I can't remember where I read it, but wasn't the funding cut in the midst of production causing Romero to shoot a rushed and much less ambitious script? I remember hearing that part of the original premise was that the military had trained zombies to fight zombies. Bub is the only remainder, and while he's one of my favorite parts of Day, zombie wars strikes me as a little bit more statement oriented and....I don't know.....Romero-like. Can anyone verify or correct this?

The deal was that there wasn't the budget for the script he had written, which was huge, so he ended up with two choices: he could either deliver an unrated picture for a small budget, or an R-rated for slightly bigger. Although I think it ended up as NC-17 anyway.

Thanks CharlesB, do you know any of the particulars, especially about the script? I need to see if I'm slowly going mad or if I did actually read that "zombie army" thing.

I do want to say I've enjoyed this thread a heck of a lot and would love to see more of this depth, informed discussion where people aren't arguing but talking. Good stuff.

Does any body know if and where a copy of this original script for Day can be obtained?
And if you do could you pretty please let us know? I would like to take a looksy at it.
I haven't looked on the net yet, but I am going to now. If I find it, I will post it.
