Pretty sure they are recycling them; when I traded mine in, the woman at customer service was placing big stickers with the recycle symbol on the front covers on all of the dvds.

We haven't been putting those stickers on them at my store, as that's a massive waste of stickers. All the collected DVDs go in a designated bin anyway.  You're probably right about the recycing though.  I'd just like to believe that they're being put to good use somehow when possible.

Recycle, as in break down to raw materials and reuse said materials? Maybe the studios won't allow them to take advantage of the secondary sales market?

If they recycle them, that's the route they'd take.  Best Buy strives to be a "green" company, at least on paper.

Managed to get a few more Blus from the Best Buy deal.  Got copies of Heat, Predator: Ultimate Hunter Edition, Casino, and Leon The Professional for $4.99 a piece.  Traded in some old $1.00 DVDs my mom had gotten at some point.  I also snatched up one of the last copies of The Thing (Carpenter) in the Charlotte area Best Buys for $7.99 (it's a deleted item in the system, so don't wait to get it if you're not getting it from Amazon or something).  Never seen any of them.  Gotta earn some CHUD street cred.

I've just never gotten around to them.  If I didn't trust the majority opinion of the Chewers, there are dozens of films I now own and love that I might never have heard of.  I only have so much time and money.  I'll probably never get around to seeing everything I want.

Ooo, Watchmen and Ocean's 12/13 for $8 each on BR?  I may have to pick those up.

Best Buy is selling the Firefly: The Complete Series blu for $19.99, which is also eligible for the Upgrade & Save promotion to knock it down to $14.99.  So dust off all of those old, unwatched copies of the The Matrix Reloaded and get moving!

Best Buy has The Wild Bunch on Blu-ray for $7.99.

Amazon has the 30 for 30 Collector's Edition Blu-Ray set for $43.99 right now. Includes the first 30 films in the series.

Apparently, the Upgrade & Save deal is coming back to Best Buy next week.  And the 4-disc deluxe version of Prometheus is $20 after the deal.

Best Buy has the Nightmare on Elm Street Collection on blu-ray  for 45 bucks. It's their exclusive so you won' find it anywhere else.

At this moment, there is a glitch at Columbia House, and almost every blu-ray is $5.95. Pre-orders, boxed sets.... everything. Plus $4.99 flat rate shipping. This is going to bury the company.

Or they just refuse to honor those deals.

Yeah, Columbia House has honored some big glitches in the past, but I doubt people are getting that $350.00 Harry Potter set for $6.

Yeah I don't have membership so I can't take advantage.

Jennifer's Body is 4.99 at Best Buy.com right now with free shipping. Now is the time to grab that if you like it......or even kinda like it. I mean seriously 5 bucks!

Fast Times at Ridgemont High 10.00 at both Amazon and Best Buy, Best Buy has free shipping on all blu-rays.

The Last Exorcism 7.99 at Best Buy and Amazon.

Creepshow 8.49 at Amazon, 9.99 at Best Buy.

Actually it looks like Best Buy and Amazon are both having a sale for a slew of MGM tBlu-rays for 4.99, specifically horror titles.

Looks like Barnes & Noble is doing the 50% off Criterion thing until 11/19.

Cancelled all my Criterion pre-orders on Amazon and ordered them for far less on Barnes & Noble.  Remember when Amazon had good prices and when you were in California they didn't charge tax?  Yeah, those were the days.

B&N sale ends tomorrow. But, if I were you, I would check Amazon first - Bunch of them are currently cheaper. I used a 30%-off-one-item online code and even then I still paid about $1 more to get The Game and Videodrome than I would have had I looked at Amazon first. Oh well.

Thanks for the heads up. Just cancelled Purple Noon, Following and Brazil with B&N. PN and Following were just a dollar more on Amazon while Brazil was four less. Since they haven't even sent me Heaven's Gate yet, which had an excpected ship date of 11/20, I'll go with Amazon. Lost two bucks each on Down By Law, Royal Tenenbaums and Quadrophenia.

My local Wal-Mart had some Black Friday prices still going, with some 96 cent dvds. They had the 2-disc SE set of Hannibal (2001) there, which is a pretty stellar release, and probably a better option than the current barebones blu, which has a lackluster transfer.

I hear the UK blu of Hannibal is good, it's also region free.
