AWESOME beginning to the new season. The callbacks to season 1 were fantastic, as there were great jokes in them that negated you needing to have seen the first season to enjoy them. Thank god this got a season two.
the bait and switch with Oscar and George... didn't see it coming. I just thought they were hinting that Oscar was Buster's real father the whole episode.

and the great line: "I blue myself."
I found the continuity from the last episode of Season 1 to this episode was hurt by everyone's changed appearence... despite them flashing back to it as "1 day earlier."

(Buster is noticably thinner, Lindsay's hair and face are different, Michael's hair as well, and George Michael is losing the baby fat.)
That second, "I blue myself" completely killed me.

Definitely the funniest show on tv right now.
Great episode, though the changes in cast member appearances (as stated by Stuber) was a little distracting at first. The insinuation that Buster might be Oscar's progeny was made in the first season.

Michael: "There's got to be a better way of saying that."

&

GOB: "I've got the thingy! Half in English, half in...scribbly."
classic stuff, been waiting for this all summer.

and the oscar/george bluth switch didn't occur till they were inside the hospital, he stole anyongs uncle same wig and pretended to be oscar to get the briefcase. so all those other comments about oscar being buster's dad still hold.

the realty agent is a correspondant on the daily show yes?

I'm pissed. The Fox station here in NYC messed up its programming. Although the station claimed The Simpsons were on at 8 and Arrested Development at 8:30, in actuality Malcom in the Middle came on at 8:00 and then My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss came on afterward. I called several of my friends and their programming was messed up too. I hope this gets reaired.

I missed it last night too.

This morning I went to suprnova.org, and downloaded the episode using BitTornado. Widescreen with 5.1 sound, and the price was right (free!). Can't beat it.

That's how I saw most of the first season.
My favorite thing in the episode? Gob as W. I thought that's where they were going early on during his "I've never admitted any mistakes...what would I have to admit to being wrong about?" lines, but then nothing came of it and I thought I had just imagined it. The eventual payoff was fucking gold.

Hmm, I'll try that website. Thanks.
I'm praying this show finally finds its audience this season. From the look of the season premiere, they haven't missed a beat and the show will continue to be one of the funniest programs on television.

"What was the last thing he said?"
[flashback] "I blue myself".

that's how i saw the entire 1st season... and then repaid 'em by purchasing the dvds.

suprnova.org is fantastic.

They were hinting at Oscar being Buster's father as early as Oscar's first appearance. If you've got the DVDs, note Oscar's penchant for giving unsolicited backrubs. Also his pride when Buster is "playing" soccer.

I concur.

Yes a hilarious episode. Tobias was on fire in this episode.

But the gag that keeps me chuckling even now, was when Gob had his assistant with him in the board room and he would point to places he would need holes in the wall so he could make a better shot on the pool table.

A great start.

Agreed. I missed it at first, but then when he pointed to the window, I busted out laughing.

Them traveling back and forth to Phoenix was pretty funny, as well.

I was walking my dog this morning by a car lot, and I noticed this weird truck with a big ladder up the back of it. I thought they were filming a car commercial, when I noticed that the ladder had BLUTH written on the side of it. I realized that it was from Arrested Development and they must have been shooting a scene there. I literally whooped out loud, and got embarassed when a couple of PA's looked my way. I should be used it it by now because they shoot a lot of their marina-based stuff in Marina del Rey...The banana stand is in the "fisherman's village"....I didn't get to see any actors though
post #20 of 416
You really should try to get your picture taken in front of the stair car or "The Big Yellow Joint."
I didn't have a camera. i was going to run up the stairs and have my boyfriend take a picture, but i didn't think i could make it home and grab one in time...

they film the scenes with Gob on the Segueway in Culver City. my friend was driving past once when he saw it being filmed and almost rear-ended the car in front of him when he realized who it was.

Anyone else catch that quick Thomas Jane cameo as the homeless guy?
Sure did, great episode tonight! Great to see return of the Cornballer (and its ramifications.) What a great show.
Great episode tonight. Too many hilarious moments:

The blue dot
"I just want my kids back"
The Buster Keaton homage
Diamond Cream
George Michael's girlfriend
"Solid as a Rock"
and of course..."The Cornballer"
and of course..."..rock always beats scissors"
I liked the continuing Gob and Bush comparison. When they unveiled the "Mission Accomplished" sign it was fucking histerical.
Classic episode. I loved the whole plot of Tobias following his wife around, great stuff there!

Also, I thought I recognized the homeless guy but couldn't put a name to his face. What I find odd is this isn't the first time I've heard him called Tom Jane now. Is he now going by that instead of Thomas Jane (which I think is better)? Either way, it's always nice to see the male stripper/vigilante get some work.
"You lied to me! I'm going to war!"

Awesome episode.
"And get rid of the Sea Word." -- Michael to GOB.
"I will leave when I'm good and ready." -- Lucille.
I watched this show for the first time last night. It was awesome.

George Michael: "...she calls it a 'mayonegg'. Are you ok?"

Michael: "I don't feel so good."

Was there an explanation for the finger-shaped bruises on the underside of the spokes-model's arm?

Another great episode.
"I heard zoo noises."

No sophomore slump for this one.

Thank you!!!

my god...what a ingenious episode. I loved every minute of it. Tobias following his wife was just downright hilarious. I laughed out loud so many times watching this show.

Easily the funniest show on tv.

The one thing that got me was GOB saying, 2 months!...we are going to do it in...2 WEEKS!!! (a shower of pennies appears on the conference table).
Quick everyone! Favorite Characters?

Tobias is easily my favorite character. He's so over the top in his mannerisms yet you have no idea what drives him. Is it the desire to stay in the closet? Is he even in the closet? What closet is that anyway? You just don't know. David Cross has a new fan and I'm going to have to check out this "Mr. Show" everyone's been talking about.

Plus, Last season's mention of his Never-Nude phobia- along with Gob's Mr. Bananagrabber- is possibly one of the funniest TV revelations since "Cosmo" Kramer.
GOB = BEST SITCOM CHARACTER SINCE KRAMER

If my dreams come true, GOB will be as recognizable as Kramer is when Arrested Development finally goes off the air (in 6-7 years i hope).

I am no David Cross fan at all, but I FUCKING LOVE TOBIAS. Hilarious stuff. I think its easily the best work he has ever done. I always found Mr. Show to be too wishy washy and silly for the sake of silly. As Tobias, Cross is definitely doing better comedy.

I was wondering about that myself. It was way too obvious not to notice.

I'm equally torn between Buster, Gob and Tobias. When Buster wears clothes that helps him blend in with the wallpaper at his mom's house - absolutely hilarious.
In such a stellar cast, it's hard to pick a favourite. For me it's Arnett as GOB. Some of his stuff is so subtle, like every time he tries to use the phone in the Bluth offices (asking Michael how to intercom; hanging up on George, Sr. by mistake). Kills me.
It's such an amazing cast, there really is no reason to pick. Everyone gets moments to shine. But since he hasn't really been mentioned, I'll say this - Bateman's reaction shots are some of the best moments on the show.

I thought the season opener was pretty good, but this past Sunday's episode was constantly hilarious and inventive.
2nd Episode - amazing.

I was left with a so-so feeling after the season premiere, but this one was gold. I love that depsite Michael's clear intellectual superiority to the rest of his family, he still has lapses of moronic behavior (it's Jerry Seinfeld-esque, they seem thrown into the foray as a mere spectator but surprise you with their ability to be just as dimwitted as the supporting cast....

"Isn't that right, Mr. Manager?"
"Mr. Manager!"
"Manager... We just say 'manager.'")

G.O.B.'s character is borderline brilliant... the Thomas Jane (fuck that "Tom" shit) cameo was funny. I thought it was going nowhere and they were just pimping him out there... but then......"I want my kids back!"... hilarious.

Dr. Tobias Funke is my hero.
Just caught up on the first two episodes. This show keeps gettimng funnier and funnier.

Episode 1 highlights:

Tobias: I just blue myself.
Buster: Mom volunteered my for the army just because the fat man dared her to.
Doctor: It...looks like he's dead. He's got like blue paint on him or something.

Episode 2:
Tobias and Gob ruled the episode. Too many good stuff to name (you all covered most of the good stuff already.)
Oscar's erection.
"I have no problem with that".
"Paper covers rock."

And stuber, I agree with you. Michael doesn't fall far from the family tree. He may have the business sense, but he was raised by Lucille and George, Sr. so technically Michael is capable of being just as looney as the rest of them. One particular example, is when Michael wanted to teach George Michael a lesson for smoking pot and resorted to playing a practical joke on him the way his dad used to to do himself.
Whenever I am reminded of the "I just want my Kids back!" line that jane delivered at the construction site, I literally laugh out loud.

Also, "you're a sweet girl and all, but I'm Tom Jane"
Ice is awesome.

While Martin Mull starts to get annoying.
Tobias rules.

"I know you're the big marraige expert...oh wait, isn't your wife dead? *silence* I guess that was little inappropriate."

I disagree with the Martin Mull comment, as Gene Parmesan cracked me the fuck up throughout the entire episode.
Gene Parmesan didn't crack me up so much as Lucille squealing in delight did whenever Gene revealed himself, even though he was wearing extremely obvious undercover costumes.

However, the whole Ann storyline is quite annoying. I'm not that into it.

Yeah, that's what made it good, in my opinion, Lucille's excitement everytime.
My God...Gene Parmesan...I fucking loved him. The best was when he rips off his fake mustache in mexico, when he already has a full friggin beard!!!

Ice was hilarious as well. I loved how he tackled tobias because his color and hair pattern matched the blueprint given to him...also notice that the blueprint was also actually blue another sign of idiocy from the new secretary.

I fucking loved the Quincy Jones thing also.

God I laughed out loud so much during htis episode.

The anne thing is weaker, but that joke about being on anne or something in the car, had me in tears.
