Genre: Funk/Rock/Offbeat
Written by Night Package
MP3 FILE

Drums, guitar - John Makarewicz
Guitar - Micah Robinson
Keys, Vocals - Nick Nunziata
Bass - Steve Murphy

I GOT MINE - 4:46

Gutter tastes not half bad, the water purifies
baptism of char and grease, so much for the Kerouac
tastes like something familiar, happy hour hubcap juice
homeless can you take me home
homeless can you take me home
homeless can you take me home
I got your back, you got my back
I got your back, you got my back
I got your back, you got my back
I got your back, I got mine
I got mine
I got mine

And then I'm alone in the familiar routine
of condescension
dial me 911
officer there's a vagrant in my home
why do I pay these taxes

Dirty faces, dirty apparitions
faces stolen from Weegee frame stare at me from across the room
walk the other way, it only helps to fuel the feeling of helplessness
officer do you understand that my therapist keeps a running tab
homeless can you take me home
homeless can you take me home
homeless can you take me home
I got your back, you got my back
I got your back, you got my back
I got your back, I got my back
I got my back, I got mine
I got mine
I got mine

And then I'm alone in the familiar routine
of condescension
dial me 911
officer there's a vagrant in my home
why do I pay these taxes

Best.

I love this one. A bazillion and one tracks and elememts, but they gel together pretty well as far as I'm concerned. Look forward to doing more stuff with this new lineup, especially with Dave and John killing the drums.

Awesome song. Great work by everyone, and I don't mean that sycophantically. The mp3 sounded a bit fuzzy, but I'm guessing that was intentional, or just an encoding thing. Anyway, the music was great and I can't wait to hear more.
Took me a second to realize how you got the name. Are Lucky Nightsticks and PKG gone for good or just sidelined? I was always partial to the PKG Marine Fight Song...
(Glad to hear you didn't die up in the woods, by the way.)
Here's to the new, awesome CHUD band. Cheers.

Unknown about the bands, perhaps we'll put the remainders on a collected CD or whatever. Bottom line, this lineup makes sense and maybe we can finally play out a few times.

Crap, you made me groove. I like the pure, unadulterated use of "back" in this song.

This is great, keep it comin' guys.

Not normally the kind of music I listen to, but was well done and definitely listenable. Very large departure from the early Package stuff, which was surprising (i.e. it's very cool to see the evolution of the music over these last 4 years).

This sounds more Nightsticks than PKG to me. In my case, that's good. I'm a bigger fan of LN.

Also, this is one thick song. Every inch of my speakers were used while playing this.

I love this stuff. Very nice.

pretty good. I've never heard Nick sing before, sounds like you have quite a voice there. Also being a guitar player and a drummer, as well as fairly jaded when it comes to music, yes you did have me "grooving" as the kids today say it.

Excellent job with the song. I cant wait to hear more.

Well, I guess I'll be the first dissenting opinion, say the Simon Cowell of CHUD.

It needs some work.

Now, of course, I am not a music mogul and will most likely be shunned and ignored due to my post count, but I have listened to years worth of many musical genres (yes, country too) and I have an idea to where you were going with this.

A mix 70's funkadelic with a bit of Steve Miller piano and guitar and offbeat lyrics.

But, you missed with one thing: it's just TOO much.

Too much WAH and piano and just too loud. The verse lyrics drown a bit behind all the chunk. Subconsciously, that's a sign of a lack of confidence in one's lyrics according to Clive Davis.

But, I guess that's my biggest grievance. It's a chunky song, something to start with for a band trying to find it's footing.

I guess I am going to have to go back and listen to the PKG and LN stuff to see the evolution. Maybe that will help my opinion of this.

But, it just seems to cluttered. If you were going for cluttered, then you got it.

If not, maybe something needs to be toned down. The synthesized stuff sounds like something out of a bad video game. Nick's Halo ownage shows here.

The guitar solo owns. Stevie Vai would be proud and Joe Satriani would praise you.

"But hey, that's my opinion, I could be wrong."

Now the blues/funk feel i got from this KILLED and Nick's vocals here are more solid than they were on Soldier.
