The original The Stepford Wives and Rosemary's Baby were both based on the same author: Ira Levin, whom I strongly suspect only has one conspiracy-laden, woman-betrayed-by-huasband plot.
He also wrote The Boys from Brazil, so he definitely had some fear of children...

Great books, though.

Mark Metcalf, who played Doug Neidermeyer in Animal House and the dad in the Twisted Sister videos ("What do you want to do with your life?") is the same guy who played The Master on Buffy and Angel.

The guy who directed THE HITCHER later directed HIGHWAYMEN.

Somewhere there exists a three-hour cut of THE HITCHER, and it isn't available. I really want to see this, does anybody know what they all cut?

The father, not the son, but yeah...

I probably knew it years ago when I first watched it, but in Hook (showed it to my Peter Pan loving daughter recently), Phil Collins has a cameo as an inspector and Rocky's (originally Apollo's) trainer, Duke (Tony Burton), is also one of Hook's pirates.

I was on IMDb trying to remember how to spell the original title to Tony Jaa's latest, only to discover that Jaa was an uncredited stunt double in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.

People in movies never use the crosswalk. They always cross streets diagonally because it makes a more dynamic camera angle.

During the cemetery scene at the beginning of Arsenic and Old Lace, one of the tombstones read "Archie Leach". This, of course, is the real name of the film's star, Cary Grant.

What In Common?

Just realized about a year ago, even if it's ultra-obvious once said,
that this diverse set of fine films have something very key in common --

Dangerous Liaisons (1988),
A River Runs Through It (1992),
Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994), and
Big Fish (2003).

Surely some already know what they have in common, but I didn't, even though I love all of those films.

Answer --
Philippe Rousselot -- Cinematographer

Assault on Precinct 13 remake has scene in the beginning where Ethan Hawke stands in front of a mirror and the camera is behind him. He bends down over the sink and the camera moves close to the mirror, so that when Hawke stands up again we see a close up of his face. I thought that this was a pretty cool shot. I watched La Haine again today and noticed that that scene in Precinct 13 is lifted frame for frame from La Haine.

Hayden Christensen was the little kid on the bike at the end of "In The Mouth of Madness" who points Sam Neill towards civilization after he pops out of crazy town.

And I know this is incredibly lame but can someone explain the pun in "Gay Perry." I think I am just trying too hard and it takes a lot of pride swallowing to be the guy he has to be explained the joke.

Also, the role of "Blake" in Glengarry Glenn Ross played by Alec Baldwin (Best Cameo ever) was created for the film and was not in the original play in the play. Mamet wrote the role specifically for Baldwin.

Christian Bale looks (expresses) exactly the same in Empire of the Sun as he does today.

Christian Bale also uses the exact same accent in SHAFT that he did in NEWSIES. It's pretty funny.

Samuel L. Jackson...

Samuel L. Jackson was in 2 episodes of the PBS kids series Ghostwriter! I only found this out when I watched part of an episode on Youtube.

Dustin Hoffman is turning seventy this year!

In Planet of the Apes, during the "courtroom" scene, during a pivotal moment one of the three "judges" covers his eyes, another his mouth, and another his ears.

The entire concept of the Ewok/Stormtrooper battle is flawed and beyond redemption.

That the Star Wars Holiday Special existed (okay, this was a few years ago, but it still stuns me).

Emperor Palpatine gets fried by a dragon in Dragonslayer.

That lemmings do not intentionally jump off cliffs as mass suicide when their numbers become too large.

What makes this movie related is that the crew for a 1958 Walt Disney documentary called White Wilderness bought a few lemmings, brought them into the wilderness in Canada where they don't even live, filmed them for a bit (from different angles to make it seem like a lot) and then herded them off a cliff into a river where they all drowned.

So, because there was a some myth that lemmings jumped off cliffs, this film crew caused it to happen in a supposedly factual documentary, creating a domino effect from which countless people (myself included) then believe it to be fact.

I can't be the only one who finds this wildly interesting.

I just watched Time After Time last night for the first time and something struck me as fishy. In it, Malcolm McDowell plays H.G. Wells who has traveled into the future to chase Jack the Ripper, and ends up falling in love with his then real-life wife Mary Steenburgen. So far, so good, but tell me if this sounds familiar:

He tells her he is a time-traveler, she doesn’t believe him at first.
Her death is foretold as happening in the future.
He saves her life; they fall in love and hop in his time machine.

That's exactly what happens in BTF3, only it's Christopher Lloyd instead of McDowell.

So you're saying 'Doc' jumped in his DeLorean and travelled back to 1979 to steal the script from 'Time After Time', just so HE could live happily ever after? That reeks of rank hypocracy after he gave Marty all that shit over the Almanac.

In "The Island", Steve Busemi's wife/girlfriend is played by Shawnee Smith. The same actress he told had a fake diamond ring in "Armegeddon".

I don't recall if this was brought up yet, but Elisha Cuthbert of 24 fame is one of the Midnight Society kids on Are You Afraid of the Dark?
