walmart

X-MEN FIRST CLASS, Blu/DC for $10 at Walmart (GREEN LANTERN at the same price, but eff that one)

Yeah, that FIREFLY deal is nice.  I've had the DVDs since they first existed, and I don't watch them often, but I do love the show.  Anyone want to convince me that the BDs are life-changing?

No but just get them anyway.

Community Season 1 is $12.49 and Season 2 $13.99 on Amazon.com. Also, every season of Buffy and Angel $12.49 each.

EDIT:

Every season of The X-Files is under $14 each.

And all seasons of Supernatural are $12.99 each on DVD.

Amazon has the Alien Anthonlogy on Blu-ray for $40.99 today.

^ You can get that Alien collection for only £13 here in Britain, that's only $20. New and on blu-ray.

And how much shipping to get it here?

When I order from America Amazon to get it here to Britain it's usually about $6 for delivery. Should be about the same the other way round?

Finally got my last couple of seasons of CRYPT in the mail yesterday. Sloooow shipping, WB.

Best Buy is giving ten dollar gift cards for spending over $50 on dvds/blu-rays.  If you're going to pick up a bunch of stuff you could probably game the system a bit for multiple cards.

Amazon is selling the 5 disc Blade Runner Bluray for $23.49.  If you have a bluray player and you don't have this set , you really need to get on it.

Picked up the Lord of the Rings extended editions on Blu for $49 at Best Buy. Found that to be a hell of a deal.

If you missed out on Amazon's Blade Runner Blu deal and you have a Fry's in your area, they have an even better deal on the set for $19.99.

And for Costco members, Jackie Brown and Pulp Fiction are both available for $6.99 each.

Shit. It's in-store only. Damn living on the East Coast! *shakes fist*

Best Buy has their HBO sets half off.  The Wire set is $81.99, and thanks to some gift cards I got yesterday, I got it for twelve bucks.

Yeah, I got a couple of Best Buy gift cards too.

I picked up the Eastbound and Down Season 2 set for $17.49. I also found that they were selling the Rise of the Planet of the Apes Blu/DVD/DC set for $14.99 and the BB exclusive hardcover Citizen Kane Blu for 10 freakin' dollars! That's right, 10 BUCKS!

Also, at Big Lots, they are selling both of the Reaper season sets for $10 a pop.

They've had that Kane disc at 10 bucks for a while, I got it around my birthday for that price.

Really?!  I left the store thinking that I had practically stolen the thing.

Perhaps Best Buy is trying to off film nerds and are selling bird-flu tainted copies of Kane.

Whoa, thanks for the heads-up on KANE.  I have $63 in credit to burn over there!

My one post-Christmas purchase today was that new Tom Cruise 5-movie Blu collection for $18 at Fry's.  Pretty sweet deal for TOP GUN, DAYS OF THUNDER, MINORITY REPORT, COLLATERAL, and WAR OF THE WORLDS.  The M:I Blu set was the same price, but I'll stick with my existing DVDs on those films.

Just bought a new-ish copy of Oliver Stone's 2004 cult classic ALEXANDER: THEATRICAL CUT for $3.11 on AMAZON. While the so called FINAL CUT has alot if great content, unfortunately it's marred by editing and music cue issues, and for someone new to the film, I'd say the TC would be the best way to experience the movie's genius for the first time

I already own the theatrical cut, but it's wedged tight into a crawl space deep in a box right now, and so ordering a new one was just easier - plus this gave me a chance to test out my mom's AMAZON PRIME account. With two day shipping, I hope to have it soon

Anyway, it's one of my favorites, and if you love Oliver Stone but never saw ALEXANDER because of BWOM (bad word of mouth), I'd say now is the time to give this brilliant film another chance

BTW: though the original article is now lost to history, don't forget that CHUD's own Devin Faraci gave ALEXANDER a *glowing* review, cited Farrell as Oscar worthy, and declared the movie to be the first "bat shit Oliver Stone film we've had in years"

Let's crank this thing up again.

Amazon is selling the Looney Tunes Platinum Collection: Volume One (Ultimate Collector's Edition) for $34.99.

Anyone know if they plan to release more volumes? I've put off buying the Gold collections mostly due to money. But this higher quality Blu has me tempted. I kinda just want a complete set, but studios just don't release that way up front.

The collection is listed as "Volume One", so I'm assuming that there's more on the way. However, this one has nearly all of the classics, and watching on Blu is phenomenal. Well worth it.

I'm glad to hear that, Mangy.  From all of the reviews that I have read about it, the set is supposed to look fantastic.  Some of the Looney dvds were pretty spotty so i'm glad the got their act together.

Now, has anybody seen the Tom & Jerry blus?

Check your local Walmart for Universal 100th anniversary displays; they're selling around 20 blu/dvd/dc combo packs for $11,99 each, including Inglorious Basterds, The Blues Brothers, Waterworld, The Breakfast Club, The Deer Hunter and a bunch of other titles.

Deepdiscount has a promo code that takes $5 off a purchase that is at least $5. The code is ENJOY5 and is good through 3/30.

Amazon has a selection of Blu-ray Books (Blu-ray discs and a small hardcover book) for $9.99. Titles are:

  • All About Eve
  • The Terminator
  • The Usual Suspects
  • Rocky
  • Tora! Tora! Tora!
  • The Hustler
  • An Affair to Remember
  • Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
  • Patton 40th Anniversary Edition
  • The Comancheros 50th Anniversary Edition

They normally go for $35, so this seems like a pretty good deal.

Best Buy is restarting their DVD Trade-In/Bluray upgrade coupon thingy tomorrow.  Best Buy sucks but that promotion can lead to some pretty good deals.

How much do they knock off? Or are you saying they just give you money for your old stuff? Amazon does the same thing.

They give you a $5 coupon that is good to use on any Bluray priced $9.99 or higher; it even knocks 5 off the sale price.

Amazon UK has the Alien Anthology for L17.49, which comes out to about $29.60 once you throw in shipping.  It's cheaper than good ol' USA Amazon, and it's region-free, so there are no compatibility issues.

I shit you not, I saw a post on some website where it was $18 for Blu-Ray on Amazon US (I think).  But it's not that any more.  It may have been that one day.

Used the Best Buy upgrade and save to get Psycho: 50th Anniversary Edition and Cool Hand Luke on Blu-ray for $4.99 apiece.  Also found a copy of The Thing (John Carpenter) for $9.99 that would've been $4.99 after a coupon but didn't get it this time because my wife is reluctant to let me buy films I haven't seen before (I know, I know,  I'll get around to it eventually).

What does Best Buy do with all those used DVDs?

You know, I work there and I'm not even sure.  My guess is they either bulk sell them to used DVD dealers or straight-up recycle them.  I would lean towards the former because you're required to have the box and artwork when you trade-in and we have to check them for scratches and damages the same as game trade-ins.
