Has anyone picked this up yet? I was thinking about getting it, so I just wanted to know if it's worth the money. It's getting good reviews, but I wanted to hear some opinions from folks who have the game.
I'm probably gonna pick it up...just not now....

Is it limited print? If so I may have to pick it up before I'd actually want to.
Haven't got their shipments here, fuck.

Looks worth it, online play should be tops.
I haven't got this yet, but a few friends of mine have and they are claiming it is the best 3-D fighter ever. Also the opening movie is awesome, it features the song "Dream On" by Aerosmith.
It's out there already?

Not due out here until November 20th. It's a Christmas buy for me, I'll be playing it online to break up all the FPSing on Live with Halo, along with the new Worms game (guarunteed to be hilarious).

useless post

Ok so I bought this today and I have watched the opening movie and one of the story modes once. And from that little exposure I’m happy. But I like fighting games and if I’m ever not under a deadline I would love to play online. I probably won’t be able to tell ya’ll any more this weekend (GTA:SA). It looks freaking great though.

Yeah, I watched the video review on IGN and they play part of the opening movie. The song really works well and the intro looks pretty cool. I think I've made up my mind to get it too. Probably tomorrow afternoon when I get off work. I'll be gettin' online tomorrow night if anyone is up for some good ol' fashioned ass-whoopin'.

I have always liked the DOA series, since DOA2 for the dremamcast. But sadly I can't get this right now. I went to Gamestop and saw it there but I paid in full my Halo2 reservation in case I don't have money by Nov 9. So DOA has to wait till the 12th or so.

For those that picked this up so far, how the hell do you unlock hitomi ???
The game isnt bad, haven't been online with it much, but I can see some serious battle royals in the near future. Story wise it makes NO sense at all, and I'm sick of fighting that big fat guy at the end of "story" mode all the damn time. Who is he anyway ?

I don't know who the fat guy is, and I don't know how to unlock Hitomi, but I just picked this up a few minutes ago, and I'm gonig to head online with it soon. So, come get some bitches.
Argghhh, i'm still waiting for them to get this here, it's probably going to hit shelves this Tuesday, wanna whoop some ass online and unlock some costumes, love a game tat makes you collect a bunch of crap for no real good reason.

Cana nyone tell me if this has a scoreboard feature? That'd be cool if you could upload your survival records and stuff.

Darth--Yeah man, there's a upload feature. At least I know there is one on survival. I've only tried story, survival, and online mode. So I don't know about the others. This game is really fun online though. The "online arcade" thingie is pretty cool. I likes it.

Future shop at metrotown...most of the others should have it by now too...check the broadway one..I'd be really suprised if granville didnt have it yet, being the flagship store and all
post #17 of 31
Broadway one had it, and SHIT it was cold on the way back.

Came with nonsensical cards of Kasumi and Ayane, Nice.
Yeah, mine came with those same cards. I've got Hitomi unlocked now, but I can't figure out how to use her in single player to unlock more costumes. Getting online is a little odd, you have to use a profile name thats different from your live handle or you can't log in (at least I couldn't). But then once you are logged in, you can hit the black button and it displays everyones Live tag anyway.

And yes, it's colder than a witches tit out there, but it's almost November after all....
My Tag's Darth Chocula, and cause i'm staying atmy friends for another day I could only briefly play it went I stopped by my house, played Survival, got about 16 hen uploaded it, 660 something on the Normal mode thing, tried joinging an online game, lagged, damn sister downloading albums online, grrrrrrrr........

Unlocked one costume for kasumi and the intro was a bit confusing.

Yes indeed, the intro is really kind of random. As are the story mode things, as someone else has already stated. There's no explaination as to why the characters have the interactions they do, and then they just kind of end. But, the real reason to have this game is to play online, so I guess no one at Team Ninja really cared about the stories making sense.

You'd like to think that wouldn't you, DOA2 has bee around since 2001 and the story was the exact same randomness back then.

But really, in the end it's about woman beating the crap out of eahc other, love the uploading feature, i'm a big fan of "scoreboard everything" games.

This pic best sums up DOAU

hmmmm...haven't unlocked any bikinis yet, must be on the harder settings I guess. I was under the impression that this was going to tie in with the volleyball game they made. All I've seen is one background on the beach. Dammit I hate having to work for my soft core video game smut !!!!!!!

Ok, so I really like this game a lot. However, it's missing one thing that I really wish it had: A more functional practice mode. One where you can set the computer to fight against you and you can spar as long as you want against an active opponent. Soul Calibur II has it, so does Guilty Gear. I really like that kind of practice mode. You can crank up the difficulty and practice against a bad-ass computer controlled opponent, but you don't have to worry about life meters and all that jazz. Other than that, this game is the shiznit. Yes, I said shiznit.

That's funny that this isn't in Ultimate, I remember being it on the Dreamcast DOA2 and on DOA3. I haven't really checked the training mode on this one (I don't own it but a friend does). I did play online for about an hour or two tonight. This game will be the reason besides Halo 2 for me to finally buy Xbox live.

After playing this for a week and unlocking some stuff and going 2-1 against Angry Badger I thnik this is an incredibly addictinve Xbox Live title, with this and Halo 2 my free time is GONE.

Agreed. I'm just worried that with Halo 2 coming out that no one will be playing DOA for a good while. Don't get me wrong, I'm going to be owned by Halo 2 just like everyone else, but I'm sure I'll want to play something else after multiple hours of Halo. You know, just to take a little break.
Oh I wouldn't sweet the number of DOAU players, they'll be there Nov. 9 and after.

I'm just trying to top my survival scores now, gotta...be...number...1
[i'm really high on the very hard mode list]

Ok, so I have one more complaint to make and then I'll be done. Is it just me, or does the AI on the game seem a little bit inconsistent? I'll play through story mode to unlock stuff, and sometimes I'll breeze through on normal, but other times, I'll get the crap kicked out of me two or three times in a row by the computer. And I mean when I'm using the same character multiple times in a row (when I'm unlocking costumes), not when I play through with different characters. Other than that and the practice mode thing I mentioned ealier, I'm addicted to this game, and it's not just the boobies either. Though they help.

BTW, does anyone know how to unlock Hitomi yet? I thought it would be by beating the game with everyone, but after I did that, I just unlocked Tengu, whom I don't care about. Do I have to beat the game with everyone on a harder difficulty level or something? to unlock Tengu, I played through with everyone on easy. Haven't gotten through it with everyone on normal yet.

And damn, there are a lot of costumes. I've unlocked about 15 with Kasumi, and still no bikini.

Hitomi: Beat the story mode on normal or higher with Hayate or whatever his name is.

Extra costumes Only a certain number of costumes can be unlocked through normal story mode, after 15 or so you'll have to move it to Very hard. I think it's when they reach their Xbox costume.
Really weird: I played time attack once and beat it, now that's the only way to unlock costumes...
