Stephen King's Black House - any good ?

I started King's 'Black House' a while ago, but work took over and I didn't get very far. Is this a worthy sequel to the Talisman ?

No, not really.

Decent

It's good as a serial killer-with-supernatural-abilities novel, but don't expect it to be a direct sequel to The Talisman - it's more of a spin-off to the Dark Tower books. I downloaded the audio book from Audible.com (great service btw) and liked the narrator and the story got me involved enough for me to finish it. It does have some grisly descriptions of the victims bodies, which can be a plus or minus. It's just not a worthy sequel to The Talisman, and it has a different feel all together. More X-Files, less fantasy.

I dug Black House. Granted, I did read it before I read the Talisman, mainly due to the fact that I heard it was pretty much Dark Tower 4.5, and I was reading anything Dark Tower. Plus I had heard already that it doesn't really feel like a sequil to Talisman. So having said all that, I loved Black House. But at the same time, it was kind of pointless making it a Dark Tower story, since in the end it didnt even really tie in with the Dark Tower books. Man, what a disapontment Dark Tower turned out to be. But that's another story. I say give Black House a shot.

I'm a big fan of Black House, but as has already been said, as a sequal it's not so good.

Nearly five years later and I still can't get through this. King / straub have good ideas, but very turgid writing styles.

I really enjoyed it, and regretted that Jack never showed up in the final DT novel.
