Hello all just thought I'd introduce myself..
I'm a zombie-phile, I love Romero's movies (reading threads about "Land of the Dead" is how I found this forum to begin with) I'm also a hardcore gamer, a computer geek, and I also love reading horror novels.(I'm finishing "The Dark Tower VII" and then I'm going to get into Brian Keene's "The Rising")

Sup, lap_monkey? From one n00b to another, welcome to the boards.

You're in good company here. I'm pretty sure most of the Chewers are zombiephiles as well.

The Rising kicks ass. Strap in for one awesome trip.

More love for The Rising from me and welcome to the boards. It's about time we get some fresh blood around here. Hopefully we'll see you posting often.

Any love for Fulci?

i've been coming here for almost 2 yrs now and it seems that the traffic has slowed heavily since the Creature Corner site moved from CHUD. It used to be pretty busy back then but i still love it here because of the movie community. I've learned so much from the people that used to frequent these boards.

Well Zombies huh.

well Romero is the grandfather of it all
what a great world he created with the contemporary "DEAD"

Pontypool Changes Everything is by far the most beautiful, poetic zombie apocalypse novel

“please please please check out Tim Lebbon's FEARS UNNAMED.

It's a terrific collection of four short novels, each one very different and very disturbing.

The second story, WHITE, is one of the best I've read. It's like some demented cross between THE THING and NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD.

The final story is a full-out end-of-the-world zombie epic, told from the point of view of a small child. Haunting stuff.

If you liked THE RISING, I think you'll dig this one.”

MORE ZOMBIES:

The Dead by Mark E. Rogers
The Zombie Survival Guide : Complete Protection from the Living Dead by Max Brooks
Apocalypse End : Reign of the Dead by Len Barnhart
Book of All Flesh by James Lowder
The Rising by Brian Keene
The Dead Shall Inherit the Earth by Vince Churchill
the resident evil series by s. d. perry is good
Risen by J.Knight
Phil Nutman's Wetwork
The Book of the Dead parts 1 & 2.by John Skipp and Craig Spector
Moonwalker, by Rick Hautala

All Things Zombie

Also keep an eye out at your local comic shops as zombies have boomed in the last year along with the obvious movie trend.

some examples of my favorites:

the Goon (if you like evil dead you'll love this, a thug and his wise cracking lil buddy fight an evil no name priest and zombies)
Walking Dead (the best and closest to Romero's world, Kirkman is an amazing writer too.)
Remains (very arty and cool)
Dead@17 (Hot on the comic market right now 17yr old girl vs. evil)
Night of the living dead: Barbara's zombie Chronicals (picks up where NOTLD left off)
George Romero's Toe Tags (a 6 parter set in his world)
Dawn of the dead adaptations (well speaks for themselves)
Living With Zombies (New, comedy like Shaun of the Dead)

@Floyd

I actually have never checked out any work from Fulci. I always read about those films, so my interest has been growing.

@Smith

I have read reviews of many of those books recently. "The Dead" is another novel that immediately caught my eye. That "Fears Unamed" sounds like it might be worth the price of admission just for that story from child's perspective. I bet that's sic. Thanks for that list I have been looking around for some good reads... it's a lot easier to find the good stuff when it's recomended.

Hey lap_monkey, nice to have you here ...

Listen to Floyd, he knows his zombies ... Fulci's ZOMBIE is as classic as they come ...

Also, if you haven't done so already, check out LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE ... It's not Romero or Fulci, but it's right up there ...
