Having not played the game, but read every review ever written (LOL) I would guess that is might make a great weekend rental. 10 hours on normal is very short (but it should be fun) but the replay value might be less.

Although I loved playing co-op with HALO and I am very anxious to get a friend over, grab a 12 pack, and try and blow through the co-op in one Saturday afternoon (and evening). Although reaction time slows down after a few beers. You know what they say.."Don't drink and try to save Earth".

When I checked on Friday, the ebgames site said the game would ship today. I"m going to check my status at lunch and I'll let you know what mine says.

Mine just shipped from EB Games. Hopefully yours did as well, digger.

That's a load off my mind. Even though I'm picking up an extra regular copy tonight at midnight, I was still sweating for a bit there. The limited edition must be mine.

Here is a good discussion...

Is the limited edition worth the extra money? I got the Warcraft 3 limited edition and I never really got to enjoy the extra materials that came with it. So do I want to pay extra knowing that I may not ever take advantage of the bonus material?
It's probably a moot point, Trick. If you haven't already preordered a limited edition, chances are you're not getting one tomorrow. They've all been preordered for a while now.

But if your store gets extra copies or somebody doesn't pick up their preorder, then yeah, it's probably worth it. Supposedly there's about two hours worth of behind-the-scenes material on the bonus disc, and the metal case looks cool.

SHIPPED.

I say the limited edition is well worth it because:

A: It's only five bucks more than the regular edition.
B: The packaging is sexxxy.
C: Word is the behind-the-scenes supplements are actually great and provide an interesting view into the making of the game and the inner workings of Bungie.

I agree that it is a moot point right now and I already pre-ordered a regualr edition, just curious. But I agree that the metal case is bad ass.

Oh one more thing I have been thinking about. The three new XBOX headsets from Plantronics. I am not a huge fan on the current XBOX communicator (okay I despise the way it fits my head) so I have been checking these things out. Trying to figure out which one I like best.

This one is $60..thats a lot of money...but it looks cool

I had a cellphone headset like this (behind the ear clip) and I found it annoying. But the $30 pircetag is more like it.

Only $20 and not that many difference between the $60 one.

What do you guys think?
all I know is that supposedly the $60 one is fantastic and you can't even feel it on your head, so it could be worth it if you plan on playing a shitload on LIVE

Kind of a lame question, but one I'm trying to find out. When playing Halo via LAN, does each Xbox need to have a copy of the disc? I only bought an Xbox a couple months ago and haven't been able to do any LAN stuff yet.

Live out in the frickin' sticks, so anything faster than dial-up isn't an option...

Just posting anytime I see Halo 2 in the news...

Quote:
SEATTLE - In the days before Microsoft Corp. released the hotly anticipated Halo 2 video game for the Xbox game console, some gamers noticed a sudden spike in the number of people being kicked off the company's online game service. That was no coincidence.

With Halo 2 expected to entice a new batch of users to the Xbox Live online gaming community, Microsoft says it got tougher with people suspected of making unauthorized modifications to their Xboxes.

Gamers who modify Xboxes usually do so either to be able to cheat on games or use pirated copies, although some also have made changes so they can use the Xbox for other functions, from running Linux to playing music.

Cameron Ferroni, general manager of the Xbox software platform, says Microsoft is not interested in suing individual users. But the company does want to banish scofflaws from its online service, Xbox Live.....

Hey, you guys with the HUD getting chopped on widescreen TVs, it's getting fixed. That "failed to load map" thing is getting fixed, too.

Quote:
What:
Today (11/17) Bungie Studios and Xbox Live are releasing a free mandatory auto update for Halo 2
This download is free of charge as part of your Xbox Live membership.*

When:
The downloads will be available Thursday, November 17, 2004 after 3:00pm ET/12:00pm PT.
You may have the download available before this time, but everyone will have access to it by the time posted above.
If you don’t see the download right away don’t panic. Don’t post that you don’t have it yet. It will show up shortly.

Where:
This auto update will be available to Xbox Live members in all countries that Xbox Live is sold.

Details on the downloads:
This auto update will address the slow matchmaking issues that some members are experiencing. In addition, this auto update provides a fix to the issue where certain Television displays were clipping off the sides of the HUD. Finally, this auto update should decrease the “Dirty Disc/Failed to load map" errors that some members are experiencing.

That is all the information that I have at this time.

Thanks for using Xbox Live!

That's like an early Christmas right there.

Goddamn, I love bungie. Seriously, getting this fixed in this short of a time, with all the pressures of a huge launch and keeping everything working at all on Live is great.

Loo ing forward to seeing the full picture tonight.

In addition to the 480 HD support, everyone will get Foundation!

The three main items the patch will fix:
Quote:
Matchmaking: Some players have experienced irritating delays while waiting for a game to be found while in Quickmatch and Optimatch. This is caused by a combination of factors, including connection speed and other detailed nuances of matchmaking. We have isolated the cause and applied a solution to the autoupdate which should normalize that wait time.

480p Support: The autoupdate will improve support for 480p resolutions on a wide range of HDTV and EDTV displays, correcting a flaw that the software encountered with some sets causing part of the HUD to be obscured. This problem does not currently occur on all HDTV sets, so it is possible that your specific set is unaffected right now and it will therefore not be altered or changed by this autoupdate. If you are seeing the HUD clip or bleed off the screen in 480p widescreen and 4:3 modes) this should address that problem perfectly.

Foundation: As something of a treat for players, we’ve decided to make the unlockable multiplayer map, Foundation, available to everyone. Previously, to unlock Foundation, it was necessary to both complete the game and activate a “training event” on the final level. We reckon that was too tough for most, and wanted very much to share Foundation – inspired by our old shoot ‘em up Marathon – with Halo 2 players everywhere. Once you have the autoupdate, you’ll be able to play this rarely seen arena map with anyone you wish. And be sure to try a game of four-team CTF on this map. It's a hoot!

must... get... Xbox... LIVE!

The new Matchmaking Playlist update is out! Here's the link:

http://www.bungie.net/News/Story.asp...E-C290DF4E1FDC

It sounds like the biggest addition is the new Team Slayer playlist: all Team Slayer, all the time. There's a new Training Grounds playlist that plays Rumble Pit games, too, and a few tweaks to existing lists.

I wonder if this will affect the amount of times we get Headlong on Major Clan Battles?

Holy cripes. Halo 2 has sold five million in three weeks , and almost 1:1 with Xbox Live users (approx. 1,000,000 on Live, 900,000+ unique Halo 2 users).
Ok, here's a dumb question. How the hell do you host a game?? I try to create a custom game, but noone joins. There's always a lock next to the gametype I choose that says only friends and clan member can join. How can I open this bitch up and let anyone in???! Help me be a host!!
sorry imperator...it doesnt work like that. You can only host private games for ppl on your friends' list, clan members, or ppl you invite.

The only way to play by yourself (insert joke here) is by joining one of the preset match types on the opening page i.e. rumble pit, team skirmish, etc.
