I didn't know Google hits were a measure of accuracy.

I looked it up too. The first hit is an article by some guy with a website and a persecution complex, the second is a blog called Political Correctness Watch: The Creeping Dictatorship Of The Left, and the third is the wikipedia entry I quoted.

As far as I'm concerned, political correctness has nothing to do with left or right, just a desire to not give offense run amok. Good ol' George Bush uses terms like 'African-American' just as much as anyone else does.

I got stabbed in the hand by a freshly sharpened pencil in 2nd grade...I still have the graphite in my hand...

Yeah, that makes me sad too.
A DAY IN THE LIFE A DAY OF JOE REPUBLICAN

Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with
water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is
clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal
fought for minimum water-quality standards. With his
first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication.
His medications are safe to take because some stupid
commie liberal fought to ensure their safety and that
they work as advertised.

All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his
employer's medical plan because some liberal union
workers fought their employers for paid medical
insurance - now Joe gets it too.

He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs.
Joe's bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man
liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing
industry.

In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo.
His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient
and its amount in the total contents because some
crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he
was putting on his body and how much it contained.

Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath.
The air he breathes is clean because some
environmentalist wacko liberal fought for the laws to
stop industries from polluting our air.

He walks on the government-provided sidewalk to subway
station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It
saves him considerable money in parking and
transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal
fought for affordable public transportation, which
gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

Joe begins his work day. He has a good job with
excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid
holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union
members fought and died for these working standards.
Joe's employer pays these standards because Joe's
employer doesn't want his employees to call the union.

If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he'll
get a worker compensation or unemployment check
because some stupid liberal didn't think he should
lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.

It is noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so
he can pay some bills. Joe's deposit is federally
insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal
wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous
bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great
Depression.

Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage
and his below-market federal student loan because some
elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government
would be better off if he was educated and earned more
money over his lifetime. Joe also forgets that in
addition to receiving his federally subsidized student
loans, he attended a state funded university.

Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father
this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets
in his car for the drive. His car is among the safest
in the world because some America-hating liberal
fought for car safety standards to go along with the
tax-payer funded roads.

He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third
generation to live in the house financed by Farmers'
Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make
rural loans. The house didn't have electricity until some
big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't
belong and demanded rural electrification.

He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His
father lives on Social Security and a union pension
because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made
sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn't
have to.

Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns
on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that
liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He
doesn't mention that the beloved Republicans have
fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys
throughout his day. Joe agrees: "We don't need those
big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all,
I'm a self-made man who believes everyone should take
care of themselves, just like I have."

Are you fucking kidding me?!? Read your history books...thousands of workers died in this country in the early labor movement just to bring you a decent standard of living. Show some fucking respect.

That would mean giving credit to liberals for their accomplishments in history. Conservatives can't have that.

of course not, because being condescendingly offensive to conservatives is just fine by liberal/political correctness standards. Just make sure that you don't turn your rhetoric cannon on any of the "chosen" groups.
Can't wait to see Liberals and Conservatives get together and yell a big collective " They fucked us! " to their parties. Raising taxes and lower standards of living are the future because its good business for the world banking elite and both parties have eaten this shit up. The leaders and figureheads mind you.

Ralph Nader on election night " Every 4 years we chose a winner but its us that are losing. "

You deserve this.

I was wondering how the claim that political correctness, that is to say the doctrine of not giving offense, is a liberal trait was going to conform with the post-election claim that liberals are all big meanies to conservatives.

Now I know.

Hey! What if someone is both bald AND conservative, like Dick Cheney? Do we call him differently hirsute to spare his precious feelings, or do we call him chromedome while we put on sunglasses and make jokes about how he keeps blinding us with his head?

What if the guy's not the Vice President, though? What if he's just bald and conservative LIKE Dick Cheney? According to Overlord I'm supposed to be both okay with being condescending (because he's conservative) and careful of his feelings (because he's in a "chosen group"). Hmmm.

Ya know, as hard as it is to believe, I beginning to think there's a flaw in Overlord's thinking on this subject.

Yeah, I'm amazed as well.

Dale what ever happened to compassionate conservativism? You know the hard liner conservatives always come accross so cold hearted. Why can't conservatives show a little more humanity. Almost every single eprson on welfare doesn't want to be on welfare, people who are sick want to be better (but probablly cant afford health insurance cuse of your health care system). I mean what do conservatives suggest we do with those who cant fend for themselves? Just let them die??

Bunnies taste GREAT with a red wine / mushroom gravy. They also have very warm fur and are just fast enough to be an outstanding object of long range target shooting.

All around, bunnies are good!

What can I say, at least I possess talent. (yeah, I've read your stuff)

At which I make money.

Unlike writing for a non-profit rag unfit to line zoo cages.

I still find it odd that you have such disdain for those that actually had the intestinal fortitude to join the military, and volunteer to put themselves in harms way, to defend the rights of shitbags like you.

I would think that you would instead applaud those people.

You know, the ones that actually do something for a living instead of just sitting around bitching about it from the comfort of an internet movie site and a not for profit word of the day toilet paper substitute.

However, I guess we all need to feel like men at some point in our lives. Some of us actually do things to earn it, others just demean those that do because that's all the balls they can muster.

I understand. Maybe some day your mother will give you your balls back and you can play in the street with the big kids. Until then, go ahead and enjoy the view from under the front porch.

I must admit. This would be quite a bit more fun if you actually pissed me off. As it stands, you are barely worth the effort.

Meh..... it's slow today. I've got nothing better to do at the moment.

Two ruptured disks = washing out?

Again, as I always have, I question your logic on this. Oh well.

I know here in your safe internet world is the only time you actually get to feel superior to anyone, so have at it.

This may be your only chance before the inevitable lonely weekend spent furiously masturbating over your hack job interviews where people endured you simply because you have a press pass.

Ok, your turn.

Does it really matter?

Short version: 2 ruptured disks, couldn't walk for upwards of 3 months due to nerve damage. Now a civilian.

The "search" feature is your friend!

No problem. I'm sorry too. Despite the fact that I would be divorced, I would still be in if I could. Good luck to you, by the way.

And satisfy your need for me to justify myself to you? Really, where's the fun in that?

There's a search feature for a reason BobClark. It's all been spelled out.

Let us simply say that 3+ years and in the process of re-up paperwork is hardly "in basic training", and that my DD-214 honorable discharge due to medical necessity is actually what lets me "pretend" to be a vet.

Sorry, Psych, but I have no idea what all that means.

Come on people, things are getting pretty low when it's "acceptable" to poke fun at someone's loss of livelihood.

Dale has his opinions and he’s forthright about expressing them, but regardless of what he says or does – mocking what is, for everyone, a thoroughly depressing and often frightening time in one's life just isn’t acceptable. At least it isn’t in my opinion.
