Also Rachel Blanchard (of Clueless the TV show), Joanna Garcia (of Reba), and Vanessa Lengies (of Stick It).

And Christine Taylor was on Hey Dude!
Hell yeah Christine Taylor was on Hey Dude! She was my TV crush at the time.

Hey Nick we got Pete vs Pete? but when are we getting Salute Your Shorts, You Cant Do That On TV, and Hey Dude?

although I am sure You Cant Do that is the only one that will hold up
post #404 of 3017
Pete & Pete is gold. I agree that Salute Your Shorts won't hold up. It had funny moments, but the veneer of nostalgia will make way for disgust. I watched Nick Arcade and Legends of the Hidden Temple last week. Ugh. What a dumb child I must have been.
add Wild & Crazy Kids to that list. God I loved that show.

Oh, and Tobey Maguire was in one episode to make this thread-relevant.
Not to mention Cuba Gooding Jr.'s brother was one of the hosts. I believe he was in Baby Boy as well.

Walton Goggins (Shane from The SHIELD) was in House of 1000 Corpses.
Robert Patrick and Richard Patrick (former NIN guitarist & frontman of industrial-metal group Filter) are brothers.

Antonio Banderas did the voice of the Nasonex bee.

Really? I thought it was a bad impersonation of Banderas. I hate that ad.
Yep, it's on his IMDB page. Musta been a nice, easy paycheck.
Nick Castle, the first Michael Myers, directed The Last Starfighter and cowrote Hook.

He's also an Oscar Winner, for a short film called "The Accountant"

Sadly, his wife committed suicide by jumping off of a building.

I refuse to accept that they're not related. Let's do some DNA-testing to rule out the possibility that they weren't separated at birth.

Barry DeVorzon, who did the awesome synth score for The Warriors, is also responsible for the theme to The Young and the Restless, and part of the score for V: The Final Battle.

From one of the most terrifying characters in cinema history to a career full of family films (he also directed Dennis the Menace)...weird.

In "The Italian Job" (2003), as they are blowing the charges, just before the aromored truck drops through the street, there is a guy dressed as Spider-Man looking all freaked out, ready for action.
I don't know if I already mentioned this, but I just remembered it again recently.

The song "Lounge" by Modest Mouse (off their album "A Long Drive For Someone With Nothing to Think About") spells out the opening of Donnie Darko with it's lyrics, even though it was released a year before the film.

"He don't remember/how he got there/he had a number written on his forearm/it spelled disaster"

The red headed kid in BIG says fuck towards the end of the movie, and it's rated PG.
Randy Quaid says fuck in Caddyshack 2. Also rated PG.
I once noticed that "The Fifth Element" seems to take a lot of details out of the various stories from "Heavy Metal." They both have a futuristic cabby with a mysterious woman falling into his lap, both have a female being the ultimate weapon against evil. Another big one is the mysterious evil orb floating through space, poisoning minds and killing people. Oh, and futuristic drug use and some boobs.

Stallone's Cobra was based on the novel Fair Game (which was later filmed with Cindy Crawford and one of the Baldwins).

"The Touch" was a song originally written for Cobra but ended up being used for the Transformers movie.

Fergie (BEP) and Paul Walker were kids in Monster in the Closet (87).

In addition to co-writing the Toy Story screenplay (with Joel Coen, among others), Joss Whedon did script treatments for Roseanne.
Something that's always bothered me about this otherwise great thread is the fact that virtually none of this is stuff you guys have realized, but rather stuff you've found out. Saying you've realized it implies that you somehow deduced these tidbits free of any further research or discovery.

That said, proceed with the interesting trivia.

Thank you, Smeagol.

Wait, Joel Coen helped write Toy Story? Or Roseanne?
I assume you mean Toy Story(with the "before the comma" action), but I'd never heard that. Where'd you find that out?

I'd be quite interested in a thread dedicated to uncredited rewrites, but I don't know how some of them would ever be proven.

Fergie apparently was also the voice of Sally Brown in the Peanuts cartoons of the 1980s including "Flashbeagle".

In Inside Man, a news report of hurricane Katrina's aftermath (they talk about the floods and the snipers on the roofs) is heard inside the MCC while Denzel and Dafoe discuss walking into the bank. Guess which docu Spike Lee directed next?

Last time I watched Toy Story (couple weeks ago) his name showed up in the opening credits as a co-writer alongside Joss Whedon; could be a different guy, I hadn't verified it. Joss is the one who worked on Roseanne.

Just watched Innerspace and realized Mr. Igo is Blaine from Commando
post #432 of 3017
Close, Mr. Igoe is Bennett from COMMANDO. Blaine is Jesse Ventura in PREDATOR.

AHA! Simple mistake.
Not Joel Coen, but Joel COHEN.

Damn those crafty Jews.

EDIT - His "Untitled Larry the Cable Guy Animated Project" sounds promising.

I just realized that the scene in Fantastic Four where Thing is talking to Doom in the restaurant was shot in Smilies, a constant lunch spot in Downtown Van about two blocks away from me.

In both The Horror of Dracula and Revenge of the Sith, Christopher Lee loses two appendages and is brought to his knees by a cross-shaped weapon.

I just realized that the kid in The Punisher (2004 version) with all the piercings is the same guy who played Angel in X-men III. And that is something that I didn't find out, I just realized. I hope you're happy Smeagol.

That's Ben Foster - he was also on six feet under - he made Hostage a lot better than it should have been - also good in Alpha Dog

That's neat. I never would have known that considering I've tried hard to forget the 2004 Punisher.

Yes, I found out, did not realize, but there was a whole series of Saint films in the 30s starring George Sanders as Simon Templar. TCM did a marathon tonight. I never cared enough about The Saint to have come across this info before.

I never knew Warren Beatty was Shirley Maclaine's brother.

A very young Joaquin Phoenix plays Mary Steenburgen's son, Garry, in Parenthood.

I recognized his little cleft lip last night on TBS and couldn't believe I let that slip by me for so many years.
Don't remember that at all from Parenthood. Nifty.

I just realized (well, just learned) that Ruthless People is based on an O.Henry story, "The Ransom of Red Chief" (IIRC).

In The Big Lebowski, when The Dude is in the limo talking with Lebowski, he says "A young trophy wife, to use the parlance of our times." It never occurred to me that Maude uses the parlance of our times dialogue earlier in the flick. I know most of his dialogue comes from stuff said by other characters, but this one slipped by me.

Dominic West, Theron in 300, played a palace guard in The Phantom Menace.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is an anagram for "'A man with axe chases actress"
Whoah. That'd be even more awesome if he ever used an axe in the flick.

Due to waking up at 4am and noticing Bye-Bye Love had just started, my laziness about changing the channel has made me realize two things.

1)This movie wasn't directed by Rob Reiner as I had figured it must have been all this time.

2) Half of the movie's running time takes place either in or around a McDonald's restaurant.
The Captain from 300 plays essentially the same part in Troy.
