Advanced Screenings

Do any of you fine chewers out there have any tips on finding advanced screenings to movies? I'd love to be able to find one, and they seem to choose different locations for each one, but I havent seen any here in SC. I did get into an advanced screening of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, which was one helluva movie to get into (they gave us posters and all kinds of stuff) but ive come up a bit short as of late
(late = last 12 years).

Feel free to share stories and such about any screenings you folks have been to, so I can have an idea of how to weasel my way into one.

Although it's generally not a good idea to approach strangers in NYC, outside of most major movie theaters are people with clipboards offering free advanced screening passes. They are legit. And I've starr gazed at many a premiere because of them.

I did email Nick a month or so ago for tickets to one of his screenings, but I never got a reply. I might have sent it too late or something. Are those screenings all CHUD folks?

In addition to keeping an eye out for the clipboard people, listen to the radio, watch local TV stations, and check the movie section of your local free weekly newspaper. They'll usually have information about where and when you can pick up passes. Typically, this is done as a promotional deal for the place giving out the tickets. For example, Dragon's Lair Comics sponsored the KNVA (local WB affiliate) screening for Tomb Raider, and you had to go there to get a pass.

Also, if you have friends/contacts in the media in your town, tell them to pass on word of any screenings to you, or just flat out ask them for passes if they are cool with it and have access.

me and a couple of people that i work with at the movie theater saw an "advanced screening" of Snatch at like 1:00 AM once.they had the movie spooled up already and they said that employees could watch it if they stayed til all customers left.
