Sometimes you just have to know when to let something die.

It's over, and it's been over for a looong time. Do you really want to see them beat this dead horse into oblivion?

Hey now, Jason has been to space. Shouldnt Freddy get a chance too? I mean how much worse can it really be? After the original nightmare on elm street all the others were just trying to see how much more cheesey they could get.

Though I must admit, the pinnacle of coolness was donning the 3d glasses while watching part 6(I think) with my friends. Been fighting off the ladies with a stick ever since.

I was hoping it was a petition to stop production on the next Nightmare. Face it. The series sucks.

Seeing how there hasn't really been a really good Freddy movie since the superb first, it's a good idea to just forget about it.

I got some enjoyment out of the third installation as well, even if it's pretty flawed overall.

But I agree, more in the series would just drive the nail deeper.

I agree with the majority... Freddy's dead. I think that part 1 and 3 were the standout films.

I must admit that I was excited when "Freddy vs Jason" was announced. As it turned out, the soundtrack was the only good thing to come from the film.

The original is excellent, and I like part 3 and New Nightmare as well.

View on the rest of the series? I'm sadly going to say that I kinda enjoyed Freddy vs. Jason better than Nightmare 2 and 4-6. As bad as it was, it didn't make my brain hurt as much as the cheesiness/horridness of those installments.

The series has a wonderful concept and a lot of potential, but has never really made it past rehashing the original (and more than likely, never will). This is partially why I was not opposed to a Fvs.J vs. Ash. With a GOOD writer (and I stress that a lot), imagine the insane dream attacks we could have had in Ash's warped mind. That and it would have eliminated cliched teenagers as the third character in the film. Would Ash have won? Of course, he's the hero. I don't give a damn what anyone says, both Freddy and Jason lost that damn movie, and the cliched teenage characters won. Such it has been in each series installment and such it will always be. That and we all know it was the only chance we had of ever seeing Bruce Campbell play Ash again. Good script or bad, at least we would have had Ash again and it would have been better than Fvs.J by default just by having Bruce in it. Anyway, though I would bank on there being a Freddy vs. Jason 2 no matter what, I wouldn't be expecting a Nightmare 8 or Friday 11 ever. I just don't see it happening.

God willing there will never be another Nightmare but I hope to see Jason come back in some form. I just love those movies and Jason X was the best in the series so far.

This series died after the 3rd film (1st and 3rd were my favs) its DEAD, DEAD, DEAD.

Miss out on New Nightmare, chief?

Honestly didn't think much of New Nightmare. It certainly wasn't as poor as 5 or 6 but I was pretty bored by it.

I personally find New Nightmare the best American horror film of the 90s, let alone the best Nightmare film. The portion of film lasting from the hospital to Freddy emerging in the house is so completely intense that I can't help but throw it in the DVD player and crank up the 5.1 track every now and again.
