And I was in the lead on that poll before it was squashed... so don't go lumping me up again with the other rabble. Atleast I'm not pulling the DeathNinja picto-gram charades... most of my sorry attempts at a chuckle are easily skip-able...

After watching this morning, I just noticed that the train passenger who says "What the hell?" when Spidey and Doc Ock tumble onto the subway car is the guy who played Jake in Evil Dead II.

On Penn Radio, Penn Jillette mentioned that in Walter Hill's The Warriors, there is a short scene in the beginning of a knife being thrown at a wall. The person throwing that knife is 19 year old Penn Jillette and that was his first job in a feature film.

In the beginning of THE EVIL DEAD, the sound guy is clearly visible standing by the side of the rickety bridge as the car goes over it.

Hmm, I recently watched Altman's The Long Goodbye for the first time and was surprised to see a young Arnold in it. For a moment I had a feeling that he didn't have a slightest clue in what movie he is really in.

There are three Wrestlers in THE LONGEST YARD: Goldberg, Stone Cold & Kevin Nash. Plus, you get the rappers of D12 and Brian Bosworth.

And, not to forget, Chris Rock dies in that movie.

-Denis Leary was originally going to play Teddy in Memento.

-Character actor Timothy Carey turned down oppurtunites not only to be in The Godfather Part I, but also Part II. He then took a part in The Conversation... only to get into a fight with Coppola and walk off the set. Reservoir Dogs is dedicated to Carey.

-Jack Black was in True Romance (Deleted Scene).

-I'm ashamed that I didn't realize that Bernard Herrmann did the score for Jason and the Argonauts, one of my favorite childhood films.

-Shane Black co-wrote Monster Squad.

I just watched Escape From New York again and I'm pretty sure that the actor doing the opening narration is Jamie Lee Curtis. Maybe someone here knows if it really is her.
You're correct. That's Curtis' voice.
John Barry did the score for Bruce Lee's Game of Death. Which would explain why, the last 20 minutes aside, it's the only good thing about the film.

Although it sounds like someone else dubbed over his voice, which would explain why people don't recognize him.

He also appears in both Superman and Superman II. In different roles.

I had to read a book about Hong Kong cinema before I caught this one:

In Enter the Dragon, the guy Lee beats in an exhibition in the opening is Sammo Hung. Even better, when Bruce is having his battle in the caverns, there's a guy who Lee grabs by the hair and breaks his neck; that's Jackie Chan.
Jake Busey & Scott Caan have practically the same hairstyle in all of their movies. See: Enemy of the State, Tomcats, Into the Blue or the Ocean's 11 & 12 for that.

Oh, and once I hated Pierce Brosnan's clenched jaw, "check my dentist's own Sistine Chapel" grin/ smile, but now I find it strangely alluring. Same with George Clooney's head-bobbing seduction technique.

Yeah, I spotted Sammo when I was watching the movie for the last time, but didn't know Jackie Chan was there until I read it in a movie magazine. If I remember correctly there are no close-ups of him, so that could be the reason.

Ever notice that you never see Julia Stiles, Erika Christensen, and Kate Bosworth together in the same room?

Movie connection? He wrote both X-Men movies too.
I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but Hayter also played the lead in "Guyver 2: Dark Hero" which was based on the popular Japanese anime superhero.

That, and the fact that he hadn't had his face broken thirty-seven times yet. Pictures of him in his twenties look very little like he looks today.

I loved Highwaymen too. Maybe it's just me, but fucking Jim Cavieziel doesn't get as much recognition as he should.

Yep, that was Joel.

Kiran Shah (Elijah Wood's scale double in LOTR) was a stunt double for Newt in Aliens. He also doubled for Jen, Kira, and Aughra in Dark Crystal and Miss Piggy in The Great Muppet Caper.

Shah also had a brief part in Raiders of the Lost Ark, meaning that every film he's done with John Rhy-Davies in it has been nominated for a Best Picture Acadamy Award.

Yes, he's cousin to Dar the Beastmaster.

Well why isn't he making with the big-budget Beastmaster redux? I thought nepotism was good for something.

The Negotiator and the Assault on Precinct 13 remake are two movies written by James DeMonaco that are set in enclosed spaces, are about SWAT gone bad and feature characters named "Sabian" (Spacey/ Bello) and "Roenick" (Guilfoyle/ Hawke).

Lead college jerk Rod in Breaking Away is indeed smug yuppie Harry Ellis in Die Hard. Capische?

And a quick IMDB verification of this hunch showed that this Hart Bochner fellow's also directed a coupla things, including PCU, which has somehow become 12 years old, holy shit.

Looks like Bochner has a writer-director project coming along this year, too, after 10 years out of the canvas chair. Hopefully his own material's better than High School High.

On the Res Dogs disc, Quentin talks about how he was going to hire Carey, but heard he was hard to work with, so he went with Lawrence Tierney instead. He goes on to say "There's NO WAY he could have possibly been worse than Tierney!"

Carey also produced and starred in an independent film called The World's Greatest Sinner, with a score by Frank Zappa. I really want to see that.

Edie Williams from Beyond the Valley of the Dolls has a small part in Sam Fuller's The Naked Kiss.

I just watched the Runaway Train recently, the first time in a lonnng time I've watched that flick(still awesome, by the way), and Trejo has a bit part where he gets the shit beat out of him in a prison boxing ring. Granted, I had no idea who Trejo was last time I watched that movie, but it was still kind of neat.

In Rambo III, John Rambo is fighting the Russians with the Mujahideen in Afghanistan, only a handful of years before they produced the Taliban. The movie's even dedicated to them.

See also Red Scorpion, The Living Daylights, and The Beast. Seemed like a good idea at the time...

Yeah, very embarassing fact: I rented that movie a few years ago for that exact reason. Also, the Young Woody Allen character in Radio Days? Seth Green.
