Excuse me while I rant America, but so many of you people just totally don't get it do you? What the hell is wrong with some of you people? Seriously, I'm am getting so fed up with hearing how bad Saddam Hussein was and this and that, and how there are these seriously evil people doing all these horrible attrocities when our own people have done things nearly as bad and in some cases worse.
It's time for a wake up call people. It's time to own up to the things that we have done, it's time to take a look at our own faults and failures and really try to change and keep those things from happening again. It's time to realize that we ARE NOT morally superior over the entire world.
We have done things just as bad or worse than any of those nations that we oh so love to point the finger at (Iraq, Afghanistan, Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, Communist Russia, Ancient Rome), we're just indenial about it. We put the Japanese in concentration camps during WW2. We commited genocide against Native Americans. We've senselessly attacked other nations knowing full well of the long term affects and that there would be a large loss of civilian life. In Iraq we intentionally bombed their power plants and poisoned their water supply. We've supported terrorist regimes and countries that support terrorism in the past and in some cases we still do (such as Saudi Arabia).
We've gone as far to attack a nation when we were not prevoked, when there was no legitimate threat, when even if there was some threat we were still dealing with one of the weakest military forces on the planet. And all while the real legitimate threat that needed to be taken care, and things on the homefront that needed to be paid for, were put on the back burner.
We consume more than any nation, we pollute more than any other nation, we use more than any other nation, and most Americans give back a whole lot less than they get.
Sorry but I'm just really disgusted with my country right now. I'm sick of the hypocricy, I'm sick of people claiming moral superiorty, I'm sick of people who are not legitimately being oppressed, discriminated against, whatever, claiming they're victimized (*cough*thereligiousright*cough*). I'm sick of the greed, the complaining, the sellfishness, the consumerism. And I am totally and completely disgusted by the ammount of ignorant people in this country, not that I have a problem with people who have different political beliefs than me, but rather people who blindly follow their leaders whether or not they're really doing any good for them, and I'm certain a good ammount of people who voted for Bush this time around were those types of people - I'm just fed up with it.
