That's why he looked so familiar. I was like "Swords...sandals...that fuckin' guy...where have I seen this before?"

Mitch Hedberg is in Almost Famous.

When I was a kid, it took me ages to realize that Paul Newman and Steve McQueen were two different people. I was 11 when I saw "The Towering Inferno", and I thought it was some really cool plot twist that the architect who designed the skyscraper was also the fire captain who had to put out his own burning building. Uh, noooo...

John Cazale appeared in only five feature films in his career, and all of them were nominated for Best Picture (Godfather, Godfather Part II, The Conversation, Dog Day Afternoon, and The Deer Hunter). He was engaged to Meryl Streep when he died (bone cancer).

Ted Tally. I repeat Ted-fuckin'-Academy Award Winner for The Silence of the Lambs' script-Tally is credited as story consultant on Shrek 2.

And you thought your mortgage was high...

Joel Schumacher was the costume designer for Woody Allen's Sleeper.

Although Maude can say "vagina" with abandon, she never says penis once.

I just witnessed the gorgeous insanity that is El Topo and then found out about Alejandro Jodorowsky's failed attempt to make Dune and all of the interesting stuff related to it. Like how Giger reused the sketches he did for Dune in his work on Alien and how Star Wars got its set designs from Dune's storyboards and how Salvador Dali was almost in the film...the list goes on.

Not doubting this, but could you tell me where he is? I've seen this movie too many times to count, but I just can't place him anywhere in it for the life of me.

Another comedian is in it though, Nick Swardson. It's a bit more obvious considering he actually has a line, but he's there. "Oh my god, it's Bowiiiiee!!!!!"

He's playing poker with Peter Frampton, towards the end of the film. I didn't realise it until he did a stand-up bit about being in a movie with Peter Frampton.

Good fucking grief -- as many times as I've seen Braveheart, I've just now realized that Brian Cox plays William Wallace's uncle in the beginning.

Just realized that when Woody Harrelson bids the $1 million dollars he got from Robert Redford banging Demi Moore in Indecent Proposal, he put himself at least $50,000 in debt because he paid Oliver Platt that much in attorney's fees.

Caught a bit of Mr. And Mrs. Smith a few days ago. I just noticed that when Pitt, Jolie and Adam Brody are in the motel, Brody is wearing a Fight Club T-Shirt.

Paul Walker was in "Tammy and the T-Rex".

Dan from HBO's "Deadwood" (W. Earl Brown) played Cameron Diaz' retarded brother in "There's Something About Mary".

Considering child performances, Kirsten Dunst has actually managed to out-act Natalie Portman... once.

He's also the first customer in Being John Malkovich, "I'm a fat man..."

I just noticed that Richard Pryor has a writing credit in Blazing Saddles. I was flabbergasted!

I was mildly surprised to read that John Milius did uncredited script work on Dirty Harry. I was gobsmacked to see IMDB list Terence Malick with the same gig.

Adrian Grenier was in A.I. -- he's one of the teens in the car that drives David and Joe to Rouge City.

I watched about 15 mintues of 2010 last night, and caught a scene where the nurse in Bowman's mom's hospital is reading a Time magazine with the headline "War?" Underneath it is a pair of pictures, assumed to be the US President and Soviet Premier.

The photos are of Arthur C. Clarke and Stanley Kubrick. And Kubrick makes a pretty convincing Soviet leader.

Watched Jaws on TCM after the Spielberg documentary, and I had no idea that the small animation that plays after House MD is from Jaws.

"That's some bad hat, Harry."

Somehow I imagine Milius had a hand in the 'Make My Day' speech.

I only just realised that Hot Fuzz pretty much ends with a Wicker Man reference (Oh God, No.....BOOM)

I read that apparently he did indeed write the "Make My Day" speech, and he was paid with a gun that he wanted.

The woman Gene Hackman roughs up and Dennis Haysbert shoots to death at the start of ABSOLUTE POWER is Jan from "The Office."

The little girl with two broken arms who watches as her mom is shot at the beginning of Three Kings is Maeby Funke from Arrested Development.

Jan was the hooker that was sucking off Gene Hackman and then got killed by the Secret Service? Wow, how has this not been touched on in The Office?

Also the kid who was Eli (The Retarded Kid) in Freaks and Geeks was the one who played Angel in X-3 and played the bi-sexual who impregnated Claire Fisher on Six Feet Under.

Alexander Payne co-wrote I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.

I just realized Christian Bale is the kid from Empire of the Sun. Now when I watch it, it just looks like a midget version of Bale instead of a kid. In a creepy Basement Jaxx kinda way.

Gator: If you think that's strange, see Newsies and then imagine Patrick Bateman in a musical about newsboys trying to fight Pulitzer.

Belloq played the bad guy, Ivan Ooze, in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie. And then appeared in Hot Fuzz. Talk about high-low-high.

CRIMSON TIDE, a movie in which Viggo Mortensen had a role, contained a brief discussion between Gene Hackman and Denzel Washington about which they prefer, "an ol' painted" (Mustang) or Arabian horse, a theme that was very central in a later movie in which Viggo starred, HIDALGO.

I don't have any hard proof to back this up, but the wings on the angels in the "Christmas in Heaven" number in Monty Python's The Meaning of Life look a hell of a lot like the wings on Jonathan Pryce's dream character in Brazil.

In the sexual harrassment episode of SCRUBS (season 3, "My Tormented Mentor"), the actor that plays the kid version of The Todd in a flashback is Miles (Carter Jenkins) from the sea-monster TV show, SURFACE.

DEEP RISING

Instead of Famke & Treat, we almost had a different cast...

Claire Forlani was cast in the 1998 film, Deep Rising, but due to creative conflicts left the set during the first few days of filming.

According to imdb, Harrison Ford turned down the role of Finnegan. The production's budget was then downsized.

So you're saying 'Doc' jumped in his DeLorean and travelled back to 1979 to steal the script from 'Time After Time', just so HE could live happily ever after? That reeks of rank hypocracy after he gave Marty all that shit over the Almanac.
Caught this flick on HBO last night. As Marty is filming Doc Brown, they talk about his first trip. Doc says he's going to go to the future...as he always wanted to see it.

Then...sort of as an aside...he mutters "And I can find out the winners of the next 25 World Series, too".

Of course, by that time he'd long since had Marty's message about him getting shot, so you'd think his scientific morals might have been compromised a while back. But I thought it was a nifty bit of foreshadowing nonetheless.

Nope. He didn't have the letter the first go-round. Note that 1st-act Marty meets him at the Twin Pines Mall, where the Marty at the end is rushing towards the Lone Pine Mall.
