Christmas Eve Sarajevo by Mannheim Steamroller. I hate this song but damn if it isn't catchy as all get out.

Another UK/USA thing is that The Transsiberian Orchestra are still fairly 'new' over here. That album seemed to get a bit of notice last year, but it's still nowhere near as overplayed as it seems to have been in the USA. Which is good because I really kind of like the Lost Christmas Eve.

No mention of Aimee Mann's One More Drifter In the Snow? For shame.

Also, nothing says Christmas to me like a 45 of Alvin and the Chipmunks' "Christmas Don't Be Late" played at 33 1/3 rpm.

On Chris Isaak's recent Christmas album (which I quite enjoy) he wrote "Brightest Star," the first overtly Christian Christmas song that I can recall being written by a mainstream rock artist in... well, maybe ever.

My wife and I have a Christmas music collection that is waaaay too large to be healthy, so I mostly listen to my own custom mixes, but for complete albums, my perennial faves include Leon Redbone's Christmas Island, Squirrel Nut Zippers' Christmas Caravan, Maddy Prior's A Tapestry of Carols, The Carol Album by Andrew Parrott and the Taverner Consort, and of course A Charlie Brown Christmas.

And, c'mon guys-- am I REALLY the only one that's enjoying Bob Dylan's Christmas in the Heart?

Fairytale is my favorite Christmas song of all time. "Christmas Baby Please Come Home" off Christmas Gift For You is a very close second.

I love "Christmas, Baby Please Come Home" but I kind of love 80% of A Christmas Gift For You. I've also started hearing some of Sufjan Stevens Christmas songs being played on the radio, which is awesome because I love those songs but it's bizarre because it's Sufjan Stevens being played on national radio.

Underrated

She Came Home For Christmas by Mew, such an epic and heartbreaking song that just sends shivers down the spine.

I Want An Alien for Christmas - Fountains of Wayne - Just good fun

Everything is going to be cool this Christmas - Eels - Again just a good fun jaunty track with the familiar dark edge from Mr E.

OVERRATED AND OVERPLAYED - STOP THE FUCKIN CAVALRY!!by I cant even remember possibly Satan.

Yeah, I love me some Pogues, but Fairytale DID make that leap from "underrated" to "overrated" real fast. 'Cause lol they're bitter and disaffected and slightly tipsy like us.

I'm a big fan of Chris Rea's Driving home for Christmas

I don't think much to Julian Casablancas's foray into the Christmas song with "I wish it was Christmas today". It's got a catchy beat and chorus and i can see it being popular when released but it's a bit poo.

In the last couple of years, people seem to have ironically latched onto that shitty WHAM song as a Christmas classic. OVERRATED.

I had that Chipmunks 45 and was tempted to mention it but I thought "Eh, probably just nostalgia. Lemme read what other people put." I loved those Chipmunks albums when I was a kid. Nostalgia or not, totally worth the mention.
