Space Werewolves aplenty

Back in high school (1989), I asked a friend, "What would happen if a werewolf was on a spaceship traveling in Hyperspace? Would they freak out and change everytime they passed a moon? Wouldn't the moons always be full?"

So now comes "Full Moon Fever." The description on Darkhorizons is "The story is set in the not too distant future and revolves around a group of blue-collar workers who shuttle to the moon to repair the first lunar base, only to find it deserted. They soon discover that they're not alone as they become prey to a pack of ravenous werewolves."

A lot of you have been speculating this and that about how they could be there and so fourth. I can't speak for this movie, but I can speak for another called, "Darkfall: Resurrection."

It's currently in post production. And yep, it's a space werewolf movie. We've been keeping it on the down low as to not give our "space werewolf" movie type away. Too late now.

Anyhow, the movie takes place in the very distant future. Werewolves were thought to have been wiped out during an event called "The Great Purge" nearly a thousand years ago (in the movies time line). It is not set on Earth or the moon. It's set in another star system, on a moon of the planet Akoh.

It also has vampires. Anyhow, I've been working on the Darkfall story line since 2000. For the series (hopefull) there are several kinds of werewolves. We have the old "Wolfman" type. These are the lowest of the lows, the bottom of the werewolf line. Then you have your standard werewolf based on designs like in The Howling. For those werewolves who were originally just a plane old human they have a cycle they go through. Since we are not on earth, there are two ways for them to change.

1) Space. In space they would not be affected by a moon. So, it's kind of like a woman's monthly cycle. Every 30 or so days they wolf out just because.

2) Planet. On the surface of a planet, the moon's fullness would indeed do it's normal duties. What if there's more than one moon? I gave this a lot of thought. And decided that it would depend on the moon's distance from the planet. The further away, the less likely it would affect the werewolf. "But wouldn't that hold true even if the planet only had one moon?" Yep.

More werewolves. Next you have your half breeds. "But aren't werewolves already half Wolf and half Human?" Yep. But what we consider half breeds in the Darkfall Universe is a werewolf that was born vaginally. One parent human and one parent werewolf. These werewolves can change at any time, but can not sustain their transformation for more than ten or fifteen minutes at a time. Except during the full moon or their time of the month.

Pure Breeds. Born vaginally of two werewolf parents. These are the upper class. They can change at any time and for any length of time. They can even partially transform (ex. the can change their arm into a wolf's arm and jam it through a torso).

And, our werewolves are fully aware. Aware of what they're doing, what their mission is. None of this, waking up not knowing what happened stuff.
Sure, there are gonna be times when thier rage takes over. It's what we like to call the "Feeding Frenzy."

Overall, Darkfall is going to be (style wise) Star Wars with Werewolves and Vampires. (Note: I would never compare my stuff with Star Wars. Movie studios will be hard pressed to capture that kind of magic again).

We've got some really great designs. Though I still have to say that the Vampire Starfighters (Firebats) are my favorite. So...heres to success. And in hoping that "Full Moon Fever" is going to be good. I love werwolves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sold. I have only one question: Does your movie feature werewolves in spacesuits?

Everything's cooler in a spacesuit!

Well they're not running around naked!

Depends on what you mean by spacesuit. Do you mean the kind our astronauts wear? No. This is the distant future. Something like about three or four thousand years.

A werewolf is a werewolf, it doesn't matterwhat they're wearing, you know that once they transform it's fur baby fur!!

Can they at least where big space helmets? And have jet-packs? That would be cool. And you could change the name to Jet Wolves!

It's illogical for their clothes to just disappear when they transform. Put them in spacesuits. You bastard.

What do I do on Darkfall? Well, most importantly...I own all the rights to it. I created it. It's been a very long road. My original script, Darkfall: The Temple of Juzzett was written between 2000 and 2001, giving me a 2001 copyright. In July, 2001 we met with a group of private investors and began to negotiate a budget. It started out at $2.8 Million. By the beginning of Sept, 2001 we had them up to $3.5 Million. We were to shoot our forest locations in Alabama and all of our set/stage locations in Atlanta. We were waiting on our contracts when 9/11 happened. As it did with most things, we got put on hold. A couple of the investors were killed during that event. And by Janurary they had decided that they couldn't afford to do the movie.

Now steps in Bill Jurkovic. He's a friend of mine from Melbourne, Australia. He says, "I've got $10,000. If you can write a short based on your script, I'll shoot it and we'll use it as a "Proof of Concept" to take to studios."

So, Darkfall: Resurrection was born. It mostly takes place 150 years before the original script. It was just to be a 15 thru 20 minute short. But it kept growing. Bill and another writer began adding to it. There were things that I approved, and things that I shot down. And things that I shot down and they kept pushing for and after they finally made sense of it, I approved.

So as the script kept growing, they began to have fundraisers called, The Darkfall Ball. They had about five or six of these things and raised a lot of money. Since one scene actually takes place at a club, one of the Darkfall Balls was a Sci-fi costume event. And those that didn't wear like Star Wars or other recognizable costumes were allowed to be extras in the scene.

Anyhow, it should run about 1hr 40 minutes. Bill is pushing for a theatrical release. In Australia it might happen, but I won't get my hopes up about the states. You know how they are about 99% of Aussie movies. Plus, we still have to get out of Post Production.

Most of the creature effects I've scene have been really good. We actually had Make-up effects artists from Farscape on our crew. They gave us some really cool as vampires to battle with.

I also, designed several of the ships, costumes, and the Story Boards.

Holy Cow, I just saw Dracula 3000!!! I promise that niether Darkfall or Crymson Dynasty will be that bad. Thank god "Zues/ T-Bone" Tiny Lister was in this movie. At least you knew what kind of acting you're gonna get from him.

Look I'm wondering around the inside of a space ship. Yet, it sure looks like an old abandoned warehouse! Jesus, Leperchaun 4 (in space) had way better sets than Drac 3000. Matter of fact, Critters 4 (in space) had better sets.

And don't even get me started on that Dracula. Man were was the guy that played Lestat in Queen of the Damned at?
