Forbidden Zone (1980)

Freeway (1996)

Freaked (1993)

The Last American Virgin

The Apple

Putney Swope (B-movie or art film? With Robert Downey, Sr. it's a bit hard to discern)

Evil Dead 2/Army of Darkness

I've heard that DANGER: DIABOLIK is great fun, and I hope to see it soon

The Incredible Shrinking Man

The Fall of the House of Usher

Crimewave

Ravenous (or is it an art film?)

Halloween.

Dance with the Devil or Perdita Durango

Vice Squad- with Wings Hauser as pimp named Ramrod.

Does the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly count as a B movie? I'm of the opinion that pretty much anything with Lee Van Cleef in it is a B movie, no matter how good it is.

Near Dark

Deadly Prey, trust me a must see film.

You know how some films are so bad that they are good, and then there are films that are so bad they elipse being good and go back to being bad? Well this film takes it one step further, it is so bad it crosses through being good then bad and makes it back to being a classic.

ps. I have no idea what I just said

Does Terminator count? I've heard it referred to as a B-movie, but am not entirely sure it qualifies. If so, that's my pick.
The Hidden is pretty great, too.

Yes i'm not really sure about that either, if i had to say i would say it is a B-movie! and if so, i would also class it as one of the greatest if the greatest B-movie ever made. I think its better then the sequel anyhow!

Dude, I had completely forgotten about this movie. Saw it about a year ago (stoned nontheless) and was blown away. Thanks for the reminder, I g/g see it again.

Thank you.
I like how brutal it is, the tempo is high, and it has a lot of pretty dark humor.

You know, I bought the Special Edition DVD of Hidden a couple of years ago, and was a little disappointed. It's still pretty kickass, but not quite as good as I remember.

The story is pulpish, it's sci-fi/thriller, it's low budget... I don't really know why it wouldn't be considered a B-movie , but the term generally implies low quality. This is (obviously) not the case with T1, which is why I would hesitate to label it a B-movie, at least in "general public".

Does Krull count? What about the original Beastmaster?

definitely a "yes" on Beastmaster.

BTW, has anyone seen either of those two coming-of-age films Coscarelli did before the first PHANTASM? I've heard they're surprisingly excellent.
