John Williams Burns Junior in the couch trip (Dan Aykroyd has the same prison number, 7474505B, that his characters, Jake Blues in "The Blues Brothers" and Louis Winthorpe III in "Trading Places", had in both those two earlier films.

There is a giant ad for Sol beer painted on the wall of the subway tunnel where Smith fights Neo in the first Matrix film. Sol means sun in Spanish, which is what the machines used to use for power. It's a cool bit of product placement!

Seinfeld is on record as being enough of a die-hard superman fan that I wonder if that might not be deliberate.

Per Cracked.com: Danny Trejo plays the same character in "Machete" and the forthcoming "Machete Kills" that he plays in the "Spy Kids" movies. Literally the same character. The article quotes a Danny Trejo interview with remezcla.com: "Machete Cortez in Machete is what Machete Cortez in Spy Kids does when he's not taking care of the kids."

Even better, in all of Robert Rodriguez's movies, Danny Trejo plays a character whose name is a sharp object: Navajas in Desperado and Razor Charlie in From Dusk Til Dawn.
