Fangoria TV?

There is nothing offical yet, but there is alot of talk that Joe Bob Briggs' Scream Channel (USA) and Fangoria are teaming up! If so we could be looking at Fangoria TV early next year. No one is saying anything official but they aren't it isn't happening when asked either. This is what Fangoria is saying, or isn't saying about it.

This could be bad news for THC. If a Fangoria/Scream channel launches before THC it would not look good for them. Fangoria has one big fan base and that could be a big help to them. Think of it, in Jan. 2005 Fangoria comes out with a special issue and their own horror channel. For months now I read post where people have said that Joe Bob made they wrong choice. Maybe he didn't after all.

Check this out! http://fangoriatv.com/index2.html I didn't know they were on the air!

Sorry to burst your bubble about Joe Bob Briggs and Fangoria, Borgosi .... but it isn't true.
There is some confusion between Scream Channel (Joe Bob's attempt) and the network formerly known as Scream TV, which is now Fangoria TV. The network formerly known as Scream TV, launched on Halloween 2004, by airing the NYC Halloween Day Parade. Fangoria TV will be in Hi Definition, unlike the "other" Scream Channel. Fango will also air mostly new & original programming, unlike the "other" Scream Channel.
So Joe Bob did make the wrong choice by going to Scream Channel and not Scream TV !!!
How do I know? I work for Fangoria TV. If you click on the link you supplied, at the top where it says "Programs", you'll see me made up by SFX/Make up artist Josh Turi in the "Craft" photo.
As soon as an official announcement is made, we will update the website with more information and surprises.

So, I'm confused. Is Fangoria TV actually on the air right now? In what areas?
Right now, Fangoria TV is only available to people with Hi Def cable service on the iN Demand network. We are actually in negotiations with other cable companies as well, for a larger audience.
This is turning into quite the horserace between Fango, Scream, and Horror Channel.
Actually the race is over, Fangoria TV debuted on Halloween, and still airs in limited areas......the others didn't.........
So what do you think- will the other channels make to television and will they prosper? Seriously, here. No spin.
I'm sorry but if I tell you, the cyanide capsule sugically implanted in my molar will self destruct......JK
Seriously, IMHO they will launch someday, but there is no way of telling whether they will succeed or not. Remember years back, when there were 3 comedy channels on the air? Now there's only one....
I've worked in the television industry for 10 yrs now and nothing surprises me. Look at all the shopping networks. Who honestly thought that they would all still be in business today? The TV industry today is a crap shoot...with the emphasis on crap. LOL

Thanks for the info, Weed. Good luck.

If THC winds up not taking off I wonder if Johnny and the gang will come back to the CC when they shut down their website. There's a very good chance it won't happen at all if there's competition already out there.

I don't think the finish line is getting on the air but getting in the most homes and staying there. If you're first and not the best you may be nothing but a foot note. By the way, Monsters HD was first.

If I remember right The Comedy Channel wasn't the first so I wouldn't write THC off just yet. Even if the channel doesn't make the site has and I don't think it would shut down.
No, we would not come back to CC. Sorry, but that bridge is burned and it's all gone now. If, and this is a big UNLIKELY if I speak of, THC doesn't work out for whatever reason, the site we have now will go one. We own it, which we never did with CC.

Competition is a healthy thing, yessir, and there's more than enough room for more than one horror channel on the air. Like it was said, it's not who gets there first, but who stays longest...Trust me, Floydian, the only thing there's a very good chance of is us getting on air that much quicker because of the competition, if it does indeed exist. It would be pretty damn strange if all those involved in THC, with many decades of experience in TV, were to just walk away because of competition...

Man everyone is jumping off THC bandwagon. Why? If you go over to The Scream Channel website and check it out you will be severly dissapointed.

I would rather wait and have a kick ass channel than have them launch and it suck ass. The y could be the 10th channel. If it rocks then it will destroy the competition. I have faith that these guys are gonna make good.

You're right there isn't much to the Scream Channel web-site but they could be putting all of their energy into the channel. They say they will be changing their name so why would they put alot of work into the site just to change it's name?

Fangoria TV's program listings don't look very good but they have 25 years in the horror business so they should have a good idea what the fans want.

THC has a great site and they talk a good talk but what do we really know about them. The only thing that they gone on record about was their launch date and they didn't come through on it.

Other than that we really don't KNOW much about any of them. I'm going to wait and see. The first one on the air, with programing that I like I will call, write and e-mail my cable provider about. Until then I'm not going to get very excited about any of them because so far they're all take and no action.

The best news out of all of this is that Dread Central would stay online even if THC failed.

as a big fan of both horror AND television, I have long wondered why there has never been a widely available genre channel better than the Sci-Fi network. 5000 channels of QVC and other such bullshit later, I'm still wondering. it seems like some of you guys are actually invovled in trying to get these various new channels launched and all I can say is more power to you. but know that from my consumer POV it's been nothing but years of hot air. getting a horror channel on some pay per view niche provider isn't gonna do it--please somebody wake me when one of these channels gets on a national network like DirecTV or Comcast

It's a great time to be a horror fan.
Hey Borgosi when I said the race was over, I meant the race to launch on Halloween... I noticed I forgot to add the wink icon at the end of my statement, so sorry if I seem like I was bragging, cause I wasn't.
Yes, I'm aware Monsters HD was first, but I was referring to the 3 channels Bob Clark had mentioned in his post. Competition is best for all us fans of horror, or any other genre. Look what happened to the WWF after Vince McMahon bought out the competition, his product got stale and they lost fans.
Even tho I'm doing some work for Fango TV, I would LOVE for THC and Scream to succeed, (along with us of course!!) it means the fan boy (or girl) in ALL of us wins! Only time and ratings will tell.

JB I'm glad your situation is all settled. I wasn't aware that you owned the Dread Central. That's really cool at least you guys will still be around. I think though that most people here are being overly optimistic about having multiple horror channels. Do you think another video game channel could be supported? Highly doubtful. I'm not saying that no other horror channel will launch but in the end there will be only one that survives. There just isn't enough of us to warrant any more than that.

I have to disagree. I think that if the different channels will try abd be different enough from each other they can all be around for a long time. One channel could show classic, high brow horror films, one could show "drive-in" style horror films and one could show hardcore horrors from today. There's alot of horror films out there and maybe more fans than they think. Think about this dish network has 3 or 4 shopping channels, surely we can support 3 or 4 horror channels.
I agree that more than one horror channel is wishful thinking. There's only one comedy channel. Only one romance channel. The industry can't even sustain more than one channel specializing in classic films from EVERY genre, as evidenced by AMC's transformation.
It's going to be survival of the fittest.

From what I understand Time Warner bought AMC and Ted Turner wanted TCM to be the classic movie flag ship at the time and that's why AMC changed. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

I'm confused . . . do you have to have a high definition TV (HDTV) to get this channel with a digital cable box or satellite dish, or could you get it with just a digital cable box or satellite dish?
