According to reports from foreign diplomats, the North Korean authorities have started removing portraits of Kim Jong Il from public buildings.

This could be big, will update with link as soon as one's available.

This is a MMMMAAAASSSSIIIIVE victory for the Bush administration!

I heard Bush went over to N Korea and ousted Kim Jong Il with his bare hands. Decades of crushing poverty, starvation and complete governmental ineptitude had nothing to do with it!

Bush doesn't need the weirding module any longer. His name has become a killing word!

Bush gets a second term and all of a sudden the enemies of freedom (Arafat, KJI, who else?) start dying of "natural causes".

Better clear the shelves for a few more conspiracy theory books.

It was that darned Mr. Clark!

If true, I'm glad he's gone, and there's no single president that can claim victory for this. Although you can bet your ass Bush will sure try.

This would surprise the hell out of me. Kim Jong Il is loved like a cult leader in the North. His picture is in every home and children are taught it is disrepectful to point to their "Dear Leader" with just one hand. They must use two hands. I don't see how it's possible to have a peaceful leadership change if KJI doesn't go along with it. It could get really, really bad for the region if there is any sort of civil war.

Mastronikolas, where did you see this? I can't find anyone reporting this story.

Edited to say I found a story about a new book coming out detailing several demonstrations and revolts against KJI over the last several years. http://theseoultimes.com/ST/ (This might not be a direct link).

Can't read too much into this as of yet. He has gone off into seclusion again after the death of his wife and the re-election so it could be he is simply trying to keep a low profile.

Car is right, the man is loved and in such a way I find any words of his overthrow to be sketchy at best.

Oh...Reuters is running the story, I only saw it quoted... edit: http://www.reuters.co.uk/newsPackage...8&section=news

Here's the Austrailian article about our friend Kim Jong Il... http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au...5E2703,00.html

And pardon me...it's consort not wife...
